Georgia State’s new football coach has landed his first recruit for the Panthers.
Brandon Pertile, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive lineman from Clearwater, Fla., has committed to Georgia State. He picked the Panthers over Presbyterian, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb, and Florida A&M.
“Coach (Trent) Miles is the new coach; he came to my school today to talk with me,” Pertile said. “He told me about transforming the football program, and it got me really fired up. It seems like a good place to spend the next 4-5 years.”
Pertile is projected to play right tackle at Georgia State, which has 10 commitments for 2013.

Panther nation??? Really? I’ve seen neighborhoods throughout Atlanta that have more people in it than the Dome does on GSU game day.

I’m a UGA fan but there is absolutely no reason why GA State can’t have a good football program. There are plenty of good football players in the state. I’m pulling for them to put it all together.

Congrats to the young man. GSU is a fine school. And a growing school. A little winning will help bring the fans out – especially the student body. Tough to fill 70,000 seats…

Congrats Panthers. Like what has been mentioned before, with the talent available in the state of GA and pretty much no academic restrictions, I don’t see why State can’t be a competitive team in the Sun Belt in 3-4 years.

We – all us GaState fans – welcome you to Panther Nation. All six of us are stoked. You should get your parents to buy season tickets. Then we’d have eight.

The haters are up early today. Do they even follow their own teams? LOL.
Great pick-up by the team. Hopefully the first of many for the new staff.

For now, they would be better off playing at Dekalb Memorial stadium. At least they could fill up one half. Of course, winning takes care of all attendance problems.
