Could Tramel Terry commit for a third time?

The 4-star wide receiver from Goose Creek High School has already committed twice to UGA and currently remains pledged to the Bulldogs.

However, Terry quietly took an official visit to Clemson this past weekend, which has created speculation that he may switch his commitment for a third time.

“It wouldn’t surprise me,” Goose Creek coach Chuck Reedy told DawgNation’s Radi Nabulsi.

Reedy, who is a former head coach at Baylor and Clemson assistant, told TigerIllustrated’s Ryan Bartow that an announcement could come during December’s Shrine Bowl all-star game.

He also told the website that Clemson is recruiting Terry at running back.

The first time that Terry committed to UGA was two summers ago, as one of three 2014 players that pledged at Dawg Night prospect camp, along with Camden County High School QB Brice Ramsey and 5-star RB Derrick Henry of Yulee, Fla. Henry later backed off his pledged and presently intend to sign with Alabama.

Two months later, Terry re-opened his recruitment to include both Clemson and South Carolina because he felt like he “rushed” his initial decision.

Flash forward to last March, and Terry committed to UGA again.

Last week, before his trip to Clemson, Terry explained to the AJC why he wanted to take an official visit to UGA.

“I’m just going to Clemson; that’s all I can say about that. I’m 100 percent going to sign with Georgia. With Clemson, I want to take my official visits. I would take all of them, if I had time.”

Now the Clemson trip may turn out to be more than just an afterthought.

Chuck Reedy hates UGA and is doing everything he can to get Tramel to go to Clemson.

Tramel wants to play with Ramsey in college

Will be interesting to see if Clem$son can change his mind

If they are recruiting him at RB then someone at UGA needs to drive home the shelf life of an NFL RB versus WR. Geez, really??!!

The trend is becoming to flip, where 3-4 years ago there was very little flipping. If it becomes a fad, and that’s what 17 years old love ( Me to Me to) then you might see flips for a second 15 minutes of fame. I like the way Mark does it. Focus on player, spend a lot of one on one and get the handshake and committ in private. Not fool proof, but the game of 20 commits and 40 offers still out is not Richt. You lose some that way, but it works most of the time for Mark. I’m still concerned about crashing and burning against good, ranked teams. It doesn’t appear to be talent.

Who cares…how many of these “hot shot” recruits actually pan out? How many do we actually coach up? Just my opinion.

So who is to blame prospect, process, media, recruiting websites?

A.) Prospect: Well they are kids 14-21 year olds (JUCO) who are flip and flopping like mad now when they didn’t ten/five years ago why? Are kids different now than then I don’t think so much and if so it is miniscule.

B.) Process: Everybody has the right to choose and change their decision before a “binding letter of intent” is signed without ramifications (LOI). That is still the same as 5/10 years ago maybe a slight modification somewhere along the way but nothing to my knowledge which would be a significant ‘game changer” causing all these flip/flops.

C.) Media: Well now we enter a gray area where some media has ventured from reporting events to creating them; I say yes you could surely point a finger or two in the direction of the “mother ship” the major player, but not the only fish in the sea that makes a living off controversy and stirring the pot.

D.) The recruiting websites themselves:

1.) They funnel huge monetary revenues into many pockets (all legal like) in exploiting outdated NCAA recruiting bylaws which were never designed to counter this threat because it did not exist 5/10 years ago.
2.) Money flows and kids flip, that’s how this ball bounces and the same people report it now and some even charge a price for that “insider info”…. Get ‘ya coming and going.

My point: you can’t blame the Elephant for the circus act…

Ok, so with Demarre Kitt de-committing from UGA, let’s have UGA coaches visit Tramel Terry and let Mr. Terry know how important he is to UGA…

I would tell this flip flopper i would make the decision real easy for him by pulling his scholly and rewarding it to a kid who dreams of playing at UGA. There a lot of hard working kids in this state who would love to come to UGA and play. And those are the type kids who usually end up making themselves into good football players. How many of these ballyhooed recruits up fizzling out and how many of the under the radar kids end up being good football players. Guys like david pollack and thomas davis who came in here under the radar and left as stars. How about david greene the winningest QB in UGA history, no other scools were beating his door down. I’m sick of the prima donnas and they never seem to pan out here anyways.

