Justin Bieber: Pro-life, pro-Canada

Grab the latest Rolling Stone to learn Justin Bieber's views on politics

Teen idol Justin Bieber opposes abortion and joked that America is “evil” in a cover story in Rolling Stone.

He graces the cover with a new hairdo, trading his famous forward swoosh for an artfully spiky new look. Clad in a leather jacket and white tank top, he reminds us of a more wholesome Sid Vicious.

“You guys are evil,” he quipped to Rolling Stone, saying he does not plan to become a U.S. citizen. “Canada’s the best country in the world.”

He explained that in his native land, “We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills.”

Bieber, raised by a single mom, said he opposes abortion, saying, “It’s like killing a baby.”

But he doesn’t have a strong political affiliation.

“I’m not sure about the parties,” Bieber told Rolling Stone. “But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.”

You need to subscribe to Rolling Stone to read the entire article online (or go old-school and buy the magazine off the news stand). Here’s the link.

The part about abortions is actually take out of context. I don’t like Justin Bieber or his music. But he’s just a random 16-year-old kid who’s opinion suddenly matters. Give the kid a break. Anyone crazy enough to suddenly grab an opinion on something because Justin Bieber said it, is either immature and will grow out of it or it’s best they find something moderate before they find role models who are criminals.

We Americans are so damn self-indulgent . it ’s so nice to lose every thing because we get ill and be without health insurance. Now throw me out of country!

He said what?????

Ok I will give him credit for putting out clean whole some music and for rising from an ordinary kid to Pop Mega Star! But he clearly doesn’t understand how the free health care thing works in Canada! He doesn’t realize that depending on what procedure you need it could be months before you can see a doctor to have it done. Ask him where most of the Canadian Heart patients have their bypass surgery’s done? In America while coming to our evil country for a Holiday! Free health care in Canada is awesome because we tax payers in this evil country foot the bill!!!!!

He’s 4 years old and hasn’t come close to living a normal life. Who gives a crap what he thinks now or will ever think?

In 15 years he’ll be face down in a gutter fresh out of rehab, mark my words.

I’m a Canadian who is embarrassed by Bieber’s comments. Calling an entire country “evil” is extremely immature, especially considering said country is responsible for most of his fame and fortune. If all Americans boycotted Bieber it would serve him right.

Well for once the truth is said by a teenager that abortion KILLES A BABY. I disagree with his ideas about canada having better healthcare considering canada has problems out of the waz zoo and has gov’t paid abortions. Anyway I give him a high five for standing up on such a topic and facing the truth about the leading cause of death in AMerica which is ABORTION. Maybe if more moie stars would face the same fact our contry could finally stop the genoside of abotion. Go Bieber!

@David: Two things: 1) Consider using spell check and 2) Understand that heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the US, not abortion.

It’s LIKE killing a baby??? No, sweetie, it IS killing a baby but regardless of your views on the issue, he appears to be clueless about many things. I’m sure Bieber was joking about America being ‘evil’ but the fact remains that (provided he manages his money well), he will never have to worry about healthcare again in his lifetime. He’ll be like the rest of the celebrities and politicians – to the front of the line because you’re famous. He has no clue about paying bills or managing money because he’s got ‘people’ for that now. He’ll get the things for free that the average American works hard to earn. I’ve read in other publications that his mom works hard to keep him grounded. Let’s hope she can keep his ‘arse’ in line…

Yes, us evil rich Americans who pay way too much money for his minimal talent. His handlers aren’t too bright for letting him insult the country that is making him so damn rich. Sounds like some of y’all hate the fact that the kid is exercising his right to freedom of speech. It might not have been the best business move, but really all he’s doing is criticizing certain practices in other countries that are different from the way things are done back home. Sounds pretty American to me.

That was insulting. America is not evil. That was a stupid prejudiced joke. There is no “best country”. I agree that our health care maybe isn’t very good, but if he thinks we’re so evil, he should take his dumb ass back to Canada. The damn jackass doesn’t seem to mind getting the money his evil American fans spend on his music.

