Jovita Moore, right, crowned winners of the Ritz-Carlton's hat contest on Sunday
“I’m not much of a hat wearer,” insisted Channel 2 Action News anchor Jovita Moore, who looked lovely nonetheless at a loaner chapeau Sunday afternoon.
The occasion was the Buckhead Ritz-Carlton’s final “Hatitude” tea of the summer. Throughout the month of August some 600 exquisitely topped ladies indulged in high tea at the local landmark. Each week, finalists were selected in four categories; daintiest, pillbox, Victorian and wardrobe coordination.
Sunday’s tea, which was complimentary for the finalists, featured the big moment of truth. Moore plucked winners from among the finalists from, what else? A hat box.
The winners, who received prizes such as overnight stays, spa visits and monthly high tea for a year, were: Cathy Metaxopoulos (represented by her friend Barbara Rothe), Lindsay Jones, Heddy Froselldaponte andAlison O’Connell.
“I applaud you for your audacity and your sassiness!” Moore said.
The “Hatitude Tea” event returns next August.
