If you think your day is busy, consider the Friday schedule of 5-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams of Dooly County High School, a tiny rural community located 140 miles south of Atlanta.

There is an enormous amount of pressure on new UGA defensive line coach Chris Wilson (pictured) to make a first impression on Montravius Adams (UGA SID)
Friday is the first day of the NCAA “contact period,” and Adams will have three sets of coaches visit him at school:
Back to the three meetings: Each will last between 30-45 minutes, and Adams will be accompanied by possibly his mother, sometimes Dooly County coach Jimmy Hughes and maybe an assistant coach or two.

Nick Saban was one of three SEC head coaches to visit tiny Dooly County High School in one day last January (AP)
If you think this Friday is hectic, it’s got nothing on one day at Dooly County last January. On that day, Alabama’s Nick Saban, former Auburn coach Gene Chizik and former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley all were at the high school on the same day.
“There were three planes sitting on the tarmac at the Cordele airport – Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee,” Hughes recalled on Thursday with a chuckle. “They were all sitting there next to each other at the same time. It was quiet an event for that little town. It’s 10 miles away, and it’s lot bigger than our community (of Vienna), but it was a big deal.
“People were taking pictures of the planes, and waiting to see which coach would get out of which car. Then they would take pictures of the coaches from when they were walking from the car to the airplane.”
Just another day in the world of recruiting.

It would be really good if he decides to stay in-state and play for UGA, but I think our new coach for his position would have to make a really strong first impression. Make the initial impression and then get him onto Campus in two weeks and cement the deal. He has got all the intangibles to be a great player, and UGA could surely use him.

Montravius, from all accounts I have read you seem to be a fine young man. Somebody has raised you right and I am sure you are thankful for it. I would love for you to attend UGA and play for your in state school. You will get a great education and it will open up other opportunities for you later in life. You will always be remembered in Georgia if you play for UGA. Just ask Hines Ward about being a former UGA player. UGA can and will send you to the League if that is what you want. Best wishes to you whatever your decision.

For Chris Wilson to validate himself, he must get M Adams and T Johnson….why do we have so many safeties, so many ILB (with Rueben Foster also in the mix), and so many players below 6′ tall when we need OL and DL….and a OL that is under 270 lbs from Valwood…c’mon Will Friend….look @ the size of AL’s OL and win a NC!!

Montravius,
Best of luck wherever you decide to go. With that said, Bryant Young is a 4 time Pro Bowler and made the 90’s all decade team. First year in the league he was the NFL’s Rookie of the Year. He played 14 years in the NFL and all with the 49′ers (very loyal guy). He got hurt in 98′ and the next year was name the Comeback Player of the Year. He’s a determined guy. He was also voted the best leader on his team 8 times which is the most EVER in team history. And what position did he play? Defensive tackle, same as you. Here’s a guy that is a leader, loyal and knows what it takes to be extremely successful in the NFL. He can get you to the next level better than anyone and has the resume’ to match what he says. I would love to see you in the Orange and Blue and I think when you consider all things, having Bryant as your coach just seems to make the most sense. Anyway, may God bless you and your family during this very difficult decision.

Forget Florida – MUSCHUMP will be on the HOT SEAT after this coming season. No QB & NO offense equals an embarrassing loss to WHO? LOUISVILLE ! Even the REPTILE defense was embarrassing……. complete disaster. It will come down to UGA or Clemson. Auburn is disaster and will be for at least three more years and Bummer is just not close enough to home.

33 years and 5yards short. If you want to play in a National Title Game go to Bama, LSU, The Barn or Florida. If all you want is to play ball for 3 years, dodge athens POlice and then head to the NFL go to Jawrga.

Yea Muschamp will probably be on the hot seat next year but thats Florida football and its fans
UGA football and its fanbase would have signed Mushamp to a 7 year extension for going 11-1 and a trip to the Sugar Bowl
Any wonder why FL has 3 national championships in the last 20 years and UGA has 0

SOS – single A ball has produced some of the greatest players in the state of Georgia. Charles Johnson, Hawkinsville native, played at UGA and skipped his senior to go to the NFL where he was the highest payed player for the year of 2011 – yes even higher payed than the prima donna QBs. Another example of single A talent – Herschel Walker – case closed. In the state champ game Dooly County was blown out and Adams was illegally chop blocked and injured – did not play the second half. He has a lot to prove but Saban doesn’t travel to Vienna unless he is sure the kid has talent.

Bald Coach – granted UGA showed they didn’t want to be in that game – quite different than Florida being in the Sugar Bowl – where UGA should have been. If you can’t get up for the Sugar Bowl your coaches dropped the ball. We all know Florida’s offense basically SUX but where was their defense? MUSHCHUMP has more talent than Louisville – conclusion is that he was unprepared and out coached. His team was physically beat down by Louisville and out coached by CHARLIE STRONG. Florida should have kept CHARLIE STRONG and got rid of URBAN MEYER the 1st time he QUIT.

