10-1 & ACC Coastal Champs!

How’s it feel Jacket fans?  We’re 10-1 and locked into the championship game in Tampa as the Coastal Division Champion!

I’m watching Miami flounder around against North Carolina and wondering what could have been, if we hadn’t played them as our third game in twelve days earlier in the season.  I’d love to get a rematch right now…I think we’d steamroll them.

Looking back at today’s game…

The Good!

10-1…’nuff said!

519 total yards of offense and 49 points despite playing the second string for pretty much the entire fourth quarter.

Dwyer goes over 100 yards again and adds a pair of TDs.

Nesbitt goes 6 / 10 for 195 yards and a pair of TDs.

Orwin Smith’s big kick off return to swing momentum.

Ben Anderson’s huge game with five solo tackles and a pair of impressive sacks.

The defense held Duke to less than 300 yards of total offense and a measly 10 points.

The Bad!

Once again, we came out flat on the road and stumbled to a 10-0 deficit before we woke up.

Lack of communication on the fake / muffed punt that resulted in field position that gave Duke a field goal early.

Tackling has to get better. Too many Duke ball carriers shrugged off GT tacklers and got extra yards.

The Ugly!

Kick Off coverage stinks…if we can’t do better we’ll end up watching Boykin (UGA) or Spiller (Clemson) run one back for six points in the next couples of games.  And those are teams we cannot afford to give easy points to.  We MUST kick and cover better.

Game Balls

Offense – Dwyer for sparking the offense

Defense – Ben Anderson for his active play in the middle and his two sacks

Go Jackets!

No Tech Man – Ben Anderson should get. Far superior what he did in the game. We’ll get lucky every now and then on a kick-off. We need our defense to step up and do better. Ben showed signs of that today. 10 wins! Wow! And we still have 3 more games!!

Congratulations to our Jackets and Goferit for an awesome ride (so far)! To score 49 unanswered against Dook on the road when we needed this game is most excellent to see. Kickoff coverage MUST be corrected, but with two weeks to rest up and work on it, something tells me CPJ will have them ready to whup the mess out of the Muttlanders. 10-1 and 2009 ACC Coastal Division champions – sounds almost unbelieveable!

Don’t ever say the UGA game doesn’t mean anything. I was there in 1966 when we won 9 straight and then lost to UGA. That can really mess up a good season when you have to live in the same town with those people.

Great season Jackets…But…there is only one game. The Dogs. Without a win over the Dogs, the season is highly diminished. Give me a win over UGA and I don’t even care about Tampa or the BCS. Lose to UGA and win the next two and the season is still has a disappointing feel. Buckle down and come out on fire in 2 weeks. We should have fresh legs and a few tricks up our sleeves from having extra time to plan. CPJ certainly knows how big the UGA game is…he said so in his press conference the day his hiring was announced. Can’t wait to see what he cooks up for Thanksgiving weekend!

The game ball goes to DRAD (and God and Greyhound) for getting rid of chan gomer gailey, the sorriest excuse for a coach in the history of the world.

None of the current success would be possible if gomer had been allowed to continue to destroy our program, like he did for 6 long sorry years.

Any Tech fan that EVER supported of defended chan gomer gailey in any way…you suck as bad as he does. And especially the complete fools and tools on the Hive that still defend gomer to this day,,,while at the same time enjoying our current success without understanding that it would not have been possible without gomer gone. This team just gets it done week in and out. Nesbitt looked really good throwing it out of a more pro-style setup. Would love to see us use that more often to throw the better defenses off (Clemson, Ga). It gives us another option and we can get the ball more to S Hill as well. Blocking the ends may be a small problem with our smaller tackles, Sellers did get manhandled for Duke’s sack….
And if we can’t get kickoffs deeper, it will continually put our defense in bad spots in the next couple of games. Otherwise, team looking real good!

m – time to give it a rest man. Enjoy the great coach we have. If the last coach bothers you so much don’t bring him up. If you really are a tech fan, which you seemingly profess to be, you’d at least appreciate the man for bringing us Calvin, Dwyer, Nesbitt, Bey-bey, Michael Johnson, Derrick Morgan, Morgan Burnett, etc. I love CPJ to death, but he is winning with Gailey’s players – for better or for worse (Bey-bey and Dwyer for better, oversized and relatively slow for a CPJ offense O-line for worse).

