“Pants on the Ground” singer sued

american-idol-larry-platt-pants-on-the-ground-2jpg-b1f762f60174f065_largeAttorney Leron Rogers of the Hewitt & Rogers law firm has filed a lawsuit against Larry Platt, whose song “Pants on the Ground” made him an overnight celebrity after he performed it as an “American Idol” audition.

Rogers says the suit was filed on behalf of his client, American King Music, regarding a music distribution agreement for the song “and for expenses related to producing, writing and recording of Mr. Platt’s official recording of the single.”

Platt’s manager, Pinky Brittain, called the lawsuit “absurd.”

“This is another ploy to claim something that belongs to Gen. Larry Platt,” she said. “He can’t get a break. This is so stupid.”

Platt, who has appeared on The View and on the Grammy Awards red carpet and has been honored by the Atlanta City Council and Georgia Assembly since his song captured the nation’s imagination,  recorded a full-length version of “Pants on the Ground” with hip hop artist Mims at Mims’s studio.  American King Music, Rogers said, “funded the recording session and music distribution of the single on iTunes as well as Mims’ production and co-writing of the full-length song.”

In a statement Rogers said, “My client, American King Music, who funded Mr. Platt’s recording session with Mims, would like to compensate Mr. Platt for the sales of the full-length hit song ‘Pants on the Ground’ which we made available on iTunes. However, Mr. Platt and his representatives have failed to take care of Mr. Platt’s obligations.”

Brittain counters that Platt never signed an agreement with American King Music, and says her client’s attorney is Phaedra Parks, whose name has been bandied about as a potential addition to The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

I have known Larry for several years and I know him to be an honorable, respectable and kind person. We all knew someone would try to take advantage of himm Thus music industry ask why people are not buying their products its because there products no longer speak to music but to greed and this is just another example. What exactly makes this news? Just another idiot trying to make a buck over some idiotic song about hood rat blacks and stupid wannabe white kids walking around with their pants hanging down. The Atlanta City Council and The Georgia General Assembly had him as a guest. What an embarassment for Georgia! I would say what an embarassment for Atlanta, but they are used to that.

Wait… Why is he being sued? The only thing the mentions WHY he’s being sued is the quote: “My client, American King Music, who funded Mr. Platt’s recording session with Mims, would like to compensate Mr. Platt for the sales of the full-length hit song ‘Pants in the Ground’ which we made available on iTunes. However, Mr. Platt and his representatives have failed to take care of Mr. Platt’s obligations.”
So…Lemme get this straight. Mr. Platt being sued because the producer wants to pay Mr. Platt? Can we get a new reporter to write this article in an effort to explain the headline? There’s no real mention of why Platt is being sued. Apparently he’s just simply being sued. No wonder news media is going down hill…

Ohhh Boy….. Leron Rogers, Esq.

here is what his website said:

He has represented multi-platinum selling and Grammy wining artists, songwriters and producers as well as successful management companies, record labels and publishing companies. Some of Mr. Rogers’ elite celebrity practice has included representation of Steve Harvey, Multi-platinum R&B group Silk, DMX, Q. Parker (112), Erick Sermon (EPMD), Professor Griff (Public Enemy), Dead Prez and Lil Scrappy among others.

His elite celebrity practice has represented:
Silk—- WHO?
DMX– Jail Bird
Q – WHO?
Parker (112) — WHO?
Eric Sermon – WHO?
Professor Griff – Public Enemy — I think I heard of him in the 90’s
Dead Prez — I have heard of them – good group — but they get no radio play
Lil Scrappy — LIL’ WHO?

His website says he has represented Steve Harvey — I can’t see this happening – Steve has suits older than this guy….

