Reuben Foster says he's "100 percent" with Alabama after flirting with UGA and Auburn (AJC)

Reuben Foster, who is ranked as the top linebacker in the country, injured his hamstring while running the 40-yard dash on Friday and will miss the remainder of The Opening.

The Opening is the Nike-sponsored all-star camp which features 152 of the nation’s top college football prospects. It will be held through Sunday in Beaverton, Oregon, and highlights will televised on ESPNU at 8 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Foster, who is committed to Alabama but has been flirting with both UGA and Auburn, told 247sports that on Friday that he is “100-percent committed” to the Crimson Tide. Foster went his buddy Tray Matthews (the Newnan safety who is committed to UGA) to last month’s Mark Richt Camp.

Foster is the former Troup High School standout who transferred to Auburn (Ala.) High School after his coach was fired.

Here are the 12 Georgia players participating in The Opening:

  • DE Carl Lawson, Milton (committed to Auburn)
  • DB Shaq Wiggins, Sandy Creek (committed to UGA)
  • RB Alvin Kamara, Norcross (Undecided)
  • QB Brice Ramsey, Camden County (committed to UGA)
  • S Tray Matthews, Newton (committed to UGA)
  • LB Trey Johnson, Central Gwinnett (committed to Auburn)
  • WR Kyrin Priester, Brookwood (Undecided)
  • DB Brendan Langley, Kell (Undecided)
  • WR Ryan Jenkins, Lassiter (Undecided)
  • OL Brandon Kublanow, Walton (Committed to UGA)
  • TE AJ Jackson, Lovejoy (Committed to Auburn)
  • OL Shamire Devine, Tri-Cities (Committed to Georgia Tech)

I think Tray Mathews sticks with UGA and RF sticks with Bama. Both are enjoying the process and having fun with the media.

MC… after your update in the RN article, I don’t see anymore RN exclusives in your future. lol I for one appreciate your reporting the way that deal is going down. Took the sting out of losing him cause I certainly can’t see Saban playing that game.

Bama RB commit Altee Tenpenny finished second overall with a rating of 144.99. Right behind him in third with 144.6 is Bama RB recruit Derrick Henry.

Altee ran a 4.42 forty while Henry turned in a 4.46.

If a guy can run a 4.4 40 then he can play RB.

I would encourage you to develope a rudimentary understanding of the game of football before you come at me. Pee Wee Football 101.. if you can’t block their guys, your guy can’t run the ball. Basic concepts that seem to forsaken CMR. My guess is Bama has better blocking than “Buford U”.

glory between the hedges… just for fun lets say your brother and “Clay Matthews” father are in fact good friends who “regularly talk”. Forget the fact that “Clay Matthews” played at USC and is currently with the Green Bay Packers so I don’t know how his father would have any inside info on this situation. Lets say he does and your brother is great friends with him. Lets just say your brother is correct and that your brother drives a nice truck that has cool rims. Lets say “Clay” drives a piece of crap but has met Robert Nkemdiche. If you are correct and all that other stuff is correct and RF ends up at UGA…. Clemson will still offer Clay a scholly and your program will still suck and Bama still be competing for SEC and National Championships every year. That’s what makes this sooo sweet! LOL

You know, if you need the comments of a rising senior high school football player to provide you with some level of personal bravado or self-esteem, you might need to take a good look in the mirror and evaluate your so-called life. Try doing some charity work or at least help an old lady cross the road. Otherwise, good luck with your richly satisfying life.

Blackout, lets get everything straightened out, Bama has won 6 legit national championships, the other 8 were awarded by a single obscure poll dispite the other major polls picking someone else, 2 were even awarded by a single individual some 20 years after the season, some more were gifts, much like this last one when Bama not only didn’t win their conference, but didn’t even win their division. While you continue to worship Saban, while Richt might not have a natonal championship, his recored against Saban is 2-3, which is respectable, I think even a Bama fan can realize that is pretty even.

As for Rueben, I don’t really know if he ends up at UGA, but the chances of him landing at Bama is less than 50%.

At this time UGA has not recruited well for the 2013 class.

We have alot of holes in the depth chart.

If we do not sign some LB’s and DL in 2013 class, 2012 will be the last time UGA is relevant for many years.

Posting at 3 in the morning??????? You also left out the part where the ESPN reporters stated that Henry looks like a defensive player and that they think he is too big (tall) to play RB. He is a hell of an athlete though….which should make it easier for him to make the transition from offense to defense at Bama at some point. Bama needs to go get that LB from Texas…..a white kid….and the most impressive athlete (don’t think he is committed yet)…..ran the fastest 40 of all the kids in the competition.

