AJC Super 11 WR will pick a college for a FOURTH time

This year’s award for “Best Recruiting Soap Opera” could go to AJC Super 11 wide receiver Demarcus Robinson of Peach County High School.

After arriving at the Army All-America Bowl, Robinson told Rivals that he is no longer committed to Clemson.

It’s the second time that Robinson has de-committed from the Tigers. In between, he’s also switched to Florida, and later backed off that pledge.

Now that Robinson has committed and de-committed three times, which college will be his fourth pick?

It’s between Florida and Clemson.

“It’s 50-50, I don’t really know,” said Robinson, who reported to the all-star game wearing a Florida Gators hat.

Robinson said he will announce his fourth and final decision during Saturday’s game on national TV.

He has to make a quick turnaround because he will begin college classes as an early enrollee on Jan. 7.

Ah yes, TV time. He must have forgotten about that. Could there be a fifth on signing day?

Demarcus Walker also headed to Gainesville for a final unoffical with the Gators after the UA game. Gators might add a double Demarcus before it is over.

These 17-year old punks are a bunch of clowns. Their parents are all disgraces for enabling this commit-decommit-commit-decommit two-step. They should all be ashamed of this non-stop disgraceful attention-seeking behavior.

It is amazing that head football coaches of major college programs, who are some of the most powerful people in their respective states, get walked all over by 17 year old kids. If I were Dabo or Muschamp I would tear up the offer sheet and tell this kid to go pound sand

@Score Check….

With Robinson ball catching skills…..yes he is.

@Stank Wren….

How exactly is Robinson a “punk” for being torn between two schools he likes so much? He is obviously being pulled in two different directions, at it is the most important decision he will ever make. His only mistake is “committing” to a school too early in his decision making process. It is also obvious that Swinney and Muschamp want the kid a lot and are very active recruiting him, which makes it even harder for him to make a decision. Now. the kid at Auburn getting a “Auburn ink” on his arm….and then decommitting……is a bit over the top, in my opinion.

Let me clarify……”most importat decision” Robinson will ever make concerning his education and college career.

Wren…..

That still does not make him a “punk”…….and some kids mature faster than others. And a lack a maturity in the decision making process does not “make you a punk” either.

I suggest you rethink that comment……consider a LB commit to Bama, a LB commit to Auburn with “ink on the arm” to verify…..and then a decommit and………you might of heard of him….Ruben Foster. This kid is not even in the same ballpark as Foster. I think your prediction is incorrect at all…..more likely Clemson or Florida….and then the NFL.

not sure who you pull for……but if it was down to your school and another school….you would be pulling for him to choose your school. He is an outstanding WR prospect and will have no issues getting into the school he does choose in the end.

It’s a wonder a kid can enroll early considering he spends more time in the barber shop in Ft. Valley than he does in the classroom. Only player Chad Campbell has ever had to suspend for discipline reasons in his time at Peach County as well. Sat the first playoff game in 2011 for walking out on practice mid-week.

All that said, he’s a fantastic talent and that always trumps everything. Isn’t America great?!

Gator – Never said this kid was a “punk”; your words not mine

I understand a recruit backing off a commitment. But not 4 times. With that kind of maturity it makes me wonder how he will be able to handle the freedom and required decison making of a college campus as an early enrollee. According to the article, He will be in a college classroom in 2 weeks. Scary ain’t it?

TampaGator,

Don’t get your feelings hurt. Just doing a little of the reporting that MC can’t (doesn’t know how) to do. Not sure he could find the Valley on a map considering he stated on air at last year’s Georgia Junior Bowl that he didn’t know where Dooly County was (right on I-75, thanks) when talking about Montravius Adams.
And you can take the info on Robinson to the bank. Grades are handed out like candy in some places, depending on who you are. If he’s a Gator, just get ready to assign a Grad Assistant to hold his hand for 3 years (because we know there won’t be any academic cooking of the books in Gainesville). ;-)

There is no question that this kid will be a total bust, just like Reuben Foster. There is a certain level of commitment and integrity needed to succeed at the next level, and when you act like this, it’s clear that you do not have enough of those things to grind when things get tough.

