How will Isaiah Crowell’s dismissal affect UGA’s chances of signing Derrick Henry?

Henry is the 5-star RB who de-committed from UGA earlier this month after being pledged to the Bulldogs for nearly a year. He decided to re-open his recruitment because he felt like he rushed his decision but emphasized that he is still considering UGA.

On Friday, Henry was made aware of Crowell’s arrest on Twitter, and he responded by taking up for Crowell, saying:

“Pray for Crowell instead of bashing him. Because everyone wasn’t raised the same nor made .. So everyone should just pray he sees a better way.”

Later on Friday morning (before Crowell was dismissed), Henry was interviewed on Birmingham’s 97.3FM or SmashMouth Radio. Here are some of the highlights:

  • On hearing from UGA since Crowell’s charges: “I haven’t gotten any calls from UGA but fans on Twitter [let me know] what happened this morning, saying they need me back. That’s about it.”
  • On defending Crowell on Twitter: “Basically, I just said that everybody needs to pray for Crowell instead of bashing him because everybody wasn’t raised the same or made the same. And pray he sees a better way. That’s a real tough situation .. you can see by his tweets and what he tweets about [that] he had a tough childhood.”
Ex-UGA recruit Derrick Henry showed a lot of class with his compassionate remarks towards Isaiah Crowell (247sports.com)

Ex-UGA recruit Derrick Henry showed a lot of class with his compassionate remarks towards Isaiah Crowell (247sports.com)

  • On Crowell being charged with gun possession: “I don’t do that but everybody is different. Maybe he had a situation, so you never know what’s going on. The world is crazy nowadays. Nobody can really say until you talk to him, so I couldn’t really speak for him.”
  • Henry said his top schools are “Alabama, UGA, Tennessee and USC.”
  • Henry said the presence of other top running backs, including Keith Marshall at UGA and TJ Yeldon at Alabama, won’t factor into his college decision. “That won’t weigh [in] at all. That’s competition. Football is competition and that’s what I love. I’m a competitor and I love to compete. Competition is nothing that scares me away from anywhere.”
  • Henry said UGA’s Mark Richt and Tennessee’s Derek Dooley were the easiest coaches to talk to, while Alabama’s Nick Saban is not as easy. “[Saban] cracks jokes. At the same time, he’s always serious. I don’t ever laugh, even if he’s laughing or not … I’m not intimidated. I just respect what he’s done. I just try to listen to everything and try to be serious. It’s just respect out for him.”
  • Henry will definitely play running back in college.
  • Henry’s favorite colors are black and red.
  • Henry tentatively plans to announce in December, and will enroll early in college in January.

nevermind… ha. I feel like UGA has enough depth at the position to compete if the o-line is up for the challenge. Time for a gut check boys. As for the current backs they seem to be staying out of the news and hopefully that is going to be their m.o. BUT, Henry is a big strong kid and would definitely improve the situation in Athens.

What is wrong with this picture…

a very talented defensive player recruit with a child is being given his 15 minutes of fame 24/7/365. The taxpayer picks up the tab for the welfare payment while another school pickups the tab for the new job for mommy and 100 colleges want his name on a football scholly. The we expect them to be in the amen corner and carry the American Flag on the 4th of July!! This sheet is out of hand and I don’t care which school you pull for. 6-8 more years of these thugs and college football is done. Get into to school and get them Pell Grants and if they’re parents if you can find them have depended on the gvt for welfare then the player gets almost 6k per year on you the taxpayer that doesn’t have to be repaid and then you get into the next level of Pell as well. Now you folks that your parents actually worked and had success then you are just sheet out of luck! Is this a great country or what. Sorry to have interrupted for the rant. Please continue to kiss the azz of these 17 year olds that will come and embarrass your schools.

Let’s be honest with ourselves dawg fans. Henry was a year long commit, went to visit Bama and then immediately decommitted. Marshall and Gurley will be with us until the 2014 season at the least. on or off the field.