Why don’t you jump on the CPJ bandwagon instead of proclaiming that you are glad the CCG bandwagon burned to the ground. He’s not even employed at his next job right now.

It is a big win for Georgia Bulldogs to beat then Number 25 Coaches’ Poll Auburn.

AP Poll and USA Today Coaches’ Poll both have Georgia with several votes. In the computer rankings, Georgia is Number 24 in the Anderson-Hester Seattle Times Poll and Number 26 in the Jeff Sagarin BCS Rankings. The 4 others have us from 29 to 34.

Auburn is still getting votes in every poll, and well they should with wins over Ole Miss, West Virginia and Tennessee. Auburn only has the 1 game against Alabama left.

9 SEC teams are bowl eligible.

SEC has 9 bowls we have contracted with to send our 9 bowl eligible teams.

If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State like they always do, then both TCU and Boise State will have a BCS Bowl Game. They could play each other in that BCS Bowl Game in Glendale Arizona, the Fiesta Bowl.

SEC has 3 Top 10 teams, in every single poll, but only 2 of the 3 can go to a BCS Bowl. Both will. This leaves LSU in the Cotton Bowl who would want LSU over Georgia at this point, no matter what UGA does – if LSU loses to Ole Miss.. If it is Ole Miss who loses to LSU instead, then, the Cotton Bowl would take Ole Miss over UGA I think. And, just as clearly, it would be LSU then with the win over Ole Miss, in the CapitalOne Bowl as the 3rd SEC team in the Top 10.

Georgia is still slotted for the $3 million dollar Outback Bowl in Tampa Florida.

The Big Ten (11) and the PAC-10, like the ACC, have NO top-ranked team in these discussions.

Oregon Lost to Boise State and Stanford and beat NO top-ranked team.

Ohio State Lost to Southern California whom everyone else beat, and Ohio State Lost to Purdue a 7-Loss team ranked number 77 in the BCS rankings today. Ohio State in the last 2 weeks beat Penn State and Iowa neither of whom played let alone beat anyone.

Georgia Tech finds its opponents this year are 46-48 for all games Tech will play. UGA’s opponents are 59-41 by stark contrast. This is SoS Number 4 for UGA and Number 40, ten times worse, for Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech has not beat any Top-Ranked Team and will not even play one in the ACC Chumpionship Game.

Georgia Tech finds both teams in the SEC Championship Game way ahead of it, and the loser of that game will remain far ahead of Tech. A stumble by Tech and LSU is only 1 place back of Tech.

ACC finds Mountain West Champion ahead of the ACC Chumpion.

ACC finds WAC Champion ahead of the ACC Chumpion, too.

ACC finds Big East Champion ahead of the ACC Chumpion, as well.

ACC finds Big XII Champion ahead of the ACC Chumpion, for good measure.

ACC finds 2 SEC teams both way far ahead of the ACC Chumpion.

ACC Chumpionship Game is so beleaguered that it has been moved out of the Gator Bowl, which had horrid ratings for the game and no one there. This season is no different, with the ACC Atlantic Division offering up as its best team, Clemson. No one will watch the ACC Chumpionship Game, and no one will be there to watch it in person. The stadium will be half empty as always for the ACC Chumpionship Game.

Climpsum Farmers have played 2 ranked teams and Lost to 3 teams. Climpsum played TCU and Lost and Georgia Tech and Lost and throws in on its résumé having played Maryland who beat zero Division 1-A teams except Climpsum. For this, Climpsum Farmers get to play in the ACC Conference Chumpionship.

ACC stinks.

South Carolina can knock Climpsum Farmers out of the Rankings before the ACC Chumpionship Game. I’d bet on that one.

6 teams with 3 Losses are in the AP Poll Top 25, some as high as Number 14. Clearly, UGA can beat Georgia Tech, as always, garner our 60th win against Georgia Tech when there are only 4 teams in all of America who have Lost 60 times to one team, and make the Final AP Poll Top 25.

Kentucky beat Auburn and now faces off against first Georgia and then Tennessee.