DT Adams comments at the UA practice today……..

“I want to get my mom around the Florida coaches and see how she likes them,” Adams said. “The chance to play under Bryant Young helps Florida stand out because he has done a lot of things I want to do.”

Doesn’t sound good for Clemson and Georgia…..the mom will love coach Young and the Florida staff.

Lots of faults when trying to recruit an immature kid that is usually a good athlete. Two examples are LB Rueben Foster and Robert Nkemdiche. If coaches like Dabo Sweeney (Clemson), Reicht (Georgia), and Malzahn (Auburn) told these young boys (certainly not men) we will provide you with no more than any other incoming recruit. These coachs’ are wearing collars with a short leash held by the two children listed above. If these coach’s truely wish to help these kids to mature obeying recruits and their personal wants just will not do it. Cut them down to the side of good well-meaning young adults, don’t let them take control because that is a big responsibility of a coach. Examples: Coach Sweeney was in the process of using all of Clemsons scholarships to the friends of Nkemdichi to get his committment. Coach Malzahn in hopes of not losing another prized recruit offers a package deal to a recruit friend of Lawson. Then coach Reicht heard Rueben Foster saying he must have the best for his little girl, like nursery and TLC. They say a nursery is available and Rueben says that the coach’s must show personal interest and show his child love………..stay tuned. If you had only these occurancies without any names who is the worst of the participants? For me it would be an easy quiz. I would definitely say these coach’s are the #1 problem.

First let me say this kid is the real deal. I’ve been watching this kid since his sophomore year then i seen him in person against my carrollton trojans this kid is nothing short of amazing. Now i agree with a lot of you about the committing and decommitting all the time he should just wait till signing day to commit somewhere. But that said I’m like the blogger earlier said this is the most important decision of his life not ours so let’s let this kid make his own decision.

Michael Carvell

I don’t have any problems with how many times a kid wants to commit or de-commit. Colleges coaches come and go; this is just a business for them. For the kids, this is a once-in-lifetime decision. Besides, if a college got fed up with this type of behavior, they would pull the offer. That’s not happening with Clemson or Florida. Congrats to the kid for handling his situation … his way … and not caring what anybody else thinks. It’s his life.

The comments I see posted here are typical…some for…some against…and the usual ingorance bestowed on the AJC comment section. Bud has not been the “model” player during his time in practice at PCHS, in my opinion maybe he should have waited before committing to Clemson to see if this was truly where he “wanted” to play ball because alot of it has been pressure from other directions on where he should attend school.

@Jack…where did you get this information about him enrolling at UF on Monday????…this is news to our family, and yes I am close FAMILY…last I checked, Demarcus will be at PCHS when the second half of the school year starts.

Howard's Rock

Demarcus,

You options that you have narrowed down to are this:
1) Play in a run happy, ball controlled offense under a defensive coach and master the skill of blocking
or
2) Play WR in a pass happy exciting offense that will utilize your skills. Ask Nuk Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. Have Tajh Boyd as your QB next year and catch over 1000 yards.

It is your choice to make.

@Howards Rock The only reason the Gators ran that offense this year is because they had no receivers or a vertical threat. Pease will throw the ball all over the field when he gets the players he wants there. They will still run the ball a lot but it will be a balanced offense.

@Herschel Talker I am sure the parents want their kids to make the best decisions for themselves, not for some twisted reasons that fans like you want. He is the typical 17 year old who cant make up his mind, nothing more. All that matters is the HE makes the BEST decision for HIMSELF, NOT YOU.

Most of these 5-star, blue-chip, Super 11, ESPN 150, Under/Armour All-Star, “all-Americans” don’t pan out anyway. Most are redshirted and forgotten by the time the next cycle comes about. College Football has its system downpat. Rabid fans ready to kill each other over a subjective “championship”, a TV station that decides who pays (oops “plays”) for the championship, high school kids believing that they are celebrities because they play a game, and schools making stupid amounts of $$ all while still raising tuition to build workout facilities. I love my UGA dawgs but when you unplug from this frequency that they have us on, it all looks pretty dumb at the end of the day