Hewit & Rogers — needs all the BAD PRESS they can handle…just gotta jump in the fray…gotta be in the mix —free publicity… I HOPE NOT — But with that list of ELITE CLIENTS – yours not mine— WELL…….I’m just saying…. (do I need to toss in the word allegedly!) LOL

Larry Platt stole that song anyway. He, nor anyone else, should make a dime off it. Stop celebrating this freak.
He’s supposedly a “civil rights icon”, but his behavior in Vegas showed what he is,,,an old pervert. Every photo of him showed some barely-legal WHITE girl draped around him. The guy he supports, Troy Davis, what proof do YOU have that the guy actually killed a cop. As I understand it, this case is now in doubt. I wonder if that cop was anything like those katrina thug cops who killed two innocent men? Pratt has his 15 mins, let him enjoy it and stop being so jealous.

What….you’re the moron. Just because a white person doesn’t agree with a black person, that doesn’t make them a racist. It makes them sick that your “community” will celebrate ANY black person, regardless of actual contributions to society.

Anyway, looks like Larry is the racist. What he got against the sista-s? He don’t want no black chicks, just some pristine young white girls. Now who is the racist?

Black people need to come up with a new argument OTHER than racism. Show a little intellegence and form an ARGUMENT, and take your race card and shove it you-know-where.

Saying Tiger hates black people is absurb & stupid. Maybe he just hates what he sees in the mirror everyday, himself. He has issues & I could care less if he hates me or not because the feeling is mutual. I don’t care for him or Kobe Bryant. They don’t sign my checks & do anything for me, not that I want them to, so why should I care how they feel about anything or anyone. GET A LIFE!

It’s not his fame they want, it’s his money. Any time you have money somebody wants it and will sue you for it. The accusations may be absurd, but judges, politicians, attorneys etc. can all be bought. Some wealthy, or highly insured people that have been sued are, Michael Jackson, day care centers, movie stars and high income sports figures by their spouses, Anna Nichole Smith, Christie Brinkley, it’s a long list. Money and greedy people have no morals and yes the record sharks will take all they can.

If he signed the deal then he’s got to pay up — If he didn’t sign a contract, then he has nothing to worry about. What I want to know is how he gets away with calling himself “General”, which is an insult to every person who has ever served in the armed forces. I worked with Mr. Platt for a few years and I can tell you as a fact that he has NEVER been in the military, That’s like these patheteic preachers who call themselves “Doctor….” yet they have no PHd and have not earned the right to that title. I also have to wonder about this garbage about him being some sort of civil rights leader. Pure BS — he has had absolutely NOTHING to do with the movement (it’s hard to be a leader of anything from a prison cell!!!). Not to try and rain on his 15 minutes — I thought he was hilarious on AI and was very happy to see someone I actually knew do good. But the gross exagerations and flat out lies about Larry’s background and qualifications are WAY out of hand. You can only pile the BS so deep before you start drowning yourself in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And drop the “General” title or every veteran out there should come up and beat the hell out of him because it is a slap in the face to every veteran for a convicted felon to go around claiming a title like that.

Do what? Sorry moron, my ancestors were still across the pond when you idiots decided to try and kill each other off. I had to google to find out who Nathan Bedford Forrest was. Doesn’t sound like a very nice guy, IMO, but why would you use the name of one of the biggest losers in the history of Georgia? Hosea was a typical ghetto piece of garbage who rode on the coattails of a GREAT man (Rev. King) without actually doing anything to forward the cause himself, other than staying drunk and blaming everyone else for his issues, but I digress. I do have to give him credit though for doing absolutely wonderful work for the poor and homeless. Can’t dispute his contributions there. But civil rights leader? Hardly!!

And Mr. Platt was NEVER in the military. I know. I’m the one who had to do the background check on him when we hired him (which was around 9 or 10 years ago – he didn’t work for us too long, but did an excellent job while he was here). No military service at all, but a distinguished criminal record with the Georgia Department of Corrections, lol.

Nothing against Larry, but as a Veteran I take GREAT offense to him using that title, as do most others who have ever served their country with honor. That title must be EARNED, not given to a convict!!!!