My favorites are

Energy Vampires

Dream Team II
Finish the Drill
Kryptonite Kool-aid
Cutting Edge Football
Maybe when we stop spending so much time on coming up with catch phrases and learning how to coach and run a program we might go beyond the typical 2 or more loss seasons and losing big games

Georgia ended 4TH in the Nation and had 2 losses. You can’t count Ohio State at all , they didn’t win a Conference Championship or even play a Bowl game this year. We all know their record against the SEC in Bowl games so the only chance they had to win a bowl game was to have played in the Rose Bowl against anybody as long as it wasn’t an SEC opponent. You also can’t include Notre Dame ahead of Georgia. When one of the Computer polls have them number 1 after Alabama annihilated them any consideration of Notre Dame is from very biased sources and is the only team in America who would still be in the top 8 just because they only had one loss after their very easy schedule was exposed.
Georgia arguably ended up 3RD . I hope recruits like Adams realizes that Georgia is very close and recruits like him could put them over the edge for years . Florida has a great defense but it won’t matter until they get an offense. No Quarterback , no running back and the most important part of the Offense, no depth at running back.Any team that can score 21 points on them will win.

Blame the northern biased media on that
Ohio St plays one team every year, Michigan and thats it
ND is loved as well
why do you think Bama LSU has only one Heisman Winner Tenn Miss Miss ST and Ark has 0 but Ohio St has 7 ND has 7
but Southern Schools like UGA AUB FL AL LSU TENN VANDY KY MISS MISs ST have a combined 10 Heismans while Ohio St and ND have 14 combined
The North biased media have always thought football isnt played in the south up until the past 10 years

That is nothing. Try looking for a JOB and how much work that takes in this job market. Schools WANT him but the Job Hunter is trying to BEG to be wanted or needed. be happy you are WANTED by many. What DEGREE does he want to study? Does he EVEN KNOW what degrees the schools offering him offer? 1-to-2% of the college players will ever see NFL money and of those that do play in the NFL most only play for 3 years………………..

The best recruiting tool for UGA would be a 10,000 seat expansion of Sanford Stadium and a state of the art indoor practice facility. And re M Adams, some 4-3 packages to stop the power running teams 30+ points to Sc; Tenn; and of course Ala is not acceptable!

Look whose coming to T-TOWN this weekend for a visit
Among the most highly-touted of Alabama’s visitors this weekend are a trio of five-star prospects. Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound star from Lake City, Florida, has been the Tide’s top target on the offensive line for the Class of 2013. Tunsil will be hosted on his visit by recent enrollee Derrick Henry, who has become one of Tunsil’s best friends over the past year.

Laremy Tunsil 99.9% UGA just taking his visits!
Alvin Kamara 80% to UGA just eliminated Oregon & UTk.. upset with Bama’s talk of possible DB & slot receiver… he will be playing RB at UGA in a NFL Pro style offense with some spead mixed in. Closest to home… plus Tyler Maloof the son of Kamara’s HS football coach Keith Maloof will be an intern graduate assistant this fall at UGA. (Blue Devil Family)
Montravius Adams 85% to UGA wants to strap on the “G” with his new friend Foster
Reuben Foster 90% to UGA Loves CTG defensive scheme wants to play with Tray Matthews, Adams & Matthew Thomas. Auburn & Alabama still linger.. this one goes after NSD
Toby Johnson 95% to UGA
Matthew Thomas 50% to UGA will be a challenge to pluck him from south FL but he would love to step in the position just vacated by Jarvis Jones. will OV 2/01/2013 bringing his HS teammate OT Denver Kirkland along with him.
Davin Bellamy 65% to UGA interest on both sides… Coach O & B Mac visited with him today!
Tyrone Crowder 60% to UGA waiting for an opening… would like to play alongside Tunsil.
Mackensie Alexander 50% to UGA waiting for an opening… could jump to 90% if Shaq Wiggins flips

Thanks for the update. I think signing day this year is February 6TH so do you think all of these recruits will wait until the last day. These young kids are pressured to finally make a decision and with their back up against the wall are vulnerable to lies and half truths that can not be checked out because the recruit doesn’t have time.
The biggest example from last year is Avery Young who was 100% Georgia until the last day and Auburn said something to get him to completely reverse course . Young did not have time to check out what ever salesman pitch was given and made the worst decision possible. Now he is stuck with a different coach and at least 3 years of rebuilding when he could have been with Georgia who was 5 yards away from the top. If he was that sincere about going to Georgia in the first place , there is no way he hasn’t regretted his flip at the last minute.
