Robert Nkemdiche will only visit Ole Miss and LSU

What a week for Robert Nkemdiche.

He pretty much won over everybody with his freak athleticism and warm personality at the Under Armour All-America game, including his teammates, his coaches and the recruiting media. And he was treated like a rock star when he attended the Ole Miss bowl game on Saturday to watch his brother play.

What’s next for the nation’s undisputed No. 1 prospect? The final stretch of recruiting. This week, he will decide on dates for official visits to his two finalists, Ole Miss and LSU.

That’s not really anything new. What is new is that Nkemdiche said he’s eliminated the possibility of visiting other schools, including Clemson (where he was formerly committed to), Florida, USC, Oregon, etc.

At least that’s the plan at the moment.

“Yes sir, that’s it; it’s just Ole Miss and LSU,” Nkemdiche said. “I don’t want to get it all mixed up with other schools in there. I will figure out when I will visit them when I get home.”

At Friday’s Under Armour All-America game, Nkemediche finished with one tackle, one QB hurry and a lot of praise from the celebrity coaches: Former NFL coach Herman Edwards compared the Grayson High School defensive lineman to Julius Peppers, while former NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington said he had flashbacks to Shawne Merriman.

After the game, Nkemdiche was asked if he was aware of reports that an Ole Miss booster had offered his father a job, and he responded, “I don’t know about that.”

Nkemdiche’s father, Dr. Sunday Nkemdiche, was considered the top candidate for a research position at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMC) but later withdrew his name to stay near his son in the Atlanta area, according to a report by that you can read HERE.

The reason it became public knowledge is because the Mississippi state legislature got involved. An anonymous e-mail alleging that Ole Miss committed potential recruiting violations was sent in and reviewed by the Mississippi’s Legislature’s Joint Committee of Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review (PEER).

PEER director Max Arinder decided not to investigate the matter any further, and suggested that the complainant to discuss it with the NCAA, according to the Clarion-Ledger (You can read the article HERE).

“The committee felt that what we were looking at was purely and simply an allegation that there could have been some misdealing — improper recruiting action,” Arinder told the website. “The committee took the position that if the complainant has any documented evidence, it needs to go before the proper body, and that would be the NCAA.”

This type of situation is nothing new. Last year, Florida State signed the nation’s No. 1 recruit, defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. of Denton, Texas. Six months later, the star prospect’s father was quietly hired as FSU’s Director of Player Development.

LSU fans I would not get my hopes up for his commitment!!
Everybody knows he is going to the Rebels to play with
his brother!! Any way last year at this time Alabama fans
thought Robert and Reuben Foster were going to play
for the crimson tide but funny things happened along
the way!! RTR

@Stinger 2…I agree with you, I will be glad when signing day is over. I am tired of hearing about this kid. Sure hope he isn’t a bust at the next level when he is not the biggest kid on field anymore.

With Ole Miss, you get to play with your brother in a dreary Birmingham bottom-tier bowl, if a bowl at all. LSU has played in Atlanta 11 times since 2000, played in numerous BCS bowls, in 3 National Championship games – winning two – and has 8 players announcing their intent to go pro. If he’s a star player, does he want to play on a big stage, or a small one?

Its not about the stage for Robert!! And does it really matter what stage he plays on anyway?? The kid is well beyond his years !! He will play from the get go wherever he lands and if he lands with his brother at Ole Miss, good for him!! Next stop——-> NFL !

Funny how he got all spun up when he was double teamed this weekend. At Ole Miss he can expect that the entire time he is there. Oh we’ll… Good luck to the young man. ROLL TIDE!!!!

He is going to Ole Miss. Why does he have to publicly announce it to everybody? He goes to every single Ole Miss event, he’s made abour 67 unofficial visits to Oxford, recruits players to come to Ole Miss at the Under Armour game (sources from other Under Armour players) and he is tight with students and players from the school. All it does on Feb. 6th is solidify this but he is already a Rebel. Get over it people.

rebbs30, you need to stop smoking that stuff. He is going to LSU because he wants to play immediately and based on the game with Clemson, it is probably a good choice for him. Ole Miss is Ole Miss, they always Miss and haven’t really been relevant since John Vaught. IMHO they will miss on this recruit also.
