Tennessee-bound AJ Davis of Buford HS (247sports.com)
The Twitter world had a front row seat to Monday night’s college announcement of AJ Davis, the son of 13-year NBA veteran Antonio Davis.
This was the tweet sent out at 9 p.m. sharp by the younger Davis, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward from Buford High School:
I’ll be attending the university of TENNESSEE! #GoVols
Davis picked Tennessee over Clemson. It was the second day in a row that Clemson finished as runner-up for one of the state’s top basketball prospects, with Marist swingman Quinton Stephens committing to Georgia Tech over Clemson on Sunday.
Davis, who was ranked a 3-star by Rivals, also considered Auburn, Georgia Tech and UGA.
While Davis had everybody’s attention on Twitter, he also put out a message about Adam Smith, his late teammate who died on Sunday after collapsing three days earlier during a basketball workout.
I just wanted to let everybody know that my Buford family & Adam Blake smith is still whats important to me … Committing was something I had to do but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss him
As a junior, Davis averaged 13 points per game at Buford.

The more appropriate question is can he dunk? The one tried and true sign of a legit baller is the dunk test. If you can’t dunk, you’re not a true athlete…

AJ will be a good college player, he like every other kid just needs to continue working hard on their game and believe in themselves and their coaches. Best of luck AJ, alone your addition coach Martin will return the Vols to a first class program.

Good luck at UT. Nice to see local kids have their hard work and dedication pay off with a college scholarship.

UT has a good PG coming in from Bama and landed the Nations best shooting guard yesterday in Robert Hubbs a five star.
UT will also add Nichols (another 5 star poward forward from Memphis).
Coach Martin is the man!

I also saw him play and was not impressed. UT’s sports programs have been declining, so I am surprised he chose them. Clemson would have been a better choice.

I didn’t know dunking = balling some of you people got issues. If that’s the case why doesn’t Lebron win every year he’s been in the NBA?

TN in decline…..what exactly is Clem’s son? I suppose that pasting by WV in the bowl game last year was a sure sign the tiggers are on the rise. LMAO

Dear Floundering Fox,
You really know a lot. Georgia backed off recruiting Davis many months ago.

Wow. A 6′8 high school forward averaging 13 per game. Sounds like decent numbers for a 6′3 high school forward.

And he’s the second 6′8″ guy who weighs only 200lbs
How much did Kevin Durant weight a 6′9″ guy coming out of high school?
(195lbs) how much does he weight now, 210lbs. You guys must be football people, you really don’t know much about basketball if you don’t think these kids can be very good Basketball players. I’m just saying!

Some people on here obviously know very little about basketball, , went to school w/M.J. and I remember people saying that he was to skinny, couldn’t shoot, and played single A ball….. Hmmmm…. how did that turn out. Like wise D Rodman was a terrible shooter in H.S…… the point???? it’s much to early to tell about a kids future….. congrats on his signing & keep it moving. (Also did any of you see Shaq in HS? he was slender)

The way Cuonzo is recruiting, AJ will win some SEC Titles and maybe even a National Title while at UT.
