QB Nick Schuessler: Another one of Robert Nkemdiche’s teammates is headed to Clemson

What was Robert Nkemdiche’s reaction when he found out that his high school QB – and another close friend – will be playing football at Clemson on Sunday night?

“We are about to start a dynasty [at Clemson].”

Nkemdiche signs with?

The congratulatory text message was sent to Nick Schuessler, the QB who led Grayson High School to the Class AAAAA state championship this past year. Schuessler signed with Mississippi State last February but decided to leave last week – a few weeks after enrolling in summer school – to play closer to home.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Schuessler said he will join Clemson as a preferred walk-on.

Schuessler’s decision to go to Clemson will likely strengthen the commitment of the nation’s No. 1 consensus college football prospect to the Tigers.

Schuessler and Nkemdiche are longtime friends: They teamed together in Grayson’s offensive backfield (with Nkemdiche playing tailback) during the state championship run. Nkemdiche has also lived with Schuessler’s family at times.

Schuessler is the fourth Grayson prospect that will be enrolling at Clemson, along with the rising senior trio of Nkemdiche, RB Wayne Gallman and DB David Kamara.

“Well, of course, Robert, David and Wayne all played a special role in me deciding to go to Clemson – they are family to me and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity  to get to play with them again,” Schuessler said.

“But I think, more importantly, getting to play for such a good coach and Christian leader in Dabo Swinney and all the coaches, I think that’s special, too, and played a big role in helping me make a decision.”

Schuessler said he will join Clemson as a preferred walk-on, and could report as early as next month. “The way my release [from Mississippi State] is, I’m not allowed to have financial aid for like the first semester or something like that, so yes I will be a preferred walk-on until I earn my scholarship.”

As a senior at Grayson High School, Schuessler completed 121 of 181 passes for 1,753 yards and 19 touchdowns. His coach compared his skill set to former UGA QB David Greene.

Does this “seal the deal” between Nkemdiche and Clemson? What do you think? Please post below.

Cfootballfreak… Let me assist you. “The way my release [from Mississippi State] is, I’m not allowed to have financial aid for like the first semester or something like that, so yes I will be a preferred walk-on until I earn my scholarship.”

He would have to walk on anywhere at first but rest assured Clemson most certainly has offered this kid a scholly. I believe the total is now 4 schollys to land RN. Saban would have no part of that. That’s not how you build a championship program. Amounts to trading 4 first rounders for the #1 overall selection in the nfl draft.

Read Scuhuesslers comments – he left miss because it was not a “fit for him,” and he wanted to “play closer to home.” why read more into it? He had a grey shirt offer to sign with Clemson in 2013, but opted for the SEC which he now admits was not what he should have based his decision on. Where is there foul play? Why is Clemson cheating and why should Grayson lose their state rings? Maybe Scuhessler got to Starkville and realized its not the program he wants to be associated with. His offer came late but he did have a legit offer from Clemson back in the fall and passed on it. He will pay his penalty for leaving early by sitting a year. he walked away from a sure thing to an unknown thing – I dont call that stupid, I call it walking by faith

Big Crimson 75….

1. As I said, the Alabama State Patrol wouldn’t know anything about Bama players…..never will, ever. “Bama football players?” as recent officer was quoted as saying. “They play football in Alabama? I didn’t know that! My, me.”

2. Not sure what Florida player beat the s….. out of an assistant coach. I guess I would need to ask the Bama State Patrol about that. They would know for sure.

3. Yep….Cam Newton did that. Was later asked to leave Florida. Then helped Auburn beat Bama and win a NC…..you must have loved that.

4. Georgia will never be like Florida…or visversa. But South Georgia and North Florida are a lot alike. Just ask a Bama State Patrol officer. He or she (I think she was a she) know.

5. Any of that make sense to you? Typical of me to ask such a dumb question. Obviously not. Why don’t you go ask a Bama State Patrol officer. He or she knows everything…..but tell nothing.

Have a nice day.

Oh……Didn’t Bama offer courses in reading comprehsnion? Of course not, otherwise no one would be a Bama State Patrol officer and Bama players would once in twenty years get into trouble with the law…..while they are still on the Bama football team….that is.

Just having some fun, Dawg fans. Josh just had momentary loss of sense…..going out late at night with that Crowell fella. Dad will make sure nothing like that ever happens again…..or he will call him on the phone and whip his butt.

Reading comprehsion? WTF? So if Bama players stay out of trouble that means Saban has law enforcement throughout the state on lock down. LOL that’s some real intriguing, thought provoking stuff right there. Sad to see a gator fan stoop down to ole miss type behavior. Suppose a few sub par seasons will do that.

Dabo better hope that trying to recreat a HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM is a smart move…taking a players friends just to get him is not in the best interest of the team. of course RK is a special player, but he’s not Cam Newton, and i cant think of any other player on a recent team that has been more important to a team winning a season, without Cam AU was mediocre that year, and RK is not the QB at Clemson, theres only so much hes going to be able to do…no hard feelings, wish them the best, but we’ll see if Dabo’s choice to take anyone and everyone connected to Robert is worth it in the end…

To think Bama players don’t smoke weed is ridiculous. To think Saban has the fuzz on lock down is idiotic at best. I think Bama players like any other school have had their share of off the field problems. When you have 50 players arrested in 4 years then extend the coaches contract the only recourse is to attack the legitimacy of other school’s policies. The truth is UGA players don’t respect or fear their coach. Does anyone really think UGA won’t have more arrests this summer?

why does everyone think the grayson players are scrubs and baggage to clemson? they won the 5A state championship in ga’s highest classification! they went undefeated and ran through some south georgia powerhouse teams. why is it so unusual that Clemson wants players that not only have great athletic ability but good character off the field? (unlike UGA) no doubt nkemdiche is a man-child, but the other three can stand on their own merit too. I watched them run through their region and then through play-offs. these boys are special to watch – and mark my word, i bet there will be more Grayson boys getting offers to Clemson. they dont have the #1 defense in the nation for nothing – yea – check that out. screw the star ratings – winning is all that counts when the 4th qtr is up

Just because Alabama runs a tight ship and no longer tolerates malfeasance in any for is not the point of question.

Why can’t other programs recreate his process is the fundamental question at hand.

Possibly because CNS has been able to keep his core staff at home and has not been exasperated trying to find suitable replacements all the time.

Maybe he has developed a process where leadership and responsibility are intertwined within the athletic/academic student.

One needs to remember that “ALL” athletics/academics are improving at a rapid rate since CNS has arrived at Alabama and it is not only a question of football alone we are scoping here through the looking glass.

Alabama is doing a lot of things right today, how are they getting it done and can we copy their successful processes for our own would be a more plausible argument to have.

graysonproud, They may have had the #1 defense in high school, but that same defense would have been maul by a college offense. In high school, you have just a few good players, in college everyone on the team is good, that would be like saying a college defense could handle an all pro team offense, its delusional to even think that way, if star ratings don’t mean anything, how come the ones with the star ratings always have the best teams?

So every recruit every year is a “first round pick”? Seriously? Every recruit ends up being a first team player?

Good grief. The other two guys were recruited by other SEC and ACC schools, are they the highest rated kids Clemson has pulled in? Nope, not even close….looks like a pretty good class overall so having the two (ESPN says one a 3 star and the other a 4 star) on their own isn’t exactly a bad thing.

Glad you seem to “know for sure” that he’ll be on scholarship….maybe he will, often there is a ’ship or two left over given to some walk ons, but again – you really find a lot of issues w/ taking these kids? Seriously?