Just to name a few of our recent recruits who have not lived up to expectations:

Isiah crowell – already kicked off the team
Alec ogletree- missed four games after 2nd drug suspension. A lot of talk about how great he is but yet to even play a full season.
Ray drew- could someone put an APB out on this guy? He was supposed to be great but if he can’t start for our underachieving defense something is wrong.
Christian lemay- in limited play he looks really underwhelming. Will he ever start a game at UGA?
Marlon brown- has developed into a nice possesion type guy. Big target and certainly not a bust but he was supposed to be an all world type recruit.

We have had guys like stafford and AJ that lived up to the billing but both of those guys comitted early and never wavered. It seems like the ones who want all the attention end up doing the least when the lights go on for real.

Chathsworth Dawg is pretty much 100% wrong. It’s easy to exceed expectations when there are none and easy to “not live up” when expectations are high. You’re picking examples selectively and they’re not even good ones. Ogletree is a beast for our defense. Ray Drew is a sophmore, let’s not write him off yet. Crowell won SEC Freshman of the Year last year while spending a chunk of the year playing hurt. Sure, he’s not there now, but let’s not doubt the talent. And from everything that’s been put out, he’s handled the exit with class. It’s long past time for UGA “fans” to attempt to do the same.

Do you not think we could go back through rosters and name hundreds of under-recruited guys who didn’t pan out. Or 5 stars who did.

With fans like you whining about everybody on the current roster, we don’t need fans. It’s past time UGA “fans” support the players that show up every day and put on the uniform and get pummeled for the pride of your university. To do anything less is cowardly. You hide behind a keyboard talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Really Paul? I keep hearing how much of a beast ogletree is but he has spent most of his time hurt or on the sidelines after a SECOND DRUG suspension. He may have raw physical ability but it hasn’t translated to him being a difference maker. And a good argument can be made that herrea was playing the position better than him. And your praising crowell? Yea he was a great kid riding around town with a gun with a filed down serial numbers. And not only is he not here anymore but he laid down in every big moment when we needed him the most. Remember the UT game and the SEC championship game? And if ray drew was so great why can’t he help our sorry defense with zero pass rush?
Clowney started at USC as a true freshmen. How about it paul?

Now let Ramsey go to Ga. Southern where he belongs, and go get the next GENO SMITH. I’m talking 6′2″ 215lb. dual threat QB STUD, ANTHONY JENNINGS. Just kidding DAWG fans. You’ll get your blonde haired, blue eyed QB. Anthony is LSU bound anyway. Gonna lead them to another National Title. You better hope the Tigers don’t roll back in on y’all’s schedule. Anthony will do y’all just like another Georgia native did. I’m talking Richt and Booboo’s tight end prospect, CAM NEWTON! 32 years Dawg fans. 32 friggin years, and with personnel decisions like these, it’ll be another 32. Go DAWGS!

I find myself strangely uninterested in where he signs. If UGA doesn’t get some more big time offensive linemen in this class it doesn’t matter how many 4/5 star WR’s we get. UGA has big time athletes coming out of their ears, yet they lose to USCe 35-7. The old FSU strategy.

October 12th, 2012
12:47 am

Bottom line: No matter the class ranking, UGA isn’t “man enough” to win anything of consequence under CMR.

October 12th, 2012

Kid needs to move on and open a spot for someone who wants to play at UGA. Hope we aren’t left with more egg on our face. We need linemen anyway…

Dogs overdo it with skill players. Seems track star recruits is all the dog coaches want. Linemen for both sides of the ball should be the priority. The dogs have lost a lot of good in state linemen to other schools lately;

Does anybody care if a WR is wishy-washy about coming to Athens to play ball?

Hell, we had the #1 WR in the NFL Draft on campus for 3 seasons, and where did that get us?

Lack of recruits, and recruting rankings ain’t a problem at UGA.

another screwed up mind needing attention, maybe he will leave. that is one of our problems now, if you don’t want to be there, get out, or play like you want to be there; oh, and COACH like you want it also.
