Dear Whitney Houston:
I hope life treats you kind. Kinder than some of the fans at your recent show in London. That doesn’t seem likely as long as you keep singing.
Love, Buzz

Whitney Houston performs in London. (AP Photo/Joel Ryan)
The diva croaked through another show on what is becoming a disastrous tour with booing (and sometimes departing) fans reacting to her shambles of a voice. After her froggy performance at London’s O2 Arena, she apologized and blamed the air conditioning.
“Sometimes the old girl sings, but not tonight,” Houston told the crowd, according to a news report in the Guardian. “I want to do it, but she doesn’t want to … She’s getting a little temperamental.”
The troubled performance has, of course, been well documented on YouTube (although some fans have posted comments suggesting security guards have tried to stop people from making recordings during concerts – good luck with that).
Here’s our favorite video of the London performance - make that attempt - at her famous “I Will Always Love You.”
Houston, winded and wheezy, takes a lengthy time-out during the middle of the song, and whoever made this recording cheers encouragingly, “Come on…come on…hit it…yes!”
The independent filmmaker quickly turns on her, moaning “Oh God, that’s awful!” as Houston screeches out the final notes of the ballad.

That was painful to listen to. Whitney is done and should really give all ticket buyers their money back, come home and try working on an acting career because her singing career is done. She has always been a awful actress but perhaps she can get a great coach and do a couple of movies. Maybe she could be a judge on American Idol. Anything but sing.

I think that her drug usage and smoking took a toll on her voice – the talent is gone. Clive may see now to cut his “LOSSES” and perhaps there are some who need to have a reality show for spelling in their neck of the woods and that way when they post it won’t be a train “WRECK”.

I feel terrible. I love Whitney Houston and I pray that she is not abusing the drugs again. I remember when I used to sing consistently, my voice was reliable, but once I introduced cigarettes into the equation, my voice suffered. Perhaps a few more years of training and it will return, mine did. But she must forbid the cigarettes from now on, they rob you of oxygen and volume. My love goes out to you Whitney. If you ask the Lord to assist you in your struggle, he will delivery you. God’s blessing.

I used to love Whitney Houston. Correction I still love her, but only the old Whitney Houston BEFORE she started smoking crack/cocaine. This is so sad. She should just bow out and give speeches to young people and show them why they should ALWAYS say ‘NO’ to drugs. She had a beautiful voice. It is a God given talent and she destroyed it with using drugs. This is such a sad story. She is now blaming the a/c as to why her voice is jacked up! She need to accept the fact that she will never be able to sing like she used to. I will say that she sounds a heck of a lot better than MOST ’so called’ singers that are out here not making records, but not like the old Whitney. God Bless her.

Oh man! I was so hopeful when she finally dumped that thug Bobby Brown that she would return to using that beautiful gift she was given, her voice. I don’t really know what’s going on with her now but it sure doesn’t sound good. I pray she has not returned to bad habits. You know what they say, if you don’t use it you lose it. Maybe she ignored her talent for too long and developed too many bad habits. I would like to say that if she keeps working on it, she can get it back. I hope that is true because she used to have maybe the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard.

Sally-
You may want to check your sources. Bobby Brown, contrary to what people WANT to believe, did not create or take Whitney down a drug infested road. Whitney grew up in East Orange, NJ. She and my aunt are the same age. My Aunt grew up in South Jersey and knew friends up top. It’s no secret that Ms. Whitney was doing drugs looooong before Bobby came into the picture. They were two peas in a pod. Why do you think they gravitated towards each other? She just had a better crew covering her dirt i.e. her mom and Clive Davis. So please don’t be mistaken. Whitney is on the road she set for herself. She just found someone as toxic as she was.

Why do we always want to know and talk about the bad in someone. There are a lot of singers out there who cant sing. Yes, perhaps uer glory days are over but has anyone seen Stevie, Lionel or any others from the 1970s forward. At least she is trying.
Do I think that with all that is going on in the world today that her failures should be so a story. No. But before you count her down and out remember we recently watched a major melt down of another singer who totally lost her mind and her children in front of us. Ang guess what she is back — without her children unfortunately — but better than ever.
So like the kids say – stop hating and start helping.

Everyone has an opinion and we sometimes need to think before we speak. Regardless of what is or what is not going on in Whitney’s life we should pray and stop being so negative. All of us have sinned and fallen short. Would we want all of our dirt to be expose. I think not. So instead of criticizing and making fun of Whitney, we should stop and look at ourselves and say “Thank you Jesus that could of been me”. If you do not believe in the power of prayer, you need to shut up.

