Boo! Ghost hunters in Midtown, Stone Mountain

Could Rhodes Hall be haunted?

Could Rhodes Hall be haunted?

The Syfy Channel has been in town, tracking down spooks and haints.

(Can you tell Buzz is from the South?)

The Ghost Hunters show was taping this week  at Stone Mountain Park’s Antebellum Plantation, and Rhodes Hall in Midtown. They won’t tell us what they found, since that could ruin the surprise. And the Ghost Hunters are all about suspense, right?

The episode is scheduled to air this fall. We’ll let you know when we have more specific details.

Love this show! Since it began, I’ve wanted to go on a “hunt” with these guys.

They need to go to the Battlefields at Kolb Farm in Marietta! That place is eerie as all get out. Lots of soldiers died that and at under the soil! I have had weird things happen there. I took some pictures at the Illinois Monument and every photo came out blurry. My camera has auto focus!

What about the Fox Theatre? Don’t we have a resident ghost there?

Ghost Adventures is a better show.

Agree with Disembodied Bob. Much better “reaction” from supposed ghosts from the Ghost Adventures team. Ghost Hunters are too laid back to engage a living person much less a dead one.

Should have tried the Masquerade or my former house.

I have had one encounter of the ghostly-type in my life, and even though it was a family member that passed on and gave me a reassuring message, it scared me to death. They need to come to my house if they want a REAL ghost to talk to.

Huh?

P.S. It was NOT a dream. I sat straight up in bed, and talked to the spirit! I had just gone to bed, and wasn’t even NEAR sleep.

I’ve seen at least 3 episodes where they made stuff up, using wires or something to create effects- where their clothing was pulled back when they stepped over a certain spot- and a couple where I could explain something they swore was supernatural- when a cameraperson clearly stepped on a board starting a chain reaction which made things fall. I stopped watching. You really have to question people who are more about selling the tools they use than about trying to record true supernatural events. The only episode that comes to mind that was truly a question was the one at Eastern State Pen.

I have been doing paranormal research and investigations now for a couple of years. We just did a plantation (private) a few weeks back and it was highly active, it had never been investigated before, that was a prize!. I’ve done several homes, plantations, battlefields, and other locations that have had reported activity. Cheatham Hill (where the Illinois monument is) is residual, they are memories. The soldiers are still there fighting the war, like a movie. I have EVP’s of cannon fire, gun fire, heavy marching thru the woods. We have a list of other locations that we have had good success at. We have been attacked, touched, and we have actually brought them home with us. Its definitely not something for amateurs to be doing as it can be really dangerous. Before we started, we did a lot of research and learning before we set out to the field. It’s been fun. I like the Ghost Hunter show in some ways and Ghost adventures in another. The real-time play back of GA is nice, but the presentation after the fact with GH is good as well. Most teams do the reveals like GH. GH did Gaither Plantation last year, and we were the first group to do it right aftwards. Pretty cool place. It’s really exciting to reach out to communicate with the spirits, and them actually respond back!

The Mansion over in Carrollton is a haunt as well… Creepy stuff going on upstairs!

The shows are goofy though, but interesting enough to watch when there is nothing on.

Gaither’s Plantation is a GREAT place! Beautiful and haunted…what a great combo! I went with a group before GH’s went and was very impressed by the activity there. The group I’ve went with took a very scientific approach and we still were stumped by some of the evidence. I’d love to go on a hunt with GH!

All of these shows are a fraud. Ghost Hunters has been debunked and proven to have manufactured every big piece of so-called evidence.

GH never does cemeteries (unless they are on the property they are otherwise investigating) but I agree Oakland would be really neat to do.

I know what will happen … There will be a found faint sounds, a lot of raccoon eyes and maybe an indecipherable recorded whispering that could either be a ghost … or gas.

Most … boring .. show … evah. Like watching paint dry. In the dark.

I honestly think the best thing about Ghost Hunters was the South Park sendup of it, in which the ghost hunters mistake peeing themselves for paranormal activity.

Have you noticed that it’s almost always Grant that has the encounters they say are supernaturaL? I guess he’s the better actor of the two main guys.

my parents always told us there were no such things as ghosts.
That lasted until we moved into a haunted home.
I still remember my Mom getting the phone book out at 3am looking for a real estate office.
They wanted out. My Parents later told us(10 years) they were terrified and had no clue what to do. This was about 40 years ago. I respect the opinion of people who do not believe in ghosts, They just have never encountered the paranormal. When you do , your mind changes.

I’d like to see GH go to Sloss Furnace over in Birmingham. That is a truly creepy place but oh so cool!

Ghost Adventures went there, but Zak Bagans is a little too much to take. You can only take him yelling “OH MY GOD!! DID YOU JUST HEAR / SEE THAT?” for just so long before you have to turn it off.

Ghost adventures are the worsst actors of our time! Zak can’t do anything “but” get possessed by some weird girly ghost. I love the ghost hunters–they at least try to debunk what they can. Anyone who warch these shows know what is really going on anyway. No surprises!

Ghostette, they also set gags up themselves, I’ve seen more than one episode where they were using wires to pull at Grants jacket. They’re not honest about it that’s for sure. Ghost Adventures is too much those guys wouldn’t last 10 minutes in a real situation where the supernatural is involved, they would pee their pants

Ghost Hunters is scientific to Ghost Adventures’ “dude! I’m getting chills” reaction. I like them both but for different reasons. The Ghost Adventures dudes are goign to be at Dragon Con Labor Day weekend. Wonder if they’ll do some hunts while they’re here?

The only measure worthwhile is how much potential paranormal activity they are able to INSTIGATE and capture on film or audio, and GA does a much better job at this than GH. I like Jason and Grant, they’re good guys, but Zack and his team get the reactions which is where it counts when I’m watching the show. I’ve been much more impressed with the “evidence” on GA than on GH.

It is an insult of the nth degree for this network and program to use the rich heritage of Georgia for their ratings. Ghost Hunters have been caught numerous times rigging and faking activity at locations and past cast member Donna LaCroix spilled the beans about it all.

Jason and Grant, just cause you have personal friends in Atlanta doesn’t mean you get to make a laughing stock out of our historically haunted state and shame on you for trying. Go somewhere else with the Avena’s, possibly Death Valley.

The only ghosts people should worry about are
the ghosts of the past. There enough people who
have murdered in ATL during Jim Crow and the Civil
Rights movement to make a Tarzan movie.(Fred Sanford)

Perhaps, they should go to the capital,no one has on duty
since Roy Barnes!

I would like to see T.A.P.S. return to the Crescent Hotel.I have some wonderful e.v.p.s,camcord evidence, lots of photographs.I was very disappointed in the recent show “My Ghost Stories”.The Crescent is a truely wonderful place.I have on footage a BANG in room 218.An e.v.p.of little sarah.K2 readings on David’s steps that are mind boggeling when my 2 sons were seated on those stairs. The best one of all, is an e.v.p.caught both on my camcord & the e.v.p.unit around Dr. Norman Bakers & Theodora’s room(419).Yet,I heard nothing until the play back. That one is very, very creepy.
