Steve Spurrer has been on a hot streak in Georgia (AP)
Brendan Langley, who once upon a time had UGA and Alabama as his co-leaders, made a surprisingly commitment to South Carolina on Wednesday.
It was not only a surprise that Langley picked South Carolina, but also that his runner-up was Tennessee – not UGA or Alabama. UGA held out hopes of luring Langley because his good friend and Kell High School teammate, safety Quincy Mauger, recently committed to the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-1, 187-pound cornerback announced his decision in a press release:
I’m very blessed to have this sort of problem on my hands. One of the best problems you could ever have as a teenager growing up. I know that I had help reaching this point and I would like to thank these people up front. These people being my family, who I truly love and are 100% to my decision, as well as my high school teammates and coaches at Kell. Special thanks to the Kell High School community who is always supportive of our program in supporting our fundraisers and attending our friday night games. And to Natarvis Chang, my head coach Derek Cook, Eric Burke, and Fabian Stone, who all mentored me throughout this process and kept me level headed. There’s no football like Kell Football.
The recruiting process has had its ups and downs. I’ve met many of college football’s finest players and coaches and I’d like to thank them all for showing they were interested throughout this whole ordeal. This was a very humbling experience. I wish all the programs that dealt with me, nothing but the best in the future.

After a lot of thought and prayer, I’m more than proud to accept a scholarship offer from the University of South Carolina. I’m doing this, I’m about to fulfill 80% of my dreams. NFL being the other 20%. The SEC is the best conference in college football. South Carolina is a beautiful state. The university is an SEC monster as well as a national contender and I can’t wait to help them reach another SEC title and even a national title. I can’t wait to play for a coach with such experience and control as coach Spurrier.
I am very excited to see what my future holds at South Carolina, however as of now all of my focus is on the 2012-13 Kell High School football season. I am ready to continue to make myself, as well as my teammates better and reach our goal to a state championship. Thanks again to everyone involved. Go gamecocks! And go Longhorns!
Steve Spurrier is having another banner year in Georgia: Seven of his 19 commitments are from the Peach State, with the 4-star Langley being the highest ranked.

God almighty…..how many Smittys are there out there??? Smitty…..so you know….
1. I am retired.
2. I live on the beach
3. I spend a lot of time on my back deck smoking cigars, drinking wine/dark beer, and watching beautiful women walk down the beach…(and often get yelled at…not really…she understands….by my beautiful wife)….and serfing the internet and reading sports blogs (nothing much else to do between 2 and 7 in August…and before kickoff in September)….when I am not fishing. I hate watching TV. I love to read books….and when I get tired…I put the book down and check out sports blogs.
4. I ride my hog a lot around the beach….cannot blog then
5. I fish a lot on the beach
6. I fish a lot on the flats
7. I fished for 4 hours today out behind beautiful Caladesi Island…..check it out on the internet…you will be impressed with the place.
8. I have also taken up bike touring…bought a Scott CRI 505 with Ultegra gear system (peddled 20 miles yesterday at about a 15 to 18 MPH clip on the Pinellas Trail and I think it will be a new hobby in the fall when it cools down…..not bad for an old man.
9. I am also an excellent landscape photographer….and my photos hang all throughout my home an many other homes of people I know…..and I have added a lot of new Florida landscapes to my large collection of photographs….best ones are of the cities along the Greek shorelines and the inside the Grand Canyon….spent 14 days and nights down in the canyon rafting and going on hiking adventures taking photos……
10. I used to travel a lot as well…..but a minor stroke due to a blood clot is now limiting my time in the air (doctor’s advice if I want to continue to support my Gators).
11. I am also an excellent cook and cooked my wife Godess Salmon tonight and even posted on this blog while doing that…..I was an excellent multitasker in my business career.
12. And….if you don’t know…Georgia is my second favorite team….but there are a lot of Georgia fans on here that are not my favorite…or a favorite of them. I grew up in South Georgia and was a big Dog fan growing up….also pulled for Tech when they were not playing Georgia…huge Billy Lothridge (RIP), Billy Martin, and Lenny Snow fan.
Well….do you get it? I think most of the people know all this since I have been posting on here for multiple years as Tampa Gator…..and will continue to do so while multi tasking until the AJC tells me I can’t anymore….but since I rarely if ever insult or am rude to anyone…and I do not mind if someone is gay……and neither does my wife……I don’t think the AJC minds me being on here
Now….I was watching the Braves before the rain came….but there are other things I can do…so I will. I hope I answered your wondering about me having nothing to do. I hope I do not have to doi this again….for everyone’s sake. Thank you.,

As I have stated many times before the 2 best teams in the country played for the National Championship like it or not. Alabama didn’t make the system. And I am not going to explain it. (Most avid football fans know the guidelines). If want to know the real truth USC Trojans were the hottest team in the nation besides Bama and LSU not OK State by a fair margin.

Notice the religious connection dawgs. Latimore is a religious guy too. Kid usually get this at home. Mama hears you got a wrecking crew in Athens and Mama says Junior you going somewhere else. Richt use to get these kind of guys but when you got kids lighting up the drug test you are going to start losing good kids and keep getting the bad ones.

And gamehen troll nice try that being scared comment gave me the best laugh I’ve had all day.

Why wouldnt he go to SCAR when they’ve sent the following DBs to the NFL recently:
- Jonathan Joseph – HOU starter
- Chris Culliver – SF starter
- Captain Munnerlyn – CAR starter
- Sheldon Brown – CLE starter
- Andre Goodman – DEN starter
- Dunta Robinson – ATL starter
- Stephon Gilmore – BUF starter
- Emmanuel Cook – BAL backup
There’s isn’t a school out there that can compete w/ the quality and quantity of DBs. And that my friends is why Branden Langley chose SCAR.

I’m tired of spurrier stealing the top players from georgia—he needs to stay in south carolina. Ga needs those players more than he does.

To all you so-called Bulldog fans that bitch & moan everytime a recruit from the state of Georgia signs out-of-state – you need to get a life. Do you know how many kids are recruited out of Georgia HS’s every year? CMR can’t sign everyone of them. He signed the No. 1 recruit in the state last year (Crowell) and look how that turned out. Georgia is a talent rich state, second only to Texas & Califonia (maybe Florida). The point is, we can’t sign them all. There’s no way you can keep them all in state. CMR got the two best players from NC this year in Marshall & Gurley. Do you hear anyone from NC crying? No, because they only care about basketball! The best CMR and his staff can do is evaluate talent and offer kids scholarships. Where they end up playing is ultimately up to the kid being recruited. Unless he signs with Auburn, in which case he may have been paid as much as 180K to sign there.

I can’t understand how, with several “Dream Team” years, UGA is ten scholies down. It is as if they put themselves on probation. Gamecocks got the AAAAA defensive player of the year from Georgia last year, and this very articulate young man will be a great addition.

But if you can’t eyeball this young man and what he says, and spend five seconds talking to Crowell, and tell the difference, then you truly have “lost control”
