Tyler Perry will discuss a difficult passage of his childhood with his close personal friend Oprah Winfrey today.

“He was beaten, scarred and nearly broken,” the Winfrey site says, giving a preview of today’s visit. “In a groundbreaking interview, Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry reveals the devastating details of his childhood sexual abuse.”

Winfrey’s show airs locally at 4 p.m.weekdays on Channel 2 WSB-TV.

Perry has been keeping busy as always lately, wrapping up his film “Colored Girls,” which was shot largely in the metro Atlanta area. It opens next month.

More recently, he announced on his site that he was pulling the plug on his latest traveling “Madea” play, explaining that he just needed a break. In a post on his site the other day he described today’s interview with Winfrey as the most in-depth one he’s ever given.

Why is it that all the stars have been sexually abused, or rape. So, what’s next, he’s gay? I don’t know, somebody needs ratings, and Madea nees need them more. play not doing well…

“Hollywood Mogul”??? PLEASE, he can’t afford Hollywood so he keeps his stable of culturally derogatory based characters in Atlanta.

And yes, Jay, there is a gay in Tyler Perry. DUUUHHHHHH

SMH – at the things posted. Seriously? Publicity Stunt – when he makes a killing off of his movies (good, bad or indifferent). Madea is dwindling – yet alot of his shows were sold out and he canceled them-and it never fails someone will always throw Obama in the mix NO MATTER what the topic. Although I do agree with Jay on one thing – it sure seems as if alot of stars were abused in some fashion as children. I hardly think that this man’s popularity, his films, or his character Madea are fading into the abyss.

Tyler Perry is a very talented man. I’m sure his past has made him the writer he is today. Don’t like what happened to him, but you can see it in his stories. You see the laughter through the pain. That’s life! Those of you that doubt his motives should walk a mile in his shoes.

I’m pretty sure Tyler Perry could care less about your perception of him or his films… as long as he can still hit #1 at the box office with his releases, I’m sure he’s laughing all of the way to the bank at you broke idiots…and to all of you predicting his demise, please come back to see me when he actually fails or goes broke….at this point your doom and gloom predictions are rather pointless…

Oprah wants to highlight a cause she has never talked about in 25 years, male sexual abuse. There will be 200 men in the audience, all who are part of an organization called Male Survivors, (check out their web-site). This show will give hope to thousands of men who currently live in shame and pain from the scars of their abuse.

At the end of the day or life, who really cares what other think of you when you are doing things with good intentions….I wouldn’t get so wrapped up on Tyler P. character in his movies, his “supposedly” failing career, him needing to get attention…I think about the young people who in an abusive situations and they can relate and can get the help to stop the abuse….as adults we are sometimes idiots, some are not looking at the situation of abuse, but trying to breakdown the reasoning for a person admitting they were abused…if TP come out the closet and say he is gay, so what…if TP rating go up because of this, so what….if a child muster up enough courage to tell someone because of TP, that what matters….

I really don’t believe that he is on Oprah telling something that is so very personal and hurtful to get rateings, even if the play is doing bad, Tyler Perry is a Mogul and I don’t think money is his weakest link. And its sad that people would say such hateful things, because if it is true then you should feel bad for not supporting him in what he have been thru as a child not an adult, WOW

You all may criticise, Tyler if you wish. This is America and you do have that right. However, what happened to him as a child, is not his fault. It is the fault of the adults who chose to abuse him. So what ever you feel or do not feel about him as a man, person or his talent. Please do not fault him for what happend to him when he was a child.

you silly d*am people! Criticize the man’s work all you want. But if he’s got a life story, untold story, to tell on Oprah, then hehell let him d#mnit!

As soon as a black person makes a big name for himself and becomes real big, stupid azz black people one by one try to tear him down! If it wasn’t for him, the ONLY thing black in movies y’all black neg-a-roes would have to go see and talk about would be the “Soul Planes” and “Lottery Tickets” of the hollywood world.

Keep putting him down when All hollywood gives us is clint eastwood and old azz Jack and Matt Damon and Kevin Costner and some other white man always being the savior of the world and best thing in the world.

At least Perry’s very imperfect films talk about life and real life in them. Sheeesh people!

No, Perry ain’t no god. He ain’t EVERYTHING. But he built an empire, which is 1 million times more than most of you bickering fools will EVER do!

Tear down the successful black man. Tear him down, chip chip chip away! Just because his movies are not Casablanca and just because he created a somewhat funny, somewhat wise female character that rubs a few of you down-low fellas and totally sexually unsatisfied females the wrong way! Like I said, Sheeeeesh! people!

I’m through!

America always has a way of trying to determine one’s sexuality. Whether Tyler is gay shouldn’t really matter. He has made an indelible impact on the lives of others. Perhaps if we can focus on what really matters in life, we would all be so much better. Despite what Tyler has done in his life or experienced, he continues to have my support. Come on America let’s stop judging others.

Just because a person appears on a television program does not require people to start judging that individual for whatever reason. Perhaps the issues that are being spouted about are ones that the American public needs more awareness. If everyone who appears on a television program are subjected to such ridicule from others, then there would never be a dialogue to discuss the issues that are being confronted.

Tyler Perry is a Christian, who is not ashamed to admit and celebrate it and it’s because of that, he is blessed. You don’t have to understand it or agree with it, it is so. I have been recently studying the concept in Bible study that in life & in salvation, “it’s not about you”. That means that all the successes and pain we experienced don’t really have anything to do with us alone. Your pain is a testimony for someone else to be set free. Your successes in life is for someone else to be encouraged & motivated by. A lot of people, including celebrities are just famous people who too have been hurt by a wrong touch, rape or some type of mental, verbal and/or emotional abuse/neglect. Stop being so cynical to believe it’s just for ratings. If Tyler Perry never sells another play or have a #1 movie, he’s rich enough and will always be richer than the ill mannered, jealous hearted, clueless and devil filled fools that comment on this blog. If truth be told, if most of you with the ill retorts shed some of that scabs on your soul, you’d be crying too just to be set free from within. The violence, rage, greed and sexual perversions we see today is just a manifestation of all the hurt so many people have been subjected to in life. Many of which, have had to deal with it alone/silently. I applaud Mr. Perry for being man enough to admit he’s been touched inappropriately as a child by a grown man (and woman). Most men won’t do that, which is why some are emotionally retarded & seemingly filled with so much rage. We all have a testimony, Mr. Perry has an awesome one. Thankfully, he uses it to do God’s will. You can call him gay, criticize his works and wish him to hell and the poor house but I believe that he is BLESSED by God. So with all your might, you will never be able to curse what/who God has anointed and blessed. God’s favor is always just!!! I wish Mr. Perry the best of luck and God’s continued favor in his life and works! For every person that will watch this program today and are going through the same pain, I pray in Jesus’ name they get the courage to seek help. For those who are inflicting such pain, I pray that they seek God’s forgiveness, saving grace & the professional & spiritual counseling they so much need. Look beyond the celebrity and see the humanity and pray for those going through who don’t have a voice.

For everyone hating, I don’t think TP needs ratings and whoever said that he won’t be around for a long time that is crazy. If he never does anything else he is a millionare unlike all of the haters on here. You think people like to admit that they were molestated? Hopefully TP’s story will help someone.
