Two junior quarterbacks who are leading their teams into the second round of Georgia’s high school football playoffs are getting some recruiting attention:
Burke County’s Donquell Green got his first offer from North Carolina last week. Green has rushed for exactly 1,600 yards and passed for more than 1,000 this season. In last week’s 35-7 playoff win over Perry, Green returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and intercepted a pass. He’s the leading candidate for Class AAAA offensive player of the year.
Pierce County’s Tyler Harris got a visit from an Alabama coach on Friday beore his team’s 33-27 overtime victory over Central-Carroll. Harris has passed for 2,262 yards and 27 touchdowns this season. He led Pierce on a 60-yard drive in the final minute, completing four of four passes, and his sneak from the 1-yard line tied the game at 27-27 just before overtime. Pierce County coach Sean Pender says Harris (6-3, 205) has no offers but serious interest from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt and North Carolina. ”The kid is going to be a D-1,” Pender said. “I just don’t know where yet.”
