One of the nation’s top junior college prospects is headed to UGA.
Trenton Brown, a 6-foot-9, 350-pound offensive tackle, committed to UGA on Friday morning. He also claimed football scholarship offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Kansas.
Brown attends Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, and is ranked as the nation’s No. 10 prospect out of junior colleges by 247sports.com.
Brown is commitment No. 24 for UGA’s 2013 recruiting class. He is on track to graduate early, and enroll at UGA in January.
“That’s big for Georgia, and will give them immediate depth,” said Rusty Mansell, National Recruiting Analyst for 247sports.com.
“I’m not sure there’s a bigger and more physical-looking prospect in the country. He told me this morning he’s 6-9 and 350 pounds …. And you would think a guy that big would be a little stiff. But he’s not. He’s got incredible [flexibility] for a guy that size.”

Brainiac….and others…..
College football is a passion for hundreds of thousands of people nation wide…..just check the people going to games on Saturdays and watching ESPN before the games…and the MULTIPLE channels carrying the games during the day and night on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It is a passion for me as well…..I love the culture and the sport…..but what makes it for me is game day and the festival like environements in places like THE SWAMP, Sanford Stadium, and Bryant-Denny Stadium…..and many, many other stadiums. These sites are fun for most of us who love the game….but I have many other passions for life as well. College football is just one of those passions that makes life so wonderful to live…..WHY KNOCK OTHERS FOR HAVING A PASSION IN LIFE…..so many don’t and don’t enjoy life.

Well said, I love the atmosphere of college football no matter what team it is. My brother-in-law is a Clemson grad and I go to a game or two a year with him because I love everything about college football. I will be at the Dome with him on Sept 1st to see them play Auburn. One of the few times I will root against an SEC team.

Octavious Jackson, an OL recruit from Moultrie, committed to the Gators over Vandy this morning. He is a 3-star who was not heavily recruited by the big schools (including Georgia)….but came to FNL and really impressed the coaches. It pays to go to camps. Very bright kid as well….high character kid too…..Muschamp’s kid of guy.
The commit to Georgia by Brown and Jackson to Florida….again makes me think Tunsil is Bama bound.

@ Tampa Gator:
I am 73 and have lived a basically a illness free life although it is NOT because I worked at it but mostly I guess I inherited good genes and crave the food that supposedly is good for you. I do enjoy all types of outdoor activities, primarily hunting, fishing, gardening, yardwork and the likes.
Keep at it and hopefully your health will improve while enjoying the exercises that are good for you. We all have a huge amount to be thankful for if we are able to get out of bed, bathe and feed ourselves and get in a vehicle and drive ourselves to doctor/dentists, etc., appointments. I hope all y’all live to be 100 years old and the last voice you hear is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m just pulling your chain. Naturally I have to give UGA a hard time because I graduated from a different SEC school. I Have nothing but respect for Gawga and Mark Richt, I think he’s a good coach. However, I think he’s accomplished everything he can at Gawga.

Tampa, I really don’t think us signing this kid or UF getting their guy will sway him either way. Most of these (especially top players) think they will come in and beat anyone. He won’t decided whether or not to go to UGA because of a JUCO player and UF because of a 3 star lineman.

Florida has 23 spots max this year…..Jackson makes 21…….I think Walker will be a Gator and make 22…..and Harris will be a Gator too…..makes 23…..just the numbers don’t match up with Tunsil for the Gators. Georgia does have a lot more spots…..I think the Gators may be headed in another direction now with Tunsil…..maybe not Georgia or Bama….so it might be between those two schools now for his services.

Tampa, maybe I am being pessimistic, but I worry about Missou. With our suspensions, I’m just not sure how pass-happy (and successful) our linebackers, corners, and safeties will be against their offense. Their D is also better than A&M, not to mention a night-game.
As for A&M, I do not know who they lost this past season, but they can absolutely roll up the scoreboard, but have an uncanny ability to blow 20 + point leads the 2nd half. What time is the game? Not a night game I assume? I guess with A&M, I just see being down by 10 at halftime is essentially winning based on their past couple of seasons.
At the end of the day, it is hard to complain though. I’d rather be facing Missou with our suspended starters than USCe like we usually do week 2.

Silly Bloggers, I’m really not that worried about Missou. That pass happy offense will have a hard time keeping our front seven out of the backfield. Can’t throw the ball when you’re on your butt. Brandon Smith will be back, Damien Swan got playing time last year and he was a top CB out of High School, and Lakatos and Grantham said last week that Mitchell is probably our best CB already and that’s including Commings. Defense will be just fine. Missou ranked 61st in defense last year and has no depth on the D-line. I heard one of their media guys on a radio pragram a couple of weeks ago and he predicted they will lose 4-5 games this year because of lack of depth on their defense.