When the gentlemen in question turned his back on Mark Richt in front of me at the Georgia Dome, during the game when his penalty cost us the game, Mark Richt

SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM BY THE HAND, walked him down the tunnel, walked him to a trainer, told the trainer to call his high school coach, mom, guardian, and wait until they came, then have the trainer take Isaiah Crowell’s hand and hand it to the responsible adult, and say to the adult, do not allow this child back on our functions ever until YOU (responsible adult) can explain what just happened on NATIONAL TV.

Mark Richt is without a clue how to maintain discipline.

NOTE TO GREG MCGARITY :

Sir, this policy of HIDING who the 5 names are who FAILED THE NCAA DRUG TEST during Spring Practice is going to COST YOU YOUR JOB.

I promise I will see to it, sir. Mr. McGarity, sir, we have a University of Georgia POLICY against this.

Coaches can’t baby sit these guys 24/7 so they must be a better judge of their character before they let them sign on the dotted line.

“If you are looking for perfection you will never find fulfillment.

On offense we need to continue to run the ball. Play action only works if the threat of the run is there. I’m puzzled as to why we don’t incorporate more bootlegs and roll outs for Murray and let him complete those 9-12 yard passes. Run the Champ Bailey slip-screen. We have the athletes to make it work.

Our O-line is big but not particularly quick. They can’t hold blocks for more than three or four seconds.

Coach Richt and Bobo need to script a whole game instead of three series.”

UGA biggest problem is they talk at one level and play at a much less level but we all understand. UGA can recruit some talent but you will NEVER win the Glass Ball with the staff you have in place as of today. The players have zero fear of anybody on that staff thus you have what you have. Enough of the IC crap for he is gone and that could be the start of a new day for the rest of the team but only if somebody has a 20 minute come to Jesus meeting tonight with that bunch while Richt is out of town!!!! You have no more time to take control of this situation for one more event and you’re problem could really meltdown.

Recruiting news to change to pace…

Laremy Tunsil, OT
Lake City, Fla./Columbia
ESPN 300 rank: 3 | Position rank: 1 | Grade: 91 | Stars: 5
Height: 6-6 | Weight: 295 pounds | Evaluation

Recruiting update: In a recent interview with GatorNation, Tunsil listed Alabama, Georgia and Florida as his top three schools, in no particular order. That could change, because there is plenty of time between now and national signing day. But Tunsil has made it clear that he wants a pro-style offense, a stable coaching staff and the opportunity to win a championship.

Out of those 3 teams who is this guy speaking of?

“bulldawgs/TB

You are DEAD WRONG about Crowell versus Marshall

Crowell(according to eyewitness accounts), is running over people. The defense is winning overall but Crowell is playing very physical and has won several one on one battles with the defense.

Marshall shows signs of being good but he lacks the physical size of Crowell but has better speed.

Crowell 220 pounds
Marshall 190 pounds

That is why Crowell is 1st team.

Also, regarding the fights. There were 4 total and Crowell was not involved in all of them. Football players fight? Is this really a revelation? No.

Crowell is the best running back on campus.”

Yellow fever, wrong. He can commit, just not to Georgia.

The solution for Georgia is simple. If kids can’t behave, kids can’t play. When placed in suspended animation, they lose the lights, they lose the status, they lose the posse, they lose the women. If problems don’t cease, they move from suspended animation to the bus station. At least that’s where they go in Tuscaloosa. Kids watch how their coaches handle a problem child. They watched Mike Shula. They watch Mark Richt. They watch Nick Saban. Then they make ther next moves.

Which approach works best?

As I said from the very beginning… Crowell made a HUGE mistake by taking the easy route and UGA. If ever a kid needed discipline (Saban) and good role models (Trent Richardson) it was Crowell. That decision has cost him several million dollars. I feel certain many top recruits will take notice.

Where are all the fans who defend CMR on these blogs daily? When are you people going to wake up and hold this man accountable? Paid millions to suck on the field and embarrass off.

