DE commits to Georgia State without ever seeing college

DE Will Cunningham

DE Will Cunningham

Georgia State has picked up commitment No. 10, Will Cunningham, despite the fact that he’s never seen the school.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound defensive end from Cape Coral, Fla., picked Georgia State over football scholarship offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Fordham, and Holy Cross.

“I just thought Georgia State was a good school for me,” Cunningham told the AJC. “I talked with my parents about everything, including the education. I thought it would be a good school for me to attend.”

Cunningham, who has a 3.8 GPA and wants to study something in the medical field, projects to play defensive end or defensive tackle at Georgia State.

He will make his official visit to Georgia State on Dec. 8 – and it will be his first trip to the college.

When asked about committing without ever seeing Georgia State, Cunningham replied, “I just thought it was the right choice for me to make after discussing it with my parents. I’m going there in December. I just wanted to make an early decision because it was the right choice for me and my future.”

Perhaps most importantly, Cunningham also didn’t want his scholarship spot going to somebody else before he could visit.

He is commitment No. 10 for Georgia State’s 2013 recruiting class, according to PantherTalk.com

Best of luck at GSU. That program has risen to Division 1 football extremely fast. They have everything they need to become relevant failry quickly. Playing in the Dome is a big plus…….being located in the heart of the recruiting hot bed of the south is not bad either.

Seems like a solid pick up even though he hasn’t seen the campus and we don’t have a coach…hope he likes what he sees! Nothing better than going to school in downtown atlanta, walking distance from anything you could ever want as far as entertainment goes. I picked up two degrees from State and loved every minute of it!

Actually trolls, he’s gonna walk on campus, see the women and get down on his hands and knees and thank God he commited!! That is one of the best kept secrets about GSU. The pickings are even better now than when I went there. Thanks dawgfan for the support hope you guys win it all this year.

He obviously is a smart, level headed young man with parents that support his decision. For Braves Fan79, your comment could be taken as a threat so watch yourself. Why can’t people just be happy for this guy and wish him well at GA State? Lets do this Will!!!!!