Tennessee vols, did I get down to the Tennessee vols, now finally.

3 SEC teams are not bowl eligible, Vandie, Mississippi State (4 wins with Arkansas and Ole Miss remaining) and Tennessee vols are NOT bowl eligible with the other 9 SEC teams who ARE bowl eligible. Of course, there are only 9 SEC Bowl tie-ins, so there is no guarantee (as with South Carolina in recent past who was bowl eligible and found no bowl game wanted them) no guarantee at all that Tennessee actually would get a bowl game seed, even if it beats Kentucky or Vandie.

At this point, the Loss to Tennessee vols by Coach Richt’s Coaching Staff, is the 6th Loss by Coach Richt’s Coaching Staff to a team who ended the season NOT in the Final AP Poll Top 25. Coach Richt’s Coaching Staff has been here 9 years now this year and we have 6 Losses to a team not ranked that year in the Final AP Poll.

You just cannot lose to that kind of a team.

Georgia Losses to Oklahoma State look fine, to Florida looks fine, to LSU looks fine and in fact we had a chance against LSU and then did knock off Auburn. But, the loss to Tennessee vols soured this damned season entirely.

By stark contrast, Tennessee vols have Losses this Year to UCLA, Auburn and Ole Miss, not a 1 of which is a ranked team nor have any hope of being ranked in the Final AP Poll Top 25.

There is much to play for, after the outstanding win against Auburn to pull us within one game all-time in the series at 52-53-8.

Don’t forget that Kentucky beat Auburn too.

The $4.25 million CapitalOne Bowl in Orlando looks like Ole Miss right now.

Sugar Bowl looks like the loser of Alabama Florida for $17 million.

National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena has ONLY Texas against ONLY the winner of The SEC Championship Game.

Music City Bowl $1.5 million looks like South Carolina, clearly way behind Georgia.

Independence Bowl $1.2 million looks like Arkansas, clearly also way behind Georgia.

Liberty Bowl January 2 at $1.7 million looks like Auburn.

This leaves Kentucky in the Papajohn’s Bowl $750 thousand Birmingham.

Ole Miss could play its way out of the CapitalOne Bowl if it loses to LSU. This could send UGA to the Cotton Bowl. I went to the Cotton Bowl once against Arkansas, that could be fun. Ole Miss might then be in the Peach Bowl.

If that happens, LSU would prefer to play to in the CapitalOne Bowl at $4.25 million than in the Cotton Bowl at $3 million.

If you want to do something about this season to make a statement to not be the 1st UGA team starting 1997 to not be in the Final AP Poll Top 25, you will go out and run up the score against Kentucky and then beat the crap out of Tech, win the Outback Bowl and fade into the sunset.

To the Bulldogs Junkyard Blawg Bill King : The players knew that on 3rd and long calling again a running play that was a positive run, that we were not booing them. You are an idiot, as usual, to continue to make that statement that we were, or that now you say the players knew we were, booing them. This team for years now has been poorly coached. We will get change in the off-season, with your help or without it to get rid of this “coaching staff.” Read what you said yourself here on the coaching of this staff in this game sir. Get with the program. We booed the call. Quit with your B.S. we didn’t, or that the players thought we were booing them. We were not and every player on this team knows we want coaching changes and will absolutely demand it for that play call we booed sir.

Georgia has been now to 45 bowls and Georgia Tech to only 38.

Georgia has 25 wins and Georgia Tech only 22.

Georgia has a .605 Winning Percentage in Bowl Games and Tech only .595.

Georgia Tech has been Ranked in the Final AP Poll 6 of the last 12 years dating back to 1997. The first 5 starting 1997 and last year only. Georgia Tech also has never been Number 1 in the Final AP Poll ever, but has 6 NC in the same other polls who have also ranked UGA NC 6 times. UGA has been Number 1 in the Final AP Poll; Tech has NOT.

Georgia has been ranked in 12 of the last 12 dating back to 1997, and needs a large margin of Victory over Kentucky and then any win against Georgia Tech plus our bowl win, as usual too.

The highest ranking Georgia Tech has had in the Final AP Poll Top 10 starting 1997 is Number 9 one time and that is it.

