GT90, ranking don't mean squat! It's how you play when the games mean something. Take the ACC tourney as an example. Look how the champion got treated.

SlimG, Tech did drop in the polls quite a bit at the end of the season because of those losses, and rightfully so.

But their body of work for the entire season was good enough: In the 4 different polls listed at the NCAA site which were updated * after * the ACC tournament, GT's average ranking still just made the top 16 (15th). There was one other poll which wasn't updated after those tournaments, and GT was ranked higher. And GT still had a very high RPI, #4. Why? Because they've done well enough since FEBRUARY to maintain a ranking high enough to earn the right to be one of the 16 host teams.

I don't even know whether FSU used a different pitcher in that last ACC tournament game since they were still in the CG, but regardless that game was played, it wasn't close, and GT earned a W. Ask the players on either side during the game if it's "meaningless".

So I agree with morgwreck243, and I think it's pretty cut-and-dried. Miami is certainly a quality opponent. But since Miami was several spots back out of the top 16 (#22 average ranking), they haven't earned the right to play at home if they advance this weekend and are matched up against a regional host like GT.

Someone at Tech obviously paid the NCAA a ton of that Tfund money to host a regional. I mean lose the first two games of the ACC tourney and get rewarded. Really?

Ramble, FSU was already in the championship game so the trouncing you mentioned, not, was meaningless.

If the Super Regional matchup is between Tech, the Regional Host, and Miami, a non-Host, then Tech would host the Super Regional because they are a Regional Host.
