UGA’s biggest fears may be coming true with Tramel Terry, the celebrated WR who has already de-committed and pledged to the Bulldogs twice.
Terry will decide whether he’s going to sign scholarship papers with either UGA or Clemson at 10 a.m. Friday at Goose Creek (S.C.) High School, his coach told Palmetto Sports’ Phil Kornblut.
Goose Creek coach Chuck Reedy “said Terry appears to be split between the two schools at this point,” according to the website. Reedy is a former Clemson assistant.
It’s just the latest in a series of twists and turns with Terry’s wild recruiting ride.
There will likely be a ton of more drama next week.
UGA coach Mark Richt will make an in-home visit with Terry on Wednesday night, according to Palmetto Sports.
And guess who gets the last face-to-face meeting? Clemson coach Dabo Swinney will sit down with Terry on Thursday night.
After Terry committed to UGA for a second time last March, it appeared that the drama was over. However, last month, Terry decided to go ahead and take an official visit to Clemson. He played it down before the trip, making it out as if he was mostly doing it just because he will only go through the recruiting process once in his life.
However, Terry apparently ended up liking Clemson much more than he thought he would. So much so that Terry has declined requests for media interviews since his Clemson trip.
Most of Terry’s recent recruiting updates have been provided by himself on Twitter. He said that UGA assistant John Lilly visited his school on Friday, the day before the SEC Championship game.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Terry is an early high school graduate and will enroll at a four-year college in January.
ANOTHER UGA COMMIT? One of UGA’s top remaining targets, former Sandy Creek High School WR Ja’Quay Williams, is taking an official visit to South Carolina this weekend and told the AJC he will make his college decision on Sunday. UGA is rumored to be the frontrunner for Williams, who is attending prep school and plans to enroll at a four-year college in January. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder originally signed with Auburn over UGA last year but fell short of NCAA entrance requirements. Williams, who de-committed from Auburn last Sunday, has also taken official visits to UGA and Texas A&M over the last few weeks. He was the state’s No. 1 prospect at WR last year and is considered better than senior coming out this year.
NKEMDICHE LIKES UGA: Ole Miss linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche told reporters after the Mississippi State game that his baby brother would commit “in two weeks” – and did not specifically name Ole Miss (but that’s what many are assuming he meant). When asked about the statement this week, Robert Nkemdiche told CBS Sports, “Nothing is going on with that. He was just happy … just no comment on that.” Robert also said he is considering Ole Miss, LSU and Clemson and “I like Georgia – they’re still in it.”
UPDATE: On Sunday night, Tramel Terry confirmed that he is sticking with UGA.
