Florida QB to play at Georgia State

QB Oshay Carter

QB Oshay Carter

Georgia State picked up a commitment at QB, despite the fact that he’s never visited the campus.

Oshay Carter, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Jackonsville, committed to Georgia State over Florida International, Troy, Rice, Tennessee State and Florida A&M. He was also being recruited by Central Florida as an “athlete.”

“Georgia State was one of the better offers I had left, and I wanted to go ahead and make my decision now so I don’t have to worry about it my senior year,” Carter said. “I’ll be visiting in August, and that’s only two weeks away. I’m pretty sure I will like it. Atlanta is a nice city.”

Carter knows Georgia State’s coaches because he worked out for them at a summer camp last month at Camden County High School. Carter already had an offer from Georgia State before the camp, but decided to participate anyways.

“I got to spend some times with the coaches, and I really liked them,” Carter said. “I talked to [WR Devonte Washington, who is also committed to Georgia State]. He said the campus is beautiful. Out of all the places he visited, he said Georgia State has some of the best facilities. I’ll be going there on Aug. 3 with my parents.”

Carter has always wanted to play QB in college. “It has been my dream since I was little. My parents supported me 100 percent with this decision. I get the opportunity to play QB at Georgia State and I’m excited.”

Last month, another Florida quarterback (DJ Juste) committed to Georgia State and then changed his mind two days later because he felt like he rushed it.

O welcome to the A! Hit up ya boy….2 Chainz!!!! when u git in. Haha. All joking aside, you have an excellent opportunity at a highly regarded with a legitimate up and coming program. Do your parents and your community proud by doing well academically, athletically and most importantly, becoming a fine young man. All of Atlanta and, especially, the Georgia State community will be rooting hard for you and the Panthers. W’ve being dying to embrace the QB that the will take us to the next level like Daunte Culpepper did for UCF’s program. S/O to Devonte for your help in bringing the “Big O” to the A!!!!

cool for GSU. I wish them well for a long long time….
since I can stick this in a section that literally nobody is posting on – here is what Brookwood’s McGee said about UGA “You can go to 15 different colleges, and they are all competitive, as far as the facilities. They all have the ‘wow’ factor because that’s how they recruit. You go to LSU or Alabama, and there are certain things that are attractive, things that have the ‘wow’ factor. But when you get down and look at Georgia, it’s 45 minutes from home and you’re playing in the SEC – the best league in the country. If you have the opportunity in front of 100,000 people every Saturday and you’re from the state of Georgia and you’re going to live in the state of Georgia, what’s the downside? There’s not a whole lot you can do to improve on that when life choices are concerned. Not just football, but the whole package.”

I love these kids who commit to a school without going to visit the school or the city it is in.

Does this kid even know what Ga State is or what classes it offers? He might even think its Georgia Tech, not GSU. Based on his “beautiful campus” remark he’s in la-la land.

I love when we have commits recruiting for us. As the article says, he knows the coaches and has been actively talking to them.

Welcome to Georgia State University Oshay! Troll on little trolls. Time is on our side! The State of Georgia needs other options for In State and Southeastern athletes to select from and the fact that THE ATL is a MAJOR T.V. Market doesn’t hurt our chances. 2013 THE SUNBELT and ten years from now who knows where the REAL GSU might be competing. It’s all good so get over it and support your own. GSU is here to stay and as GStateBen says ” Onward and upward”

This is a nice catch but remember the DT’s and DE”s are lot taller at the next level. That release point looks a little low for the pocket. Hopefully the Panthers will get all their QB’s more time and on the edge more. Go Panthers…

If I am not mistaken, GSU sent more players to the NFL in 2012 then any other Georgia school with the exception of UGA. I think that puts us higher on the list. I know we aren’t much to look at now, but at least it proves, if you go to Georgia State and work your butt off, you will be given the opportunity to be seen. And that alone helps in recruiting as much as wins and losses.

another early commit for the panthers at qb. Im sure they put the squeeze on him too with the other 5 QB’s they’ve offered at that position. Good luck holding on to him and good luck with this style of recruiting.

OOOOHHHHHH a “Decomitted Panther.” What does that mean? Have you narrowed your choices to Agnes Scott and Brenau?

I’m sure they put the squeeze on him because he was a detriment to the team. Kinda like what you would have been if you didn’t decommit. Yes, I will take fries with my order, loser.
