Janet Jackson confirms break-up with Jermaine Dupri

Pop star Janet Jackson admits that she and Atlanta super producer Jermaine Dupri are just friends.

In a primetime interview Wednesday with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, she said, “I adore him. Love him to death.” In fact, Dupri, whom she dated for about seven years, was the one who taught her to love her … assets. She said he taught her that there’s nothing wrong with her body – curves and all (he just picked up some extra points with that move).

Speaking from her Malibu beach house looking amazingly beautiful in a winter white fitted dress, Jackson, 43, also spoke candidly about her family and brother Michael’s death in June.

“You have to accept what is, but it’s hard.” She said that the family tried interventions to stop Michael’s drug use several times but she felt like he was in denial.

She’s still soft-spoken and seemingly shy, admitting that she gets embarrassed when people stare at her. “I’m in the wrong business.”

Roberts took Ms. Jackson through family photos, childhood and adult performances with her brothers, two failed marriages (James Debarge and Elizondo) and an amazing performing career with some of the biggest names in the biz. We even saw some grainy video of Paula Abdul doing some choreography with a young Jackson.

And there was the moment (uncomfortable for many of us) when Jackson explained why she and her siblings call their father “Joseph.” Bascially, the patriarch of the family told them to. “It is what it is,” Jackson said.

There were also bouts of depression, yo-yo weight gains/losses (she has upcoming book, “True You,” about weight issues) and the infamous wardrobe malfunction with Justin Timberlake.

In the end, she says she’s in the healing process. She’s focused on helping her nieces and nephews succeed and doesn’t look back.

What did you think of the interview?

Touching interview from a soft spoken women who has had her ups and downs. Her brother would have been proud. As to the molestation payoff; there really is not alot of evidence to substantiate the claim; that is readily available to the public. It is interesting to note that the father of the accuser commited suicide recently…again, not enough information to go on. Michael’s musical legacy is undeniable; deal with it. Janet, Miss Jackson if you’re nasty, looked every bit the lady.

I am glad to see Janet doing well and willing to talk about her life, career and family.

To Ms. Simon/David C/ and spot on Karina – the man is gone – respect his family. I am trying to figure out the Simons’, davids, and karinas…If this man really did this – then the parents need to carry the blame. The continuously took their children around him. It was always families that didn’t have anything (thanks-CWilli for pointing that out) you never heard (McCauley) in fact he stated that Michael never touched him – Let’s really look at something – what parent in their right mind if a child was molested by someone – would take a PAYOFF and why haven’t we heard from these kids that should be nearing adult hood claiming that they are ruined because of this – we haven’t because…IT DIDN’T HAPPEN…
Rumor mills are the worse and it is obvious you guys are patrons!!

You really think that if Janet had a child with ANYONE that she would give the child away to be raised by there drug addicted father, coming from that family there is no way that happened. It would be much more likely that the child would be raised in the Jackson family.
