The new Funny Farm Comedy Club ’soft opening’ this weekend

The Funny Farm Comedy Club, shut down earlier this year at the now defunct Startime Entertainment in Roswell, has a “soft opening” this weekend at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, a half mile from the original site. The address: 11000 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell.

The ticket prices this weekend are $10 for Marshall Chiles & Friends. Chiles operates both the Funny Farm and the Laughing Skull Lounge in Midtown. You can get free passes if you sign up on the Web site www.funnyfarmcomedyclub.com.

The first major headlining act will be “Last Comic Standing” winner Alonzo Bodden (left) on New Year’s Eve weekend, followed next month by Tom Green, Carl LaBove and Richard Lewis.

At 200 seats, the venue is smaller than the old venue, which seated 270. Chiles said he could fit up to 250 but chose to space out the tables so it’s not as cramped as, say, the Punchline. There is another room that fits up to 350 if the club needs it for bigger acts.
