Sorry, still looking for decent cuban food in Atlanta and have yet to find it and with all due respect, it was NOT at Havana. If i want decent pan con lechon or a media noche or moros or boliche or arroz con pollo or anything else I have to make it myself at home. And who ever heard of a cuban place that was NOT open for cafe con leche & cuban toast in the morning…in Miami, yes in Atlanta NO. Sigh :(

Thank God! After counting on the Havana Sandwich Shop for over 20 years I’ve been in some serious withdrawal. I even drove up to Canton Road and Woodstock looking for the interim location but got hopelessly lost. Ended up at a Taco Bell. Haven’t been the same since.

Can’t Wait !! Have been a loyal customer for many years and was devastated when your business was lost. I am familiar with the location where you plan to reopen and am already excited to taste some Real Cuban Food Again!

I think it is opening in the new Crossroads Shopping Center at Buford Hwy and Clairmont on Nov. 3. Someone painted Havana 76 on the window but I think it’s actually Havana Restaurant. They already have a web site: http://www.havanarestaurantatlanta.com/

There are in fact two Havana sandwich shops opening. One by William Benedit, a relative of the late owner of the original, and one by Debbie Benedit, the wife of the former owner. I am betting on the second one, which appears to have much of the original’s staff and most of its heart. Hopefully they will not file lawsuits and end up bankrupting each other ad leaving us with nothing, but instead fight it out for superiority, which will be a win for everybody. There’s more about this over on the CL Omnivore blog (http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/omnivore).

Looks like 2 Cuban restaurants will be opening on Buford Hwy soon! I’ve been going to Havana Sandwich Shop for years, and have received great food and service from day 1. I know of Debbie and Willie, but I must admit the man I remember the most is the older gentleman behind the counter, Mr. Benedit. He made all of his customers feel like family. I’m sure his son, Willie and his daughter-in-law Debbie will carry on that tradition. I look forward to eating at both places.

BlondeHoney! Cool down! The folks at Havana wouldn’t like you anyway. Havana is a down to earth family place. You’re not nice. (And probably a pain in the ass.) Enjoy eating at home by yourself. Your loss.

Have enjoyed the Havanna Sandwich Shop since the 80’s. Ah yes…me an a buddy would swoop in for lunch with at Cuban Steak, wash it down with a MooseHead and smoke a doobie on the way back to work on North Druid.
