Did Isaiah Crowell make the wrong decision by going to UGA rather than Alabama?
That’s a nuclear topic that was examined and debated by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer’s Stephanie Pedersen that you can read by clicking here
Some of Pederson’s points:
*When the Bulldogs were recruiting Crowell, the entire fan base looked at him as the savior of that program. Some even said Richt’s job depended on it. Alabama didn’t have those types of expectations. Crowell could have been one of many stars in the Tide’s backfield.
*Crowell drew the ire of his Georgia teammates early with a lazy work ethic. They wouldn’t come out and say it, but they alluded to it all last summer. Laziness doesn’t win championships. If he had that work ethic at Alabama, he already would be at Jacksonville State.
Again, click here to read Pederson’s full commentary and then feel free to come back and discuss here.

Yes. He would have been better of at Bama. He wouldn’t have any arrests or suspensions at Bama.

It seems to me that Isaiah would have gotten into trouble no matter where he went. If you’re dumb enough to ride around at 2 in the morning with a gun that has an altered serial number then you’re just waiting to get in trouble. I’m sorry but that is just stupid. What was he trying to do? Show off for those underclassmen? Let’s say he did have trouble with somebody or someone else pulled a gun on him, if he would have shot them with that altered gun (most likely stolen) what would’ve happened then? Just another dumb kid trying to play hard. He was a star RB at UGA. He should’ve been banging sorority girls instead of trying act tough for his boys. Good luck Isaiah, I hope you get your life straightened out. Just do it somewhere else. Go Dawgs.

He would have gotten busted wherever he went. Dude thinks he’s gangsta…guns, nightclubs & weed. He doesn’t care about fototball…he cares about partying and having everyone stroke his ego. He was all hype coming out of HS and his first yr proved it was just hype. Dude would tweak am ankle & beg to come out. Most guys would play all game with way worse injuries. This guy couldn’t wait to go to the pine & sip Gatorade & show off his dreads. The guy only cares about getting high and trying to be a thug. Now he can go get all the weed he wants bc he ain’t gonna be playin anywhere.

He made the wrong decision when he purchased or was given the handgun with filed off serial numbers or if he did the filing and then decided to put it under his seat and go out putting himself and his friends in danger good thing the gun was never drawn or this story would be much worse. I think he has moved on and the team has moved on now can the ajc move on–no bc the bama fans will eat this up and the negative so called georgia fans will eat this up too and talk about how the head coach has loss control of the team and we recruit the wrong kids even though we recruit the same kids everyone else recruits. This story is over hopefully Crowell will learn from this boneheaded decision and get his priorities straight and he needs to realize you got a short window to make this football thing work for you and then time catches up to you or stupidity. He will get one more chance to make believers out of people one slip up and his life could be dramatically different. He has crumbled the lottery ticket up and is so close to throwing it in the trash. Time to straighten up and cash that ticket in. good luck crowell.

Alabama doesn’t drug test so he wouldn’t have gotten popped for drugs. Also Alabama doesn’t tolerate their law enforcement hounding their athletes. What else but harassing student athletes was the purpose of the road block right on top of the dorms where the majority of UGA’s student athletes are living? Sabin would NEVER allow this type of stalking of his football players. The UGA University President and the Athletic Director should demand that the law enforcement put a stop to this persecution of UGA athletes.
Regardless of the circumstances, the end result would be the same. A druggie thug wouldn’t cut it on the football field at either school.

He would have done this at Bama, too. Certain athletes are the same everywhere, including Tuscaloosa. Saban is a control freak and nothing negative about the team is allowed to get out (including from the PD to the media). We do not have that luxury. You are a pinhead if you think otherwise. Would love to see an investigative report on that.

Stupid article. Alabama is light years ahead of Georgia. Crowell would have been 4th string at best as a freshman in Tuscaloosa. Therefore, Georgia’s recruiting evaluation is suspect if he was a “savior”. Saban is a better evaluator of talent and gets the players he wants out of Georgia and Richt gets the scraps. 1980 will be Georgia’s last national title. Live with it!

Even this Dawg knows that is a pinhead statement. Bama’s 7 or 8 (real) NC’s are more than many SEC teams have in SEC titles. Bama has something like 24 SEC titles. UT and UGA are next but well behind.

Alabama is a “Johnny come lately” is one of the funniest and most delusional posts I have ever read on a blog. You must have been born around 2000 I guess. Some of your comments are comical to read but this one wins the prize for the best. I suppose jealousy and envy fuels hate which leads to comedy. Until you address leadership of the program you will continue to be bitter. Anyone who has ever been part of a team or an organization knows that the behavior of the group is influenced by the tone set by the leader. Many of you do not understand nor grasp this concept. Hate on Saban all you want to, but results speak for themselves.

Interesting since Saban has become coach how his players only get into trouble after they leave school. So all that time at Bama they were choir boys we are to beleive? In your dreams….That football campus is quarantined to outsiders for info by the master. Hey, it helps win championships when you don’t suspend.

dear, fans who hate coach saban
I am a curious observer. Why? Really? why? Is it a human reflex to identify and vilify the ones who you feel are responsible for your inadequate performance. Maybe someone outside the state of alabama is to blame for your championship expectations not being met. Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with the fine folks who are a part of the glory that is Dawg Football.