Really people? Now, I’m not a big fan of Justin Bieber, and I’m quite ashamed of myself for even saying something here, but he is a human being, born in the USA or not, the 1st Amendment states that he has a right to Free Speech. Also, to the people here saying that Teenagers are stupid, or implying this same idea that we know nothing of life, should really re-think that. I’m only 16, and I’m sure I know quite a bit more than you. While I am no Pro-Life I will support Justin Bieber in that, he stated his ideals. If he is against abortion, so be it. Who are you to tell him he cannot be Pro-Life? Why use, “adult, profane” words against someone who, excuse the diction here, has the balls to stand for what he thinks is right! Despite his ignorance about free health-care in Canada, his calling the USA evil, which it is, and because he did not know where in Korea Communism was in effect, I’m sure just about each one of you are adults, “bashing” this celebrity, saying he’ll end-up like the rest, is just “below the belt.” I’ve heard people call the French rude, I don’t ever see them doing something like this to someone upholding the base ideal of their country! Also, for the people insulting him because of his high voice, and calling him gay/female should just stop. That is Kindergarten!!! Why are adults, who, “know about life” acting like children? Talk about immaturity. Really now, this makes me ashamed of being “American.” Yes I put that in quotes, because if you are all true “Americans” then I will have nothing to do with ANY of you!!! America is becoming a very ignorant country because of people like you!!! Each of you should feel like, excuse the diction again, crap! (And, I did not use any profane language yet still got my point across)

@Mary, thanks. (It’s fine, I’m not) and I don’t really like Justin Bieber that much, but human rights, are human rights, that’s why this country is messed up as it is. That is, the ignorant, close-minded, conservative, super-christian-mega atheist, people that inhabit this Land. If everyone really thought, they’d understand he HAS a mind, no matter his age, he has a right to speak.

These comments are the reason why he says America is ‘evil’. He’s just a kid people. Calling him all these names and spewing out venom adds to the negative perception of the US and its people. After reading these comments, I’ll have to agree with the Bieb.

The kid is from my town here in Ontario, I don’t know him, one of my son does. He says he’s a bit goofy, but OK. A “skater boy” is what we call them up here. And he can sing. Then again, this is the town where Dylan’s group “The Band” got together. It’s the town where Loreena MacKennitt lives. Lots of great musicians here in Perth County.
His mama has a great rep around town. A very committed and evangelical Christian, which is where the kid’s stand on abortion comes from.
As far as the healthcare thing, as Roger Ebert, the esteemed American columnist/film reviewer said about it…
“The kid is only 16 and already a lot smarter than most people 3 times his age.”

Oh yeah, I’ve lived in SC Georgia, south of Macon, below the gnat line. I was dam happy to come home after 3 years amongst the guber racists. It’s the 21st century people, get with the programme. The drugs, the violence, the fact that prisons are the growth industry there, makes the ignorance of most of these commentators/mouth breathers, laughable to me.

As far as USA/ Canada relations, y’all need us a lot more than we need you. Our economy isn’t in the dumpster. Then again, Canadians have never spent like brain damaged drunken sailors.
Me, I think we should start building that 3500 mile wall immediately. We are tightening up our immigration requirements, already way higher than the USA’s.

10 years from now, if we don’t take care of it, Americans will be sneaking over our border like Mexicans do right now. Me, I’m all for shooting whichever ones are trying to sneak in to get away from the country Y’all ran into the ground.

Um last time I checked abortion is killing a baby. The is no debate in that folks. Its also legal in America but I am sure anybody who has seen a late term abortion would call that murder. I also think that he was kidding when he said the USA was evil. Give him a break and stop taking everything so seriously.

1) No, not everyone believes that life begins at conception. Those who do not will not recognize that abortion is killing a baby. Do you honestly believe that pro-choice people would happily kill babies? Of course not.

2) Someone in an earlier comment made this really, really stupid assertion: Canadians come down here for some health procedures (which is true), so U.S. taxpayers end up footing their bills. Um… no. Just no.

In Canada, as with some other developed countries, national health care does not mean the complete absence of private insurance. Those fortunate and skilled enough to hold good jobs mean that they have that, too.

If you actually talk to real Canadians about their healthcare, you’ll find that most of them wouldn’t trade it for anything–and they’re horrified, like Bieber, at the barbarism with which we treat the issue in this country.

Wow Mstr. Bieber – shame on you! Watch what you say when you expect the “evil ” American fans to spend a fortunate to attend your concerts and another fortune on Bieber tee-shirts. I hope you plan to invest your fortune in a college education and take an economic class or two. Very disappointed in you and I can’t bring myself to listen to your music any longer – neither will my kids. I guess I just pledge allegiance to the greatest country in the world – America.

I have several friends who are Canadian and they moved here because of the health care system, economic opportunities and for the climate. One is already a US citizen and the others are considering although none of them plan to return to Canada full-time. If Beiber doesn’t like it here because Americans are evil then he should forget about all the money he’s making here and GO HOME to Canada.
