Tyren Jones, who is considered by some to be the state’s No. 1 prospect at RB, recently made an unofficial visit to UGA.
That normally wouldn’t be a big deal – except for the fact that Jones has been committed to Alabama since last February. The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder from Walton High School picked the Crimson Tide over UGA and Clemson.
UGA is still chasing hard after Jones, who was the leading rusher in the state’s largest classification last season.
Why did Jones visit to UGA? He hasn’t talked much about it, perhaps not wanting to worry Alabama fans. But he finally revealed the reasons to the AJC in the above video.
Jones also talked about his high school teammate, offensive lineman Brandon “The Finisher” Kublanow, who is committed to UGA.
Are they trying to form a “package deal” to go to Alabama or UGA? Jones also addresses that in the video.
UPDATED: No disrespect to the one and only Robert Nkemdiche, but Tyren Jones may have been the most outstanding performer in Saturday’s Corky Kell Classic at the Georgia Dome. Jones rushed for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win over Brookwood.

THis kid is good and is putting on a clinic in the Dome right now. I want to see the backs ranked better than him bc they better blow my mind bc this kid is a monster. He looks like a man amongst boys against a traditionally good brookwood team so it is not like he is playing a bunch of scrubs. He might get to three hundred tonight. He has vision, size and speed. He can play as a true freshmen and his offensive line are killers too. He better enjoy that line cause it wont be that easy next yr but he looks good when they miss assignments and he has to do it himself. This is gonna be a great back. Looks like a SEC back if i have ever seen one. Bama yall got a monster in this kid!

that J. cole for brookwood is gonna be a good back to for brookwood what yr is he. He has speed and power and great balance. He is racking up numbers too. His offense just cant score. Priester has made some good catches but he will have to redshirt in college. He is not ready yet. He needs to work on the small things that make good wr’s great. He can develop into a great receiver bc he flashes that talent every now and then.

Jones is head and shoulders over Henry. Bama would be making a huge mistake if they signed Henry bc Jones would probably leave and hopefully we could pick him up but who knows. I have watched Henry play and i thought he was good but he is not a running back in the SEC. He runs straight up and his lateral movement is not that of a top tier rb. I would take Jones all day over Henry. Saban might screw up on this cause that grass is not greener. Just watch the game on right now. Jones is putting on a clinic against a great georgia program.

Thx Blackout:
Henry has already started the domino effect, so to speak, with Greg Bryant’s de-commit from Oklahoma. UGA turned Bryant away earlier in the year, thinking Henry’s commit was solid. Now Tyren Jones is showing signs of flipping…. it’s wild!
I am surprised Saban, with his eye for talent, would risk losing the two RB’s already committed of Tenpenny (who out performed Henry at the Nike camp in Oregon) and Jones… unless Saban values Tunsil more than either of the two backs…. that’s it, Jones for Tunsil & Henry… then Henry will be converted to LB.
By the way great pick-up for Bama in Walker… I thought of Tampa Gator, as soon as I read the headline…. I’m afraid Tampa Gator is in for a bad year!

jones just went 52yds for a td that makes 31 carries for 310yds. dude is putting on a clinic. this kid is way better than crowell ever dreamed of being and he is only a four star rb and is not even a top five rb. whoever ranks these players need to get their head out of their butt. Crowell was a five star at a 2A school this kid is at a 6a school and is faster and is thicker. He looks like he has been in a college strength program. I got a feeling his stock is about to rise through the roof. I have seen greg bryant and derrick henry and some others run today and none come close to this kid. i cant believe he is not a five star running back. he is the best kid i have seen on tv today including the games on espn and the clips i have seen on the internet. I know i am going on and on but this kid is gonna be something great.

