Foster floated that idea on Tuesday to ESPN’s Kipp Adams:

“I would say Georgia’s chances of getting me are somewhat dependent on Trooper Taylor being there too,” Foster said. “He told me that he did not want to cause me to change where I want to be because of him, but I told him not to worry about that.”

Trooper Taylor is the assistant who lured Foster to Auburn this past year. His future with Auburn is unknown after Tuesday’s hiring of Gus Malzahn as head coach.

Trooper has become a father figure and mentor to Foster, who transferred from Troup High School to Alabama’s Auburn High School for his senior year. Trooper basically has unlimited access to Foster – perfectly legal under NCAA rules – because his son plays on the same high school football team with Reuben, and they’re close friends.

Foster remains committed to Auburn, although it may hinge of Trooper’s future employment with the Tigers.

Foster originally committed to Alabama two summers ago. He switched to Auburn last summer, and got a gigantic Auburn tattoo on his forearm one day after making the announcement.

There were rumors that Foster was considering flipping to UGA after he skipped to Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn last month to watch the Bulldogs play Georgia Tech. Foster went to the game with one of his best friends, Newnan High School safety Tray Matthews, who is committed to UGA.

What about that Auburn tatt? Foster said UGA’s coaches told him not to worry about it, that he could cover it up by wearing sleeves if he played for the Bulldogs.

Should UGA hire Trooper to get Reuben?

UGA doesn’t currently have any openings on its football staff, although the Bulldogs could create a position in administration.

Foster was once ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect by ESPN, Scout, and Rivals. He has fallen in both ESPN and Rivals, but remains second with Scout.

What do you think? Should UGA hire Trooper Taylor to land 5-star linebacker Reuben Foster?

Come on Mike, really? Why on Earth would Coach Richt, knowing what you know about him as a person, go out and hire someone who is widely known to be one of the most unethical recruiters in the SEC? Trooper Taylor may be a nice guy on a personal level, but pretty much every HS Coach I know that has dealt with him says he has dirt on his hands. You can damn well bet that when these NCAA Sanctions come down on the plains, and they will because there are so many skeletons in that closet you could start a Halloween Store, TT will be smack dab in the middle of it. No self especting UGA fan who takes any pride in our Program or University would want that man in Athens. The fact that Rueben sees him as a father figure is disturbing and makes me wonder whether he is someone UGA would want as well.

You did have the third choice which is HELL NO. I agree with all of the above. Trooper does his own thing and there is no way McGarity would put up with that. Foster is showing he is more of an follower than leader . Not very intelligent on Fosters part when Trooper has him believing that he is a good guy and only has Fosters best interest at heart. Foster also is making it clear that he is not a very good judge of Character . TROOPER IS BAD NEW.

Love you Coach Richt! I know you ARE going to win it all soon, Just like all great coaches you will get yours. It even took Saban 11 years and he didnt have to face a coach nearly as good as himself. Hard to beat Saban, especially when hes at a Bama. Its a stacked deck and UGA just have them ALL they could handle. What a game….what HEART. Too bad the defensive depth was lacking and it sure showed in the 2nd half with Bama running hurry up and dozens of plays. STILL only 1 play away. WHAT HEART. WHAT EFFORT. RICHT IS GONNA GET IT DONE. WE JUST NEED SOME DEPTH FROM GRANTHAMS RECRUITS FOR HIS SYSTEM. THATS ABOUT TO START HAPPENING IN HIS 4TH YEAR…..ITS A GREAT TIME TO BE A BULLDOG FAN…..THE FUTURE IS SET UPON A VERY STONG FOUNDATION…..IF MURRAY COMES BACK…..ITS GONNA BE INTERESTING!

TROOPER TAYLOR MIGHT BE OUT OF A JOB SOON DUE TO THE COACHING CHANGE OR NCAA VIOLATIONS SO I SUGGEST FOSTER GO COZY UP WITH A ROLE MODEL AND A MAN WHO WILL GENUINELY CARE FOR HIS WELL-BEING IN COLLEGE. MARK RICHT AND THE REST OF THE UGA COACHING STAFF….FAMILY DEEPER THAN ANY IN THE NATION BECAUS3 IT GOES FAR BEYOND THE FOOTBALL FIELD…..

GET YOUR PRIORITIES AND HEAD STRAIGHT REUBEN. UGA. COACHING STABILITY AND LOVE AND YOUR BEST INTEREST OFF AND ON THE FIELD…..

No way should UGA ever hire Trooper Taylor……that is NCAA trouble waiting to happen (and sooner rather than later). With the hiring of Malzahn, AU is still “all in”…..Trooper will stay, Foster will sign there, and probation will happen (again).

Who’s next: Snoop Dog, Don Cornelius, Jesse Jackson Jr., MC Hammer? The hat-on-backwards, waving-a-towel-for-a-dirty-hit kitchen appliance is an energy sucking scum bag with more skeletons in his closet than a water-filled Mayan sink hole.
Just the fact (if true) that Foster made this suggestion would eliminate him from my recruiting class in a heart beat. In all likelihood, Foster will be either 1) arrested (drugs, alcohol, domestic abuse, guns, robbery) or 2) flunk out or 3) both within 18 months, anyway.

This young man is extremely immature. Trooper has no moral standards. We do not need either these two. Our staff needs to concentrate on the other recruiting targets and forget about this one.
We need players who want to be at UGA to start. Take the tattoo and stay at Auburn.

Ruben Foster is fast becoming “not worth the trouble.” He should honor his commitment to Auburn. I am sure an alumnus at his new school paying for a tattoo removal is an NCAA violation. I can’t imagine “covering it up” would be good enough for his teammates. And isn’t Trooper the one Chizik took off the recruiting trail because the NCAA is looking?

I feel sorry for Reuben because if he makes his decision based on where Trooper Taylor is he is going to get burned. More than likely Auburn will not retain him because at some time during this investigation Taylor name is going to come up… maybe more than that. If Auburn retains him the school can not wash their hands of him. The sanctions will be much worse in that case. Anybody who hires him is going to have that hanging over their head as well.
Reuben Foster needs to make his decision based on where he wants to play and not upon where Trooper Taylor is or is not. I’d love for him to sign with the Dawgs but not at the cost of hiring Trooper Taylor.

This nonsense has got to stop. When will NCAA wake up and see what’s happening. The big losers in the end are the recruits who actually think they’re worth all the hype. Besides, Auburn may be a mess but they’re not stupid enough to cut ties with this guy even if he can’t coach a lick. Starts sounding like a “street agent” after awhile.