The highest rankings for Georgia in the Final AP Poll Top 10 since 1997 are Number 2, Number 3, Number 7, Number 10, Number 10 again, and Number 7 again.

6 Top 10 Final AP Poll of the last Dozen for UGA.

1 Top 10 Final AP Poll of the last Dozen for Tech.

Try using facts to present your limp wristed arguments. The Sagarin ratings for SOS, which is a part of the BCS formulae, unlike your irrelevant little opinion, has Tech’s SOS rated higher then UGA’s. Choke in that.

You’re slotted for Nashville best case scenario and more likely bound for Shreveport.

Keep it humble.

I’ve said before, that CPJ will bust it into their skulls that they haven’t really done anything yet. After they beat the dawgs, he’ll keep trying to convince them that they STILL haven’t really done anything yet. After they beat Clemson in the rematch ( or maybe a 2% chance of facing and beating BC), CPJ will preach that they haven’t accomplished much yet. The prize is still 6 weeks down the road in Miami.

If he needs any proof, I traveled through much of New England this weekend in my GT gear, and more than one person asked me how they’re doing this year. Until they win that January BCS bowl game, they’re going to be a regional phenomenon.

Go Jackets!!

November 16th, 2009
9:36 am

We help UGA’s SOS a lot more than they help ours!!! Truthfully, the SEC has 2 teams that would be favored over GT (FL & AL), one or two about a “pick em” (LSU & Ole Miss), and I feel the rest we would either be favored by around a TD or less (UGA, UT, AU) or picked to win big. I would have happily traded UF for their schedule without much more worry than our own schedule. I think timing of games should also be included.

I also have high hopes for the ACC. I really see NC State, Miami, UNC, Duke, WF, and BC getting better next year. I see GT, VT, Clemson, & “maybe” FSU staying about the same. And I think that Maryland and UVA will have troubles. I certainly don’t see the SEC with that great a advantage if we had some “ACC-SEC” challenge if we played our 1 through 12 against their 1 through 12 next season. I’m not necessarily predicting a win, but I am saying it wouldn’t be a huge upset if we won a series like that.

That said, our teams in the ACC need to take care of business in the early part of the season. I like the fact that 3 of Tech’s 4 out of conference foes were from the SEC. And since we play “bottom tier” SEC teams, our SOS gets a slam because the SEC teams are playing low level conference teams that have more wins in their conference. Bulldawg seems to think that playing TN Tech was a better win than Vandy or MSU because they have more wins. But truthfully, you have to say that the dogs playing ASU and OKST was MUCH stronger than UF’s out of conference teams they played. UF’s only non conference game will be against one of our bottom feeders this year, FSU, without Ponder. And they don’t play Ole Miss, Auburn, or AL in the regular season.

After watching the USC-UF game this weekend, I wish we could play UF this year. I just don’t think they are much better than us, and I think we match up well against them. I think Nesbitt has played just as well as Tebow this season, and I think Tech has many more weapons on Offense than they have. Defense might hurt us, but as poor as our defense has played at times, they do seem to rise to the occasion when the game is on the line.

All of that said, the Jackets need to watch out for UGA this year. Other than the streak Tech broke last year, I remember MANY times that the underdog has won this game. It’s a big one, and I think our team needs to understand that it is our biggest game even though it has no affect on the ACC or bowl implications. And yes, like many of you, I would pick a win over UGA over a win over Clemson (or BC) in the playoffs. The beauty is that we don’t have to choose. Remember the good word!

Just as the BCS rankings, the Sagarin ratings have Tech listed 7th. Georgia meanwhile is rated 33rd behind the likes of:

SEC members Florida (1), Alabama (2), LSU (8), Arkansas (24) and Mississippi (27)

ACC members Georgia Tech (7), Virginia Tech (9), Clemson (13), Miami (16), Boston College (25), North Carolina (27), and FSU (32). That would make the Dogs 8th in the ACC if you missed it.

Pac-10 members Oregon, USC, Stanford, Oregon State, Arizona and Cal.

Georgia would be 4th, yes FOURTH, in the Mountain West behind TCU, Utah and BYU.

That’s where Georgia stands.

