Music industry exec Devyne Stephens gave Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta an early Christmas gift Tuesday night.
At his “Puttin’ on the Ritz” party held at the Atlanta History Center, he announced the donation of $300,000 to Children’s at Hughes Spalding. The donation, coinciding with the official unveiling of his foundation, Devyne Intervention, underscores his belief that “music has the universal power to heal.”
The guest list at Tuesday’s private, invitation-only affair, was a mix of entertainers, politicians and business leaders. Among the names:
Children’s president and CEO Donna Hyland; Children’s board of trustees chair Doug Hertz, artists Akon, Usher, Andre 3000, Cee-Lo and industry titans Jermaine Dupri and Dallas Austin, a couple of the Atlanta “Housewives,” assorted sports figures, outgoing City Council president Lisa Borders - and Atlanta’s next mayor, Kasim Reed.
