Are you ready for some football...themed cocktails? Here's one for LSU fans, left, an UNC fans, at the downtown Ritz-Carlton

Ready to toast the end of summer? We checked out a few specialty cocktails this week to help you plan how to raise a glass to fall.

First, the downtown Ritz-Carlton has Louisiana State University and our fellow University of North Carolina fans covered with “Bayou Brew” and “Real Deal Tar Heel” cocktails. They’ll be on the menu at Lumen, the hotel’s bar, this weekend to commemorate the Saturday LSU-UNC game at the Georgia Dome.

Bayou Brew is made with Southern Comfort, Bacardi, Triple Sec, Berry Fusion Pucker, sour mix and cranberry juice. The “Tar Heel” features Stoli, Bacardi, Triple Sec, Blue Curacao, sour mix and Sprite.

Over at the Midtown W, mixologist Morgan Fose has created a number of elegant concoctions featuring Grey Goose vodka. The pear-tini, with Grey Goose La Poire, elderflower syrup and a splash of champagne, with a pear slice bobbing in the bubbles, is a popular one. For one final sip of summer, she has an Orange Summer Tea, with Grey Goose L’Orange, simple syrup, iced tea and mint leaves ready for your farewell toast.

The drink she sells the most of, a pomegranate-orange martini, isn’t actually on the menu, but she’ll hook you up. Tell her we sent you.

She’s a lot prettier than Captain Morgan. I wouldn’t mind having a sip of that “elegant concoction”.