The problem with Whitney is she’s trying to provide a live performance where she actually sings. Why not just come out in different costumes for each song, dance around the stage and lip sync to her old recordings. Seems to work for other “performers” that can’t sing live or have techno overdubs that render the vocals fuzzy. Come into this century Whitney where singers don’t sing live anymore.

These are the same people that would buy a NASCAR ticket and then get mad because they have a crash. Point is, you expect the crash and you expect Whitney to suck due to her lifestyle for the last 15 years. So why boo?

Sadly Whitney’s voice is gone. I don’t think she is on drugs. What I do suspect is that the years of smoking cigarettes has taken its toll on her vocal chords. It appears she is sweating probably because she is out of shape for putting on a concert. I have seen many folks in concert and as a singer it takes a lot of of you to perform for one hour. She is much older now, her body has been damaged from the years of drinking and drugs. I think the kindest thing her staff can do is to just ask her to stop touring and take some time to regain her acting career. Although I agree with the sentiments she wasn’t a GREAT actress. However many folks today aren’t. She will be in good company.

Joanne, I agree wholeheartedly with much of what you stated, however, it appears that you are just another arrogant Believer whose mouth does more harm than good. I submit to you that your responsibility as a Believer is to bring folks to Christ and let Him handle the rest. Not everyone knows about or believes in the power of pray but instead of using this as an opportunity to teach and reach, you respond by telling them they need to shut up. If the Lord hasn’t silenced you, who are you to suggest that others be silent? Pray as you go, Whitney, and you will be led accordingly!!

This is not a racial issue for those ignorant enough to try and make it one. It’s just about a has-been whoes come back has failed miserably. Whitney had her day in the sun and she, like so many in the biz, blew it with drugs. The cold, hard truth is, though we may all deserve a second chance, we dont all get one. And if we do, it sometimes doesn’t work out. Now it’s time for her to accept the consequences of her actions and take her lumps. She’s washed up and that’s that. Goodbye Whitney. I hope the one good thing that can come of this is a lesson for the younger singers up and coming. But I doubt it.

if you can’t perform at your best, then stop charging for tickets.
that happened in concord, ca (near san francisco) 10 years ago, back when the drug addiction was being explained away as, “she has a cold”. no believed it, especially when whitney cancelled her concord gig barely 1 hour before showtime.
the city government of concord got so mad at whitney, they sued to recover the cost of the police services for that afternoon. they failed, but they certainly didn’t just sit there and let her flimsy excuse go unchallenged.
the people who paid for parking did not get a refund, and those who tried to return their tshirts and souvenir books also were told, “tough”
so a few years later, the truth about whitney cancelling her concerts finally did come out. it’s probably in her contract now that she has to perform no matter how messed up she is, but what people are getting is a pile of hot you-know-what onstage.
you probably have sistas at your local karaoke bar who can do whitney’s songs better than whitney is able to do now. and you can listen to them for FREE.

This makes me SO sad. That was not good, but I’m really rooting for Whitney. OMG. So sad. Cannot even joke about this. I know she did it to herself, but I feel badly for her. Damn it, Whitney.

Firt off, I would like to say that people are so judgemental of others. I mean if we are all excluded from mistakes, errors, mishaps, etc. in our life then we would be perfect just like GOD, and last time I checked no one on this earth is perfect, but him. Yes, Whitney probably did do a horrible job, but she still had the guts to atleast try to please her fans and do her best. Secondly, yes, I know a lot of people spent a lot of money, and had other reasons for going to her show, However, if you are a beliver of GOD, then you should know- you’ll get your blessings in other ways. Lastly, seriously people take yourself out of your shoes, would you all want someone to be that hard on you for atleast trying? Judge not so you will not be judged.

I belive she will get better if she just pray. I know she can turn things around for herself.
Jesus can work it out if you she let him.

Just imagine how much different and better her life/ career would of been if she had married a quality white man like in the bodyguard movie instead of some thug low life!

Is it drugs, age, or both? That was absolutely awful. I’d be livid if I paid good money to see that.

Always remember WHERE and WHO your BLESSING came from!! Make sure that everything you do or will do put God first, make sure that you keep Him first no matter what it looks like around you, just stay strong and believe. You know satan ALWAYS makes something good turn bad when he is finished. Ask God for your BLESSING back!!! Don’t count on man for ANYTHING, except for pain or the wrong information.

Whitney was entitled to a huge ego. You don’t become that successful without the same….She must have wanted to do GREAT for her fans but certainly is feeling very disappointed now. Don’t be nasty and count her out..wait to see her next move.. I wont bet against her. Hang in there WH.
