Reuben Foster flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn on Thursday.

UGA was also serious contender for Foster, the nation’s No. 2 overall college football prospect who had been committed to Alabama since last summer.

Here’s Foster’s statement, according to al.com:

Over the last few weeks, I’ve really put a lot of thought and time into where I wanted to (continue) my football career. I am blessed that I am in the situation where I have several great opportunities, and I appreciate everyone attending this meeting. I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get on with all the work that I need to do for high school and get prepared for college, both academically and athletically.

I am going to enroll at Auburn University.

I have a lot of respect for Alabama and the coaches and all the other people and the fans. But at the end of the …

“I want to go up there and check it out; I have a good relationship with the Tennessee coaches,” Mustafaa told the AJC on Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from Alpharetta High School said he remains committed to UGA but plans to take all five official visits as a senior.

“I’m going to use all five,” Mustafaa said. “I’m going to fly to Cali to see USC. I gave them my word that I would visit there. I’m also going to try to get out to Nebraska for a game. So it will be those two, and another one – Oklahoma State.

“Oklahoma State, they were one of my first offers. They were my No. 1 school at one point, when I only had a few offers. The only way for me to get over …

Surprise! Ex-UGA commit Derrick Henry to attend ‘Dawg Night’

UGA got some good news about Derrick Henry, the 5-star tailback who de-committed from the Bulldogs recently after visiting his new favorite school, Alabama.

Henry announced on Twitter that he will be attending “Dawg Night” prospect camp on Friday.

Dawg Night Friday ! With all my boys

A few days ago at Nike’s The Opening all-star camp, Henry confirmed again that Alabama is his leader, with UGA as the runner-up. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder from Yulee, Fla., will make his final college decision in December, and then enroll early in college the following month.

Despite the fact that UGA still trails Alabama, Henry’s appearance at “Dawg Night” can’t be anything but good news for the Bulldogs.

Georgia Tech prospect camp: What’s in a name?

UGA has “Dawg Night” camp.

Florida has “Friday Night Lights.”

Georgia Tech? Like many of the colleges across the Southeast, it has a camp nickname that is simple and to the point – “Yellow Jackets Football Camp.”

Georgia Tech has 10 commitments for 2013 (AJC)

But should the Yellow Jackets come up with a more creative or memorable nickname for its camp?

You see, kids remember camp nicknames, even if they are cheesy and really not that creative. It’s all about the marketing with the young ones. It’s hard to find any top D1 prospect in the state of Georgia that doesn’t know or hasn’t heard about “Dawg Night” – which will be Friday in Athens, Ga.

Yellow Jackets Football Camp will be Friday and Saturday. For more information about the camp (registration and fees), please click here.

Darius Curry: Oklahoma State edges Georgia Tech for 3-star DB

DB Darius Curry (AJC)

DB Darius Curry (AJC)

Darius Curry, one of Georgia’s top defensive backs, will be following in his brother’s footsteps to play at Oklahoma State.

On further thought, Curry says that’s not the case.

The defensive back from Flowery Branch High School picked Oklahoma State over Georgia Tech, while also considering South Carolina, Auburn and Tennessee.  His older brother, WR CJ Curry, signed with Oklahoma State last February after de-committing from UGA.

“I didn’t really follow my brother; but now that I’m committed to Oklahoma State, I’d say that’s a plus,” Darius told the AJC. “Before, when I wasn’t committed, I didn’t want to base my decision on CJ. Just because a college was a good fit for him, it didn’t mean it would be for me.

“I’m not just going to go to a place just because my brother is there. But now that I’m committed to Oklahoma State, I’m going to say, yeah, it’s pretty cool that he signed there.”

One of the state’s top wide receivers will be following in his brother’s footsteps.

Ryan Jenkins, a 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Lassiter High School, committed to Clemson over Oklahoma State on Sunday night. Jenkins is the younger brother of Clemson defensive back Marty Jenkins.

“Having talked with his parents, they like what is going on at Clemson,” Lassiter coach Jep Irwin said. “His brother is at Clemson, and Ryan was exposed early to that environment. His family has a lot of respect for Coach [Dabo Swinney]. I think they feel very comfortable there with the family atmosphere.

“Ryan handled the recruiting process very well, as did Clemson. They are really doing well this year, especially in the state of Georgia with guys like [Robert Nkemdiche].”

On Sunday, Jenkins made his announcement from The Opening, the all-star camp at Nike Headquarters which featured around 150 of the nation’s top college football prospects. Jenkins …
