Tyler Perry hits road with new ‘Madea’ stage play

Enough with the enormously successful movies. Tyler Perry misses the stage.

“There is nothing like a live performance,” he told fans in a recent blog posting. “It’s been five years since I’ve been on the road and the timing just happened to fall right into place. I needed to get away from Hollywood for a second (and) clear my head.”

The head-clearing starts in January, as a live touring production of the new play “Madea’s Big Happy Family” launches in Denver. The show makes it back to Georgia for a Feb. 14 performance at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, plays the Savannah Civic Center April 13-14 and will be at the Fox Theatre April 15-18. (Tickets are $41.55 to $126.95; see www.foxtheatre.org).

“Get your tickets early,” Tyler told fans. “I want you to have the opportunity to get good seats first before the rest of the country hears about the advertising, okay?”

Uh, okay.

We live in a Diverse world people!!!!…Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to what they like and dislike. Personally, not only do I like his work, but I also admire the struggles he had to overcome to get there and the fact that he is now blessing others in their struggle. So whatever your opinion is about his work, dont let that take away from the larger picture..

Love Tyler Perry and respect his work. I think people who make accusations of stereotyping are just repeating what they hear in the media. Regrettably, when these people make comparisons to Amos & Andy, do they honestly understand the history of Amos & Andy? Who the actors were who played Amos & Andy? The history of the minstrel show and why it existed in both black & white? Do the same people who say that Tyler Perry is a disgrace to the black race, feel the same about about a generation of televised programming on BET, MTV and now VH1’s “Reality TV” shows with its depiction of African American images? I wonder why do these same highly educated people do not attack those who truly make a mockery of their race and find it easier to be a crab in the barrel and attack ONE Tyler Perry AND NOT the entertainment, news & marketing industries that portray Black people in a negative light 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

And That’s what I’m jawbonin’ about!

Tyler, I love your work and most of all your work ethic. For those who are ashamed of Tyler it is only because he is puttng your family business in the street. Yeah,he talking about your crackhead sister, do anything for a dollar cousin, and your lying stealing brother. Don’t get mad, get a ticket and take your folks to the show so they can see how they really look. Love ya Tyler and keep up the great work.

tyler keep doing what you do best. you are a good, faithful man who wants to keep god in his movies and plays. forget about these crazy people that make all of these negative comments. people are so jealous. you are talented beyond belief, and they can’t stand it. keep up the good work. you make me laugh, but you help so many people, because your movies are about us, relationships, keeping the faith. you are spreading god’s word and this is what is important. you are doing what god intended for you to do. be safe. love you tyler. you will always have my support. this is virginia from shreveport, la

The name of the show is The Clean Up Woman. I saw it with my cousin in Washington D.C. the show was hysterical. It was written and directed by JD Lawrence who plays like 10 characters LOL and it also stars the fine Christopher Williams, Jackee’ Harry, Ali Woodson and Telma Hopkins.
