Singer Monica is married

L.A. Lakers player Shannon Brown and Atlanta singer Monica got married in November, but are just now telling people about it.
“This is a very special time in my life,” she said in a statement provided to HipHollywood.com. “I am blessed to have married the man that God sent me, he’s loving, compassionate, strong and supportive of my children, family and career. I look forward to our lives together.”
They plan to hold a ceremony for friends and family this summer and may want to have children, the singer said.
She toured with Trey Songz and Dondria, who is Jermaine Dupri’s new protoge, last summer. The photo at right was taken during a tour stop here in Atlanta.

I’m glad Monica found someone to love her. I love her singing, she seems so real. Just don’t start having babies because you are married. Wait a little while to see if things are going to work out with his kids, and baby mommas. God Bless your future.

I think it’s just another attempt for attention. She does have a nice voice, but she really can’t sing. Her reality show didn’t do all that good, her record sales have been down the drain ever since she and Brandy did “The Boy is Mine” and yes, I think is very desparate to be a wife. Raising two boys ain’t easy alone – even if Jermaine Dupri is the godfather.

Before Monica beacme a singer, a mother, and a wife she’s a child of GOD first, as we all are. Why is it so hard to be happy for someone but so easy to critcize. It take more energy to be negative than to be positive.

Monica’s fans are happy for her! Why keep it secret so long? I remember reading in a magazine less than one year ago she said she never wanted to get married, never dreamed of walking down the aisle in a white dress. Maybe that is why she saved that ceremony for the music video. I guess she meant she did not want to get married to Rocko because he did not want to marry her. Congratulations to all the kids and the couple! I wonder if she will live in LA year round now?

According to the bible each of them will burn in hell for having relations outside of marriage and cheating on their spouses. So too for the illegetimate children. It’s a shame.

I actually have known Monica since she was barely a teenager (enjoying our snowballs)…congrats! I know where she came from and to see where she is now as a successful “long tenured” R&B artist is wonderful. And, it doesn’t hurt that she married a Laker (my favorite team). Congrats Mo!

Rich Black, Monica and Shannon have never been married so they had no spouses to cheat on. Being a fiance or baby mama does not make a relationship legal. Monica and Rocko had broken up in 2009 and Shannon and his child’s mother had broken up before he got with Monica.

@Big Cat Black World??? Something intellectual people wouldn’t normally do??? Well pot let me introduce you to kettle, Britney Spears and her 5 minute marriage, Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney. It is a celeb thing not something that exist just in the “black world”. Please don’t pretend like Monica is the first celeb to do something us ordinary folk may think twice about. I have lost count of the number of times Lindsey Lohan has been to rehab, how many times has Charlie Sheen skirted criminal charges. Any reference to hate made in the post by most folks here was because many people said they didn’t even know who Monica was but still felt compelled to comment!