@Silly Bloggers A Bama fans prediction for the UGA vs. Missouri game. The home field is going to be the 12th man for Missouri in the 1st quarter of the game and the adrenaline will be high as well. Don’t be surprised if UGA is down after the 1st quarter. The second quarter the edge is going to where off the Tigers and the UGA defense is going to start wearing down the Tigers and produce a turnover or two. If the “O” has come together they will began to wear down the Tigers and the running game should be in full stride. Look for the Dogs to win but not by a bunch.

Here’s the story I just read on UGA sports.com:
A source close to Tunsil told UGASports on Thursday morning that the Bulldogs hold a clear lead for Rivals100 prospect, and that a team that was long thought to be the favorite may be all but out.
Tunsil recently did a video interview with Rivals.com stating that he had a top three of Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, but the source close to the Sunshine State mauler told UGASports that Florida is “pretty much out of it at this point,” and that is a big reason that the Gators chose to offer Colquitt County offensive lineman Octavius Jackson earlier in the week.
That same source also told UGASports that while Tunsil is “a fierce competitor that loves the game of football,” he was also a little turned off by the “football factory” feel at Alabama.
The Crimson Tide are still very much in the race for Tunsil’s services, but it appears that Georgia is the team to beat at this time

kerry b and Bear, as long as we win, I will be satisfied. The night game atmosphere is exactly what I worry about (and I tend to worry about the Dawgs, especially on a nationally televised stage). If a betting man, it may be smart money to bet on Missou the first half, and the Dawgs in the second. I would consider it, but making half-time bets makes me feel like a degenerate…kinda like an alcoholic who won’t drink before noon…like that makes a difference. Wait, that is me on game day!

@kerryb Bama is not for everyone. But if you want to go and have some of the best if not the best coaching in the country go to Bama. If you want to play in a system that the pros use go to Alabama. If you want to go go a school that has a head coach connected to the NFL go to Alabama. If you want to go to a school that everyday you have to improve your football skills or lose your staring spot go to Alabama. Bottom line football is life at Bama…….no grey area. Either you love it and embrace it or get pushed to the wayside and left behind.

@The Bear… yea grantham and richt have no connections to the nfl. they also never put players in the league. they also really suck at developing talent. there will be no defensive players takin in next years draft. not one. the fact is that the only difference in bama and uga is saban. you can achieve the same goals at both places and they both provide that opportunity equally well.

The Bear, I believe UGA runs a Pro Style offense and is known more for their offense as a whole than Bama. Bama may run pro offense but they run the ball way more than UGA does. UGA’s offense is built around balance. Grantham also runs pretty much the same 3-4 defense that Saban runs and coached longer in the NFL than SAban did.

I like Richt, but there are two big differences between the programs:
1. I’d rather have Saban than Richt in a close game or to make the necessary changes early enough to turn the game around when your team is losing.
2. Depth…Bama has it, UGA doesn’t. If we had 85 scholarship players, the differernce between thet two programs would not be as pronounced.
Still, I have seen Richt pull some magical games out in the past…but the problem is that they were all over four-years ago. Hopefully, the Richt of old will show himself this year and get us over the bump from above-average to great again.
Go Dawgs!

I guess you misunderstood. I am 100% DAWG and have been for over 50 years. I live and die with UGA Football. It wasn’t too many years ago that if I couldn’t be in Sanford Stadium and UGA wasn’t being televised it ruined my weekend.
What I don’t agree with is the fools that are constantly bitching about CMR, his staff, McGarity etc. and yelling about how great Saban or Miles is, and trashing anything Dawg Nation related. I am pretty well sure of who the trolls are but my disgust is for those DFINO that would not be completely happy if UGA went undefeated for 10 consecutive years and a NC every year.
Most of the civilized world knows CMR is a class person and that he will never embarrass UGA as some have done to their schools(Penn State, Ohio State, USCw, etc.). CMR has a better won/loss record than all but 2 active coaches in America and those 2 are NOT Saban and Miles. He has won 6 SEC East Titles and 2 SEC Championships in his first 11 years.
My passion for UGA Football is as great as anyone’s. It even exceeds my passion for deer and dove hunting and that, my friends is saying a lot. I just pity the fools who are always wanting CMR fired. What he brings to the table is not brought to the tables by many, if any. other college coaches
