UGA adds 3rd recruit to class

UGA women’s basketball added a third recruit on Thursday.

Halle Washington, a 6-3, forward from Bossier City, La., signed with the Bulldogs. Washington is rated as the nation’s No. 30 overall prospect and No. 10 forward by ESPN’s Hoopgurlz.

“Halle is obviously very well thought of on the national level and rightfully so,” UGA coach Andy Landers said in a press release. “She a tremendous competitor…a warrior. She has a complete skill set, is eager to develop and fits very well into our style of play.”

Washington was named second-team all-state by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association for Class 5A as a junior after averaging 14.9 points, 9.3 rebounds 2.6 blocks and 2.2 steals per game for Parkway High School. As a sophomore, Washington was tabbed honorable mention all-state and first-team All-Metro by the Shreveport Times. Washington signed her papers at Parkway on Thursday morning. “I told everyone that was there for the signing that what makes her such a special ballplayer is that Halle realizes she has a God-given ability and she works hard every single day to make the most of that,” Parkway coach Aaron Megee said. “She’s a hard worker who was blessed with skill and to be really tall. Halle competes every day to be the best she can be. That’s what separates her from the other 6-2 kids that are out there.”

Washington is UGA’s third signee of the weeklong NCAA early signing period. On Wednesday, Georgia received papers from Samantha Glodis and Sydnei McCaskill. Glodis, a 6-3, forward from Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach, Fla., is rated as the nation’s No. 18 post prospect by Hoopgurlz. McCaskill, a 5-7, guard from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla., is rated as the nation’s No. 86 overall prospect by ESPN.

So looking at ESPN recruiting these guys are considered not that good, but then again for a program like GA got to start somewhere before you get to the higher ups and what not.

Time to get rid of Landers is well past. Now getting beat out for top local recruits by Tech. It is time to move on, build a statue and get someone that the ladies want to play for.

bawahahahahahahaah. GT signs the #2 player in the nation. Yet she wasn’t the best player on her team last year. And when the best player went down, she couldn’t lead her team to a state championship in little AA against 5′10″ white girls. Too funny. All style, no heart. Watch out for momma. OMG. hahah

Landers inept coaching is well documented. We never sign the top girls in Ga. They go to Tenn or UConn and now Tech. Just watch how Landers ruins these kids when they get in his system.

Amazing how people want him gone. He is 707-225 (.760) at Georgia. Yes, he doesn’t have the National Titles like TN or UCONN but who does? He’s a good coach. People who say he needs to go aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed!!

Hey informed, there were no 5-10 white girls on Lovett’s championship starting five, which was all black, just so you know.
