NeNe’s new job – as a morning-show personality
Those of us in the media have a big time chronicling the “Housewives,” and now one of them seems to be joining us.
NeNe Leakes “will be joining the 11Alive morning crew this summer. She’ll be bringing her fun and sense of humor to some great entertainment and feature segments,” the station said.
We just got word that the Housewives will be shooting scenes for the upcoming season on Bravo tonight at Twist, if you’d like to stop by and gawk.
Leakes herself has been newsworthy lately, showing up at an event sporting a new nose. It’s unclear whether she’ll be discussing that on air, but if you miss her on WXIA you can catch her on Bravo.
“Her work at 11Alive will be documented by Bravo and part of the upcoming fall season of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ ” the station’s statement continued.

Not sure if I want to view this. Channel 11 is drawing at straws to improve their ratings but this is not going to help.

11 Alive News is a joke. Their new commercials are so stupid…about how they want to change the lives of Atlantans by how they report the news. Just shut up and report the news. Really all we need to know is who got shot in southwest Atlanta that day, and a 5-minute segment on the weather. Then shut up. At least they’re not as bad as trying to watch Monica Pearson. Watching her is like watching a bad MAD TV skit. I hate the way she emotes every story, and how she squeals and giggles, and mugs for the camera. She should have retired years ago. I quit watching WSB years ago because of her. Atlanta news really sucks, although Russ Spencer and Jovita Moore are great.

Okay people, the joke is over. It was funny while it lasted. 11Alive execs must not have seen any episodes of RHOA, because if they had, they certainly would not have made this move. Adding Nene only diminishes the program’s standing and relevance. She is an embarrassment to the city and should never be taken seriously. This is nothing more than a slap in the face of all of those who came up through the ranks of school in order to get a degree and one day work in this field. Unfortunately stations like this are only about one thing: ratings. So it won’t matter how educated or hard working you are, if you either a) have good looks or b) are a celebrity, you don’t need to be educated to work in the journalism field.
Message to all of her defenders: think before you speak. You are basically stating that in order to be successful in life you just have to act on TV. Even if all she is doing is reporting on celebrity gossip, you’d have to be really pathetic to watch!

It seems as if 11alive had managed to be quite balanced with its content and coverage, resisting the urge to become one of these entertainment/celebrity programs packaged in a news wrapper. Kinda disappointed in this move, but they’ve earned the right to experiment in my view. Just hope. . . things work out, SOON.

Anyone who says she is a classy lady is a complete and total idiot. The fact that she was a stripper makes me want to throw up. I’d flipping pay her to keep her clothes on! She got this job because a bunch of low rent morons actually watch her show – it has NOTHING to do with her “talent” as some of you are putting it. Her talent was taking her clothes off for men who must have either been blind or just attracted to nasty hookers. Anyone who looks up to her in any way should be removed from the gene pool because they are dragging the rest of us down.

Ne Ne is where she is because of ratings and people like you who are watching her, you have to be watching her in order to form an opinion about her. One way or another the white man will find a way to keep the Minstral show going. This is how white peole see black women and black people in general as loud, bafoons. This started 400 years ago and as we can see it is still alive and well today. I’m sure they could have found someone more qualified with the unemployment rate here in GA. NeNe is not a “must see” type of person nor a fun personality like Neicy Nash and the likes. She is just plain annoying and will send channel 11 to an early grave with their ratings.

Channel 11 obviously needs a large ratings boost. We all know that some people are fascinated by train wrecks and negative news, in general. I can’t think of a bigger train wreck or negative news than NeNe. Channel 11 is looking to boost its demographic ratings, if you understand my meaning. I don’t currently watch Ch 11, and I do not plan to in the future. This news is just to sad.