I have been concerned about the UGA football team and Athletic Department direction for over 4 years now. It continues today and although you and others say dont bad talk the program, I will tell the truth about what is going on. No LEADERSHIP OR ACCOUNTABILITY EXIST IN BUTTS MEHRE or the ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. This is no longer on the players themselves for bad behavior, our AD states publicly that we will keep things quiet and not punish shows total inept judgement in the highest position of our Athletic Department. If you want to condone this behavior from the AD McQuackity then you can by all rights, but I will not in any way support what is occuring with UGA football and Athletic Department. Can I do anything, no, can I voice my unwanted opinion, yes — will it make a difference, probably not until those like yourself step up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. You, alums and fans are the very definition of ” status quo ” the past several years and look where we are today—–

To the 5 white kids commited in the 2013 class and your parents. You 5 need to think long and hard about whether you want to be a part of this THUG U mentality. Have your parents read the comments by C Washington and it is perfectly clear that this is no place for white football players at this time.

I dont know why a kid would want to come to athens. something is not right at this program. I dont know why a kids parents would want him to go there either. This is very troubling. Crowell looked impressive in our spring game and i love it how some of yall are like good riddance bc we see him again and i just hope it is not against us. What sucks is that we got a good month befor they are practicing with coaches and in full football mode so i am willing to guess we will lose two or three more starters if so i hope it is on the offensive side and not the defensive side bc we only got a few more starters left on defense.

All the arrest this yr and player dismissals will influence recruiting negatively bc a young recruit looks at the arrest, suspensions, and dismissals and they think to themselves the cops in athens are tough. i dont want to go there they arrest you for no reason. Recruits will not think it was the players fault bc these players all know each other either directly or indirectly thru friends and all they hear is i did not do anything man the cops in athens are insane. I work with alot of these kids and i hear this alot and trust me they all know each other if they are within 3 yrs of age it amazes me it is bc of all these showcases, combines and recruiting trips. They will know kids in cali and texas and all over. So the word gets out and it is the words of the suspect. I am not saying it is the cops fault bc i know someone will say that i am saying in a kids eye that is how they see it.

Lakedawg… funny you should mention that. From a recent Rivals survey of top prospects at the 5 star challenge.

Of all the head coaches you’ve talked to, who was the most intimidating?
Nick Saban, Alabama: 30 votes
Lane Kiffin, USC: 5
Will Muschamp, Florida: 4
The buzz: There may not have been a more clear-cut choice in this entire survey.

Saban’s name came up most often when players mentioned which coach intimidated them. His name often came up as soon as the question was asked. And the players often said the exact same thing about him.

He doesn’t smile.

“He doesn’t do any type of grinning, smiling or laughing – none of that,” one player said. “He is what people say he is – strictly business.”

Saban also apparently isn’t much for small talk, according to one prospect.

“He’s been in the elite for a long time and he’s heard it all,” that prospect said. “He just wants to get down to the chase and get to the offer and tell you what he likes and doesn’t like about you. That’s it.”

It wasn’t just Saban’s attitude that made some prospects nervous. Saban’s reputation as the nation’s top coach and his two national titles in the last three years left some recruits star-struck.

“With the background he has, just talking to him was like, ‘Wow, I’m really talking to Nick Saban,’ ” one player said. “It was incredible.”

What school that you’ve visited had the best facilities?
Alabama: 10 votes
Texas: 7
Georgia: 5
Tennessee: 5
The buzz: This was another topic in which prospects couldn’t reach a clear consensus. Keep in mind that many of the prospects had only visited schools in their region of the country at this point in their recruitment. So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they mentioned 27 different schools across the nation.

Alabama impressed recruits with its Hank Crisp Indoor Facility, billed as the nation’s largest collegiate indoor practice facility under one room. The fully heated and air conditioned facility has 97,000 square feet of clear space. Alabama’s Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility includes a 20,000-square-foot strength and conditioning center.

Bama is breaking ground to expand the weight room as well.