You Bama fans are fooling yourself if you think that for one second Jones is coming to Bama if they sign Henry. If Henry is watching Walton tonight no way is he going to Bama if Jones stays committed to Alabama. Of course if Tonsil is some sort of package deal with Henry to Bama. If that were to happen then no way will Jones stay committed to Alabama. Either way Bama is gonna lose a good player. Possibly 3. Personally I would be surprised if Henry doesn’t pick Tennessee and I think UGA still gets Tunsil. It that happens then maybe Jones stays with Alabama, but then again without Henry going to UGA, Jones may follow his O-Lineman buddy to UGA. Either way you Tide fans are delusional if you think you are gonna get all of those RB’s.

To my fellow Georgia fans. Please do not allow yourselves to get caught up in the verbal warfare with some of the crazed Tide fans . Just keep in mind that if you take away all the players from Georgia who play for Bama the Tide would at the most be a 8 or 9 win team. CMR must close the border. I`m very sure if that happens the Tide will start to roll backwards.

Dawg gawn…. I think Tenpenny is more likely to flip than Jones. Arkansas has gone all out recently trying to keep the state’s #1 prospect home. Either way I feel Bama will be fine. Young talent in the team and you have two elite RB prospects from Alabama in the 2014 class. As for Tampagator… Lol that guy is all hot air. He loves his team so I respect that. Your right though, the gators are in for a long year. Reports from their practices have been brutal. Good luck this year. Hope to see the dawgs in Atlanta.

The question remains: in a year when extraordinary talent runs smack into a shrunken roster and gaping needs, how in the world does Georgia trail on 75 percent of the top instate kids? No Foster. No Nkemdiche. No Lawson. No Adams, and likely no Jones.
Rabid fan base. national following. Early playing time …. and Whiff. Why?

Brown Dog: Foster is FROM Alabama. He lived in GA but moved back to Bama where he lives currently. Those kids don’t stray from the Bama schools.
Nkemdiche plays for a former Bama player. He was long a Bama lean until Clemson showed him “family love.” LOL
Lawson is already a major discipline problem. He also thinks he doesn’t fit Georgia’s defense.
Adams: Who knows.
Jones: Probably saw Keith Marshall and Gurley commit and Henry verbal to Georgia. Things have changed.

Anthony Jennings goes for over 300 yards total offense, not including his 25 yard touchdown reception. He freezes Tray Matthews on a 26 yard touchdown run, Newnan’s head coach is quoted as saying, “IF THERE’S A BETTER QUARTERBACK IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA, I DON”T WANT TO SEE HIM!” And he’s a UGA LEGACY, for gosh sakes! GREW UP A DAWG FAN! And Richt/Booboo stand by AS USUAL, and watch the kid go to LSU. Les Miles and his staff have to be like, ” Something just ain’t right about Richt. Richt’s duty to you guys AND his players, is to bring in Athletes who give UGA the best possible chance to win a National Title. He and Booboo breach this duty year after year as they ignore in-state talent like Brandon Greene, Octavious Jackson, Shamire Devine, Chance Warmack, JuJuan James, Joshua Outlaw,Vadal Alexander, AND ANTHONY JENNINGS to sign kids they have a PERSONAL PREFERENCE FOR. With Booboo it’s sooo obvious. It’s his upbrnging. With Richt, it’s shameful. 32 friggin years.

Macon Teegraph has an article in today’s edition entitled “As usual, Dawgs look for answers on the offensive line.” AS USUAL. As usual, Richt and Boobooo’s answer is to throw it all over the place, and when the field shortens and you’re in the red zone, try a field goal. Your answers were in state, now they’re OUT OF STATE. Chance Warmack, Brandon Greene ( BAMA), Octavious Jackson, Joshua Outlaw, Max Garcia (GATORS), Jujuan James (TENNESSEE), Vadal Alexander (LSU), Shamire Devine, Jeremi Hall (TECH). There were your answers. 32 years. 32 years. 32 years.

UGA has their targets at RB now that DH decommited. And I’m not sure that Tyren Jones is one of them. But who knows what will happen in this crazy buisness. I hope it works out for Tyren. He’s talented enough that I’m sure he will have a great place to call home.
One thing is for sure, it doesn’t appear that commiting to Saban early in the recruiting process is in your best intrest.
