Wedding in the forecast! Weather Channel airs surprise proposal

A sudden low-level system interrupted Weather Channel meteorologist Kim Perez mid-broadcast Sunday night.

By that we mean Sgt. Marty Cunningham of the Kennesaw Police Department, who surprised Perez on set and sank to one knee.

Perez was telling viewers about the chance of rain in the Southeast in coming days when Cunningham appeared. Perez seemed a bit startled, but pro that she is, handled the unannounced visit with aplomb.

“We’ve been talking about this for a long time, and I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” Cunningham said.

The crew was apparently in on it. The screen behind Perez morphed from a weather map to a heart-encircled banner saying “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” as Cunningham slipped a ring on his intended’s finger.

“I don’t believe it!” she said as her colleagues applauded off-screen. “You got me!”

If you missed it the proposal’s on YouTube.
