Rodney Ho is on vacation this week so we’ll do our best to recap last night’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” (Hurry back RoHo!)
NeNe Leakes, who has landed an on-air role with WXIA doing celebrity bits, snags an interview with artist-producer Jermaine Dupri with the help of publicist Saptosa Foster. (By the way Saptosa is awesome. We work with her all the time on celebrity coverage. She’s very kind and professional. Here’s her website.)
When Saptosa tells NeNe the good news the budding entertainment broadcaster is elated and says, “I’ve got to call my people over at the news station!” Sort of reminds us of all the times we finish a phone call with Saptosa and then say, “I’ve got to call my people over at the AJC newsroom!” Oh wait. That never happens.
Cynthia Bailey also nabs a gig, modeling in a swimsuit fashion show in Miami. While on the phone with the fashion director she says she isn’t sure she’ll be bikini ready but never fear. She quips that she is willing to go “throw up what I just ate.” That’s some quality programming right there folks. Cynthia’s thrilled with the job because as her wedding approaches, she and her intended need every penny they can scrape together.
(I know it’s a reality-show necessity but sorta drives me nuts how everyone on this show constantly answers their cellphone on speaker, a la Michael Scott on “The Office.” Come on. WHO puts their cell phone on speaker?)
Phaedra Parks is still upset that Kandi Burruss told everyone the not-at-all-surprising news that her baby was actually born at full-term and not several weeks early as she had been insisting. But her maternal instincts seem to have kicked in. She expertly positions the baby and a burp cloth so he can breastfeed while she rants. Maybe the kid has a chance after all.
Kim Zolciak, about to go on tour with Kandi, models several racy outfits sure to entice the crowd. Her little girls join in the fun, prancing around in Mom’s high heels. Did y’all catch that the younger one goes, “Kiss, kiss!” and smooches Kim on each cheek as she arrives? It’s important to raise kids right, you know. Never too early to master the art of the air kiss.
In other Kim news she told People magazine that her pregnancy is “awesome.” She and Falcons player Kroy Biermann are expecting. Here’s that story.
Sheree Whitfield decorates an apartment for her daughter and that’s about it, unless we missed something.
The episode ends as all the ladies end up at Arista Spa, ostensibly to relax but actually to squabble. Cynthia brings up this bizarre “friend contract” once more. Kim and Phaedra scrap over this business with the baby again. Kandi just shakes her head like she is thinking, “I am a successful recording artist. Why did I sign up for this weekly train wreck?”
Finally a spa representative comes in to take the ladies to their respective restorative treatments. We suppose businesses let Bravo film in order to drum up brand awarness. Here’s our proposed motto for this week’s willing victim: “Arista Spa. Where you and people you don’t really like can sit around and yell at each other.”
