Atlanta Falcons players Coy Wire and Brian Finneran worked their off-the-field moves Friday night, at a fabulous fashion show that benefited charity and displayed the skills of some talented young people.
The fourth annual Doggies on the Catwalk event was held at the Grady High School gym and featured the creations of students at the school’s UrbanCouture program.
B 98.5 FM Morning Show host Vikki Locke served as the evening’s emcee, and was escorted onto the runway flanked by the hunky Falcons – Wire on one arm and Finneran on the other.
Locke was joined on the runway by UrbanCouture director Vincent Martinez and complimented his always-chic style. (Here’s a link for the awesome blog Martinez writes, with photos of his students working with the models).
“Look at you in your skinny-jeans tuxedo!” Locke praised of his Tom Ford get-up. “I’m wearing T.J. Maxx!”
She was being far too humble, of course, and looked great.
Models included Evelyn Mims, Michaeline Roland, Lisa Rayner Tush, Jenni Lubo, Ellen Harden, Tammie Reed, Rich Eldredge, Reginald Walker, Richelle Carey, Rashan Ali, Elle Duncan, Marian Goldberg and Dennis Dean.
Student designers included Willame Boling, Olivia Roorbach, Jalesa Reid, David Bufkin, Mary Sommerville, Becca Daniels, Rakhety Livingston, Anisha Patel, Lindy Menefe, Timothy Bennett, Kayla Banes, Maiya Daniels and Asha Haki-Tyler.
Pro designer Annie Griffin served as the guest designer this year.
The event benefited a wonderful charity called Pets Are Loving Support, which provides food and basic care to the companion pets of the elderly or chronically ill.
After the show the grown-ups repaired to the Park Tavern across the street for a “Yappy Hour” celebration. It turns out Locke was celebrating a birthday over the weekend so everyone enjoyed cake and champagne.
We also visited with former CBS Atlanta on-air personality Corinna Allen, who caught us up with what all is up with her. She now works with a beauty products company promoting the firm on air. She has gotten engaged and plans to move to the Midwest, where her fiance is.
But before she leaves town she’s having her caricature unveiled at The Palm.