@Blackoutanyone Be careful with all the running backs you are recuiting this year. You might hand deliver Bo scarbrough to UGA next year. I’ll take him over Henry,Jones, and kamara. There’s no way he goes to bama if you sign 3 backs this year. Tell reuben if he’s 100% bama, he should not visit a program 3 time in less than 6 weeks. Not to mention inviting other studs to go alone with him. I talked to the people from lagrange and they don’t think reuben will last two years no matter where he goes. The kid have some issues up stairs. UGA need to pull his offer and work on kimbrough and the Auburn commit who was never offered. He said UGA was his favorite school going into the recuiting process. Give him the energy that you are giving that prima donna

Blackout,

My friend, if you are sitting at a Huddle House at 3 in the morning and on an AJC blog at that, you seriously need to get a social life. Usually the only folks in there at that time of morning are those too drunk to drive or truck drivers taking a break. At least elevate up to the waffle house level, LOL.
As for Foster. I think the kid is just having fun with the media and enjoying he 15 minutes of fame in the process. I really don’t know where he is going and I am not even sure he does anymore. He is torn between his allegiance of his commitment to Alabama, and his real desire to play ball with his friends. I think in the end, he could flip to the DAWGS because they are almost like brothers and blood is thicker than water so to speak. Either way, this kid is special so it might come down to where he could be more special at.

Anyone whose sense of self-esteem depends on the word of a bunch of 17 and 18 year old teenagers and what school they may or may not commit to is a moron……..

And as far as the world holding it’s breath while the great recruitment of Robert Kim-dee-chee played out, well, now we know why Clempson got him……No other coach was willing to sign the whole Grayson football team to land him…..Clempson and Yabba Dabba Doo were obviously willing to waste scholarships to do so.

Reuben can go to UGA or AU and will not make any difference in the success at Bama. He can win with the best or get best like the rest. TenPenny and Jones are solid to Bama and stated if Henry selects the Tide it will have no part in their process and hope he does come to Bama. OJ Howard is the best receiving prospect Bama has ever had other than Julio Jones and we have to keep him on NSD.

Reuben 100%…right that is 100% full of himself. The HC’s of the major college get paid much I know but really to be trolled by a bunch of kids is a bit much. We need more kids with character and less characters and that is true no matter what jersey you wear.

Let’s see. UGA has verbals from 4 LB’s and 2 DT’s. It would also appear that they have a shot at Adams and Foster, so I kind of wonder what game it is that changer is watching. There are also a lot of both positions still out there uncommitted that see UGA in a favorable way, so perhaps Game Changer is getting GT confused with UGA. It should be simple to figure out. UGA is the team that has owned the other team, GT, for the last decade and GT is the team with the very weak defense. Hope that helps you out in your thought process.

Enter your comments here Georgia has a problem with perception. The coach is to friendly with his players. The players don’t fear the coaches so they run wild away from their parents. Lack of discipline. Coach Saban don’t play that. No buddy buddy. Its all business. You work hard, you play hard. Anything less you are taking up space. If i am a parent, I steer my child away from coach softy to coach hardball. If i am a player, i want someone who will bring out the best in me. Bless Coach Richt but he’s no Coach Saban. It’s just not in his DNA.

Frankly, it is too bad that success in college football is now based on winning the national championship and recruiting the most 5 star players (most of which do not end up being that great or eventually playing in the pros). The four team playoff will probably be limited to a select few conferences and teams……again taking some of the joy out of the game and the bowls. Too many bowls to begin with…..too much emphasis on the NC…..and way too much emphasis on recruiting 5-star kids like Rueben Foster. He reminds me of the 5-star LB of a couple of years ago…..Luc…..he was playing with the media all the way up to signing day…..then after leaning here and there for so long…..signed with FSU…..and is an uphappy backup player for the Noles. Wait until you get to college and do something before “gathering your friends around you” and “being 100 percent committed to someone.” I THOUGHT COMMITTED WAS 100 PERCERNT…..NOT 85 PERCENT….or 50 PERCENT….OR TAKING VISITS WHEN YOU ARE “COMMITTED.” The recruiting process is a joke….and it is becoming laughable…..and SAD.

If they have beautiful women….then Alabama has something more than just football….right? They also have the beautiful gulf area……great fresh water fishing lakes….good golfing resorts…..the foothills of north Bama……and state patrol and police officers that look the other way when they know you are a football player. I bet Georgia fans wish they had at least the last thing mentioned in their state.
