Celebs at Braves game

Ted at the Ted

Ted at the Ted

Well things didn’t work out for the Braves tonight but there was plenty of high profile fan sighting, at least. We spotted Ted Turner at the ball park named for him, sitting near former President Jimmy Carter and wife Rosalynn right behind home plate. 68028_1555715765423_1011078506_1589785_128963_n

The former president, who had a little health scare the other day, looked great and was wearing his trademark JC belt buckle.

He was wearing a Braves cap and gave us a thumbs up when we said hello.

Braves player turned analyst Brian Jordan was happy to be there to pull for his former boss. “I’m excited for Bobby Cox. Bobby’s a player’s manager,” Jordan said.

“The top word is respect. That’s something he gave all of us as players. He taught us to give 110 percent. I just want to see him go as far as he can go.”

We love Brian Jordan. Nicest guy in the world.

Moya Angela, starring in “Dreamgirls,” at the Fox this week, performed the National Anthem. “It was so last-minute. I think we found out on Friday,” Angela …

Tim McGraw took the stage and captivated the audience on Saturday night, but he wasn’t performing.

Instead, the country star was receiving an honor at the Men Stopping Violence awards dinner, held at the downtown Ritz-Carlton.

“I am a product of domestic violence,” McGraw said. “It is a learned behavior. I learned a lot. I learned how not to treat my wife, how not to treat my family. My wife, Faith Hill, is my inspiration and my partner in all I do.”

The couple founded the Neighbor’s Keeper Fund, which supports a number of community projects.

In addition to the work he and Faith do supporting charities, Tim is known for not putting up with guys behaving badly toward women at his shows. Here’s a story detailing how he ejected a fan from one of his concerts for treating a woman badly.

“You don’t treat women like that,” Tim said at the time.

Dolly Parton’s surprise appearance at the Fox

64950_1548006212689_1011078506_1573988_7703550_nWell guess who showed up at Saturday’s performances of the 9-to-5 musical at the Fox Theatre.

Dolly Parton!

She starred in the movie back in the day, you know, and just happened to be in town. She said she is here in talks about a movie project. We’ll work on finding what that is all about.

Anyway, Dolly thrilled the audience by strutting onto the stage following this Saturday’s shows. Looking fabulous as always, she took the microphone for  few minutes to say hello to everyone. Snellville’s own Diana DeGarmo plays the role of Doralee, which Dolly played in the movie. Here’s a review of Diana’s performance. She’s had a good deal of success performing in live theater roles since her run on “American Idol.”

Dolly stayed across the street at the Georgian Terrace while she was here.

“9-to-5″ has now departed the Fox. The final show here was Sunday.

Were you there on Saturday?
