UGA confirms that 13 football recruits have enrolled early

UGA officials confirmed on Friday that 13 of its recruits have enrolled early in college.

Mark Richt at presser 12143The Bulldogs, which have 30 commitments for 2013, originally had 17 recruits that intended to start class on Monday for the spring semester. However, only 13 were cleared through admissions. The others will have to wait until May.

UGA needed to hit the magic number of 10 early enrollees circumvent the SEC’s new over-signing rules on a 25-man annual limit on class size. Under the rules, 10 of this year’s recruits will be “back-counted” toward the 2012 scholarship numbers, permitting the Bulldogs to sign 25 in February.

With 13 total enrolling early, 10 of those will count toward last year, and the other three will go toward this year’s numbers.

The last admittance of the group was John Atkins, a defensive tackle from Virginia’s Hargrave prep school.

On Thursday, Atkins told the AJC that he was approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse after his coach discovered that one of his grades had been incorrectly reported.

Here’s a breakdown of UGA’s class:

Congrats to these players. Soon they will get to experience glory. I hope they realise the honor and privilege it is for them to put on that G helmet.
I approve of Richt’s recruiting class and I can’t wait to see the results on the field.

Brice Ramsey intercepted. I hope CMR has hm on speed dial and lets him know right now that throwing picks is unacceptible when he gets to Athens.

This is cheating. Early enrollees is the same thing as grayshirting. Mark Richt is a cheater. He can’t coach. What ^&*%^& doesn’t spike the ball. Loser

Moist Dawg….youre all wet. Ramsey has not even had a coach yet to teach him to play QB. His HS coach is clueless. All the colleges wanted him and UGA is blessed to have him. He has an ARM! BTW….by the time he is the starter, he will have been well coached for 1 or 2 years by TWO QB’s at least and got plenty of reps against the defense. Bobo and Richt. If Murray leaves and mason gets injured expect INT’s or heavy running game. Freshmen throw picks. Fact of life. ESPECIALLY one who played at program who nearly ran the ball on every play every year….too bad he didnt go to a school that passed….lots to learn for Ramsey thats for sure. Be patient. He can make all the throws and is smart. he just needs some teaching and practice and needs more than most…but he is going to be GREAT. He is going to win the National Championship and start in th NFL….write that in stone and take that to the bank….!

Brice has good arm and shows good poise. He’ll need to be coached up though. Not sure Bobo is equipped here. Biggest coaching up job at UGA ever was David Green, who had marginal SEC talent coming in. SInce then we have had higher rated guys coming in, who never seemed to reach their peak at UGA. Camden is a great program. Watch JJ contribute this year.

PR, couldn’t have said it better! I think we get at least three of those. Why would Kamara got to Bama? Why wouldn’t Tunsil come to UGA? Adams and Foster, have you seen who we are losing?

The players I am most excited about are the JUCO transfers, as hopefully these guys will be ready to step right in and contribute. This class looks loaded! If we could hit even just a few of those big names still left out there, it could be really strong.

Jonathan Rumph 6′5″ 215lb WR Holmes JC…. Dunno who this guy is, but he sounds like a FREAK! Could be a great replacement for Marlon Brown- tall, physical receiver. With or without Murray, our O should be loaded. Can’t wait to see Justin Scott-Wesley and Conley continue to develop next season.

Can’t wait till Spring Practice and G-Day game!

Go Dawgs!

MC
will Floyd mssing the EE as a 2012 commit, are we limited to 9 EE backcounted to 12, with our full 25 for 13? That would be 34 total recruits??? Hearing different info, can you clarify???

Michael Carvell

Floyd doesn’t matter. UGA just needed 10 to “back-count,” any 10. They got 13. 10 will count toward 2012, and the other 3 (along with 22) will count forward towards the 25 for this year. So that’s 35 max that UGA can finish with for this class.

UGA has 30 now, and would like to finish with 30-34.

Ramsey has a great arm, good feet, can extend the play and his mechanics are solid. A lil fine tuning and the kid will be a GREAT QB. He had several perfectly thrown balls that were dropped in UA game.

Let’s not let up Kamara that kid looks good! Close the deal on Tunsil, Adams and Foster too!

Our OL recruiting is not good. We have several OL on the team that will never contribute. If we miss on Tunsil, this recruiting class is a huge missed opportunity with all of the OL in Georgia. We might end up with one OL who will help. Bynum and Cordiello are projects at best. No OT in a league that demands athletic OTs.

Notice what continues to be absent in the last few recruiting classes. Hint- 5 foot 9 175 lb athletes that are fast, but to small for the SEC. Not surewhat the big deal is with Wiggins. Looks like another branden smith to me. These guys have slowly but surely been weeded out of playing time and recruiting.
