Want to be in “Footloose?” Today is the deadline!

The New Senoia Raceway is ready for its closeup

The New Senoia Raceway is ready for its closeup

The “Footloose” remake starring Andie MacDowell, Dennis Quaid, Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald, has been here filming in several locations.

The deadline to sign up is today if you’d like to help fill the background of two big scenes, at the New Senoia Raceway on Friday and at the Cowboys nightclub in Kennesaw on Oct. 11 and 12.

A scene coordinator told us they need between 1,500 and 2,000 background folks for each day of filming for these scenes.

Everyone – and we mean everyone – is invited to the racetrack. Because the race scene will depict a family, day-time outing, people are invited to bring their kids. For the scenes to be filmed at Cowboys, you need to be 18 or older.

There are no requirements for these particular scenes. No acting experience is needed and the scene coordinators aren’t looking for any particular “look.” Basically if you have a pulse, come on. Just don’t bring cameras onto the set or …

Star sightings, filming updates

62157_1540145216169_1011078506_1555950_697850_nGood Monday morning. It will be hard to compete with the news about Southwest buying AirTran, and the ongoing Bishop Eddie Long story, but we’ll do our best.

Sherry Stringfield, Lou Diamond Phillips and Jamie-Lynn Sigler are here working on a pilot for Lifetime.

Deadline Hollywood said the project is a drama that “centers on police detective Molly Collins (Stringfield), married mother of two on the verge of divorce, who, along with her partner Brooke Kross (Sigler), investigate the city’s most high-profile crimes while navigating their divergent personal lives. Phillips will play their boss, a police lieutenant.”

Does that sound a bit like TNT’s popular new cop drama “Rizzoli & Isles,” starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, to you? That show, by the way, has been renewed for another season.

Anyway, Stringfield, Phillips, Sigler, along with actor-director-producer Tim Matheson, had dinner at Pricci Friday night. Matheson has been involved with numerous Lifetime projects. …

T.I. and Tiny spotted at comedy club

Rapper-actor T.I. has been ordered to appear before a judge following his arrest on drug charges while on probation on a federal weapons charge, but it looks like he has not lost his sense of humor.

A tipster spotted the entertainer, also known as Clifford Harris Jr., and his new wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle at the Uptown Comedy Corner Tuesday night. They caught comedian D. L. Hughley’s 10 p.m. show.

Were you there?

Hughley apparently spotted his famous audience members quickly and cracked a few jokes about T.I.’s legal woes. Ouch!

But T.I. apparently took the ribbing in stride since he and Tiny stuck around for the entire show.

Afterward they chatted with a few fans before taking off, our source says.

The U.S. Attorney handling T.I.’s case isn’t amused, though. A date has not been set for his appearance before the court but it doesn’t seem like it will be any sort of laughing matter.

“We are very disappointed in Mr. Harris’ recent conduct,” U.S. Attorney Sally Yates said in …

Trailer for new Tyler Perry movie

FOR-COLORED-GIRLS-550x366Have you seen the trailer for Tyler Perry’s upcoming film adaptation of the play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf?”

It’s up on his website now. Here’s the link.

The title, being something of a mouthful, is being shortened for the film to just “For Colored Girls.” The movie stars a slew of big names including Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Whoopi Goldberg, Phyllicia Rashad and Thandie Newton, who stepped in at the last minute when Mariah Carey had to bow out. It hits screens next month.

It was filmed largely in the metro Atlanta area, with some shots in New York. There’s a snippet in the trailer that was definitely shot here – at the Joan Glancy Memorial Hospital in Duluth, which is part of Gwinnett Medical Center.

The film originally was to premier in early 2011 but it is being released early. Maybe to be eligible for a 2010 Oscar? It looks powerful. Will you plan to see it?

Star sightings: T.I. and Jennifer Aniston

We have a couple of star sightings to tell you about today. T.I., known in legal circles as Clifford Harris Jr., stopped by Straits to hang out with restaurant owner Ludacris and Trey Songz, who is celebrating a new CD release.

Twitter fan Luda let his legion of followers know about it. “Trey just ordered like 15 chicken lollipops!” the hip hop artist/businessman tweeted.

T.I., of course, is back in Atlanta in part to deal with the legal fallout of his arrest in Hollywood. We’ll keep an eye on that. (In other stars-in-trouble news, here’s an update about Kid Rock’s DeKalb County trial. He’s in court this week answering charges stemming from that Waffle House brawl three years ago).

Alright, moving on. In other news, the Buzz satellite operation headquartered in North Georgia checked in this morning with news that Jennifer Aniston is now staying in a private home on Lake Burton as filming for her project “Wanderlust” co-starring Paul Rudd continues.

Jen was spotted in …

Q100’s Bert Weiss is a busy guy even when he turns off the microphone. He and his wife, Stacey, are active with their charity, Bert’s Big Adventure, which provides fun getaways for kids with serious medical issues and their families.

The Weisses take a group to Disney World every year – all expenses paid. They also coordinate a group of local volunteers who spend time with children in area hospitals. It gives the kids a fun visit to look forward to, and spells the parents who can take a short break during that special time.

This Friday, you can join Bert and Stacey for a delicious dinner at Dogwood to help fund the charity’s work. Proceeds from the five-course wine dinner by Chef Shane Touhy will benefit Bert’s Big Adventure, a non-profit organization.  The event starts at 7 …

Black Crowes to stage hands: no contact

We guess it's ok to look at this photo. By Josh D. Weiss/special

We guess it's ok to look at this photo. By Josh D. Weiss/special

The Black Crowes rocked the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Saturday night. Inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, they played a three-song mini set, closing with an awesome rendition of “Georgia on My Mind.”

Afterward, when he took the stage to accept the honor, front man Chris Robinson joked that Saturday night marked the first time in 20 years that the guys had all washed their hair.

As engaging as they were on stage, we hear it was a different story back stage. A couple of sources who had back-stage duties that night said the band was sort of particular.

There was to be no contact between the band and the various persons working back stage. No photos. No contact. One source said workers were told to not even look at the Crowes.

Hey, they’re rock stars, right? We suppose they’re sort of duty bound to be eccentric.

Jennifer Aniston, Andie MacDowell sightings

Good Monday morning! Here are some star sightings to kick off the week.

A couple of sources texted us over the weekend to say they’ve spotted Jennifer Aniston shopping in the Buckhead Whole Foods – the one right across the street from the St. Regis and Chops, where she had dinner last Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Radaronline says Jen pulled on a ball cap and went to see John Mayer’s concert at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood last week, and that he then came back to her hotel for an “impromptu party.”

“Jennifer Aniston just can’t seem to let go of her failed romance with rocker John Mayer!” is how they put it. Dang, Radar, tell us how you really feel.

In other news the lovely Andie MacDowell is in town for the “Footloose” remake starring Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald. Andie was spotted doing a little shopping in Buckhead Sunday afternoon. She stopped into Luna boutique and selected a leopard print dress, a pair of Levi’s and a few tops.

Andie plays the reverend’s wife …
