Souper Jenny to close today! (For a month)

buzzlevison0402.jpg1-300x224For the past 11 years, Souper Jenny, the quirky little soup shop in Buckhead, has closed for vacation during the month of August, causing throngs of soup fans to crowd the place right beforehand, stocking up for the hiatus.

This year, owner Jenny Levison is shutting down for the month of July instead, so if you want some soup, get over there to-DAY.

She’ll be doling out free ice cream from West Side Creamery. During the break, Levison and staffers Marcie Millard, Sharon Litzky and Rachel Miller are performing in the musical “Company” at Stage Door Players in Dunwoody.

Eat at Papis! It’s good and you know where it is. It’s near your house!

Darn…wish I knew sooner as can’t get over there today. Where else during the hot and steamy month of July can I get a great Gazpacho soup? Roasters on Lenox has a great one but any other good places for me to try? Thanks and enjoy your break Jenny!

The person who writes the headlines for the web site home page needs to move over to the National Enquirer. They tend to be misleading – either making the news sound more shocking than it really is, or disguising the fact that it’s an AP post or from another Cox-owned newspaper elsewhere in the country. “Governor getting divorced” is much more shocking for people in Georgia until we click on it and see it’s about the governor of South Carolina.

The link for this post says “Souper Jenny Closing.” Until you clicked on the link, people would assume it was for good. After all, Joel closed on Friday with no advance warning at all.

It might hurt their business if people see that headline, drive by and see them closed, and assume that they’re not reopening.

I’d go but I make it a point to not eat at restaurants with a health score below 90. Unfortunately Souper Jenny’s currently has an 84. My friend went last weekend and gave me the bad news. I understand that the 84 reflects whatever was going on the day the inspector came but you should always be on top of your game and to me that means always scoring a 90 or above. Hopefully they’ll ask for a rescore once they finish their summer break. Because I must admit they do have very good food.

I AGREE WITH MIKE 100%! These asses for journalists they have at this paper Pull that crap all the time with their story headlines and you read it and maybe go OH NO depending on the content. Make the damn headline say shutting down for 1 month or vacation WTF!! THIS IS EXACTLY Why when they have called for a subscription I have and ALWAYS will reject the offers. If they ever start to charge for this online I’ll find another to read. In fact I only read and skim over mostly the front page now because of these bullcrap headlines!

Unfortunately Souper Jenny’s currently has an 84.

That’s not a very good score. Count me out.

Love Souper Jenny and glad it’s only for a month. We rarely go in the summer anyway.

As for AJC headlines I’m all in with the others! Of course what gets me more than the misleading headlines is the constant typos, missing letters, missing words in their articles.

84, eh? Maybe they’re shuttering the store for 30-days to scrub things. And so what with the headlines, schmeadlines. Never underestimate ANYONE’s ability to lie to the media about their motives. Happens all the time. Why does the media exist except to be our publicity tool anyway? Anyone believing too much in the myth of media committing pure journalism deserves all the misleading they can stuff in their fat faces.

The headline says, “Souper Jenny to close today! (For a month)”

I’m sorry if that was hard for anyone to understand.

To those of you worried about health scores…you should try being in any of your favorite restaurants when the health inspector comes! Every health inspector is different and scores vary widely. The day our health inspector came this time, we were crazy busy and these were our offenses…*a kitchen employee had a can of soda on a table where they were working. *The back mop sink had some cleaning supplies in it. *The cover was not on the light bulb in the walk in. * several employees had their cloths for wiping things with them instead of soaking in a solution of bleach. Souper Jenny is Super clean and I am happy to give ANYONE a tour of my kitchen! Just ask…