BuLLdawg – I see they finally let you off suicide-watch after the Florida debacle (again). By the way, I just wanted to say congrats to your bulldawgies for those two stunning wins over powerhouses Tenn Tech and unranked Auburn. Whoa! Very impressive!

I just wanted to ask you one question though. Since those powerful juggernaut dawgs were ranked preseason #1 last year, who exactly have you beaten? LSU in 2008? A five loss LSU team. They did put a whoopin on us. You dawg fans won’t let us forget that one. It was your highlight of the 2008 season. However, we did beat you last year in Athens if I recall with a brand new head coach, brand new D-coodinator, and we were running a “high school offense.” I think we rushed for half a thousand yards and hung half a hundred on the scoreboard too.

So back to my question. Other than LSU, who have you beaten in the last two years? You haven’t beaten Florida. You haven’t beaten Alabama. You did beat Tennessee though. Oh wait, they lost to Wyoming, forced their head coach to resign, and weren’t even bowl eligble. Can’t count that one. How did you do against unranked Tennessee this year? My point is you haven’t beaten ANYONE! Quit riding Florida and Alabama’s coattails and go out there and beat someone worth a crap. Then you can come on here and print your worthless statistics and beat your chest about how great UGA is and what a vaunted schedule they play.

I cannot stand M, Saint Simmons, Yellow Fuzz and all the others who come over to the Dawgs Blog and sling all there crap. May the best team win and if Georgia does not win, I will wish you guys the best the rest of the way, but if Georgia wins, sorry Tech nation, but I am going to give the above mention all the hell they gave us for a year!!! Good Luck!!!

News flash!!! Nov. 29th, 2009

This just in, EPA has announced an air quality alert for GA and surrounding states,,,further info to follow.

After careful analysis, seems that all the problems are tied to the rash of trailer front fires where UGa fans are burning all their banners, flags, car magnets, and other gear as a direct result of the beat down just administered on the flats last night in Atlanta. SPCA has been notified as there are other reports of bulldog abuse as well, more details to follow.

BuLLdawg that is correct sir and the truth hurts those nerds to the point of slinging insults. If UGA wins out including bowl victory then we should limp into the top 25.That is a poor season for the DAWGS.Lets make a good showing in Atl.Nov,28 and bring the nerds back to reality.

superDawg, write much? It’s good to see that you’ve crawled out of the hole you’ve been hiding in since this season began! You’ve been making the lamest predictions all season! For the record, I’m quite aware of the difference of predictions versus WHATEVER you’re trying to suggest. You are correct…Tech has resumed it’s place above the mutts… I’m certain that you’re aware of the NC trophies in our trophy case. Hate to break it to you, but we’re closer to adding another one than the mutts are! You dawgs are going down….try not to choke!!! GO TECH!!!

You know…after our blowout victory over UGA last year, it is a wonder anybody even had college football this season. We should have been crowned greatest football team of all time, ever…removing the need for any other teams to ever take the field again.

Since we were slighted at the very presence of college football this year, our team will play the rest of the season with a chip on their shoulder. We will beat UGA 704 to 6 and engrave the score on rings again. These will be Magic rings that allow our players to see through an animal’s eyes, like the Beastmaster. Things are going so great for us that our fans will post this score on UGA blogs so often the week after the game that UGA football blogs cease to exist entirely…our fans also stop playing Magic the Gathering and World of Warcraft because we become so much better than anyone else that our competitors spontaneously combust.

We’ll take the field in the ACC Championship game wearing the UGA team’s skin for uniforms and beat Clemson so badly that the stadium needs a new scoreboard to put up all the extra digits. Right after the ACC Championship Game, all colleges ranked in the top 75, abruptly shut down their operations; so that they do not have to face us in the National Championship Game.

Enjoy what is left of your lives bull pups.

superDawg & BuLLdawg

There are a lot more nerds at georgia than at Georgia Tech.

“If UGA wins out including bowl victory then we should limp into the top 25″. You said that not me.

I hope georgia plays their best game of the season in Atl.Nov,28. Maybe even builds up another 16 point lead at half time like last year. It’s those emotionally charged, second half combacks that makes bringing down the goal posts that much sweeter!