MARK RICHT CANNOT BEAT THE TOP TEAMS

June 30th, 2012
2:38 am

“The bottom line is we have rules and we follow them to the T and we have the utmost integrity in how we go about our business. That’s how we’ve built this program since the day I got here and we’re not going to change for any reason.” Mark Richt to the press about 1 of the many Isaiah Crowell SUSPENSIONS for drugs, defended – of course – by the Richt Minions on this blog, the RICHT-0-PHILES, the Richt Apologists, the EXCUSE-MAKERS, flimsy as they are that Isaiah Crowell was going to win the Heisman Trophy and that he was practicing hard and do EVERYTHING RIGHT.

So, what is the SUSPENSION for all the others in the car reeking of the smell of drugs, according to the police report and why they searched the vehicle in the 1st place.

Drugs are a dead-end. They get you absolutely nowhere. 10 minutes after you do $ 150 of drugs, you want more. I need that like a hole in the head. It demotivates you as a an athlete. Athletes do not do drugs. It saps everything out of you. It becomes an obsession. It’s addictive. It leads to nothing but the wrong crowd.

Now, I will not discuss at this point all those in the vehicle with Isaiah Crowell at 3:27 am coming back from a bar, and I note to you how the police handled this, smelling drugs from the vehicle at a checkpoint on campus, that they did not arrest him for DUI coming from the bar, nor was anyone else arrested period, not for public intoxication, not for anything small they could have. Isaiah Crowell says the gun was not his in his mom’s Marquis. That others, HE KNOWS, drive the car and left the gun under the seat with the serial number scrubbed-off.

I just sit here and reflect upon our won/lost record after 2005 when the Jim Donnan recruits were all gone, and reflect on the utter crud on this blog by the RICHT-0-PHILES defending Isaiah Crowell at EVERY OPPORTUNITY and them telling ME that I could not tell you today

Sure I can. I have been on the soapbox from the day 1 beginning about this pariah to our football program, and the one before him at the same position CALEB DARNELL KING.

Mark Richt did EVERYTHING to cover-up for Isaiah Crowell, and treated him as FAVORITE. Co-# 1 Starting Tailback at UGA Mark Richt said just last week.

To which I replied to Mark Richt, utter nonsense.

We are unable to judge to measure to evaluate our talent on our campus, and we have ZERO DISCIPLINE.

Don’t come back to me that Mark Richt stopped his VACATION today to DISMISS Isaiah Crowell from his football team, and that that is somehow DISCIPLINE. Mark Richt had SEVERAL TEACHING DISCIPLINE opportunities with Isaiah Crowell, and WHIFFED on his chances :

Crud you have to love them still.

You have to separate yourself from THUG like Isaiah Crowell : “Oh, I read where the player at Alabama said he could stop me, well, we’ll just have to see about that, no one can stop me,” Isaiah Crowell told the AJ-C to the delight of the RICHT-0-PHILES who defend Isaiah Crowell.

And, where are they NOW ?

I ask you.

“Everything I’ve seen to this point has been pointing to that very thing. So I’m pleased with how they’re handling it. And then the other thing is, you’ve got to challenge the rest of your team to pick up the slack, whether it’s the young guys that are going to get this experience playing running back for the University of Georgia, when they thought that probably wasn’t very likely, all of the sudden they’re getting an opportunity to do something they probably dreamed of, which is a great thing. But the rest of the team, the special teams, the defense, the offensive line, the receiving corps, the quarterbacks, everybody’s got to play a little better to make sure that this situation is not going to cost us.” Mark Richt sir, you are out of your ever-living mind.

First off, what kind of idiot would have his players tested randomly or not, two days before such a big game? There’s not a single coach out there from high school to the pro’s that stupid. On the other hand, if the testing was done by someone from outside the school and the player’s tested posivitive for some drugs, wouldn’t you think that it would be up to them to report the results to the school?”

I think B.S. and LSU were better conditioned and just outlasted us.( and better coached…) I think our conditioning will be better this year, but I’m being an optimist. A slow start this year will spell disaster fo this program. Eventually, the schedule will become tougher and CMR has to improve his coaching to make us conpetitive with Coach Saban and Coach Miles. If you think CMR can out-coach them right now, then that’s your opinion. My opinion is that they along with Spurrier, have a better game-plan than Ga. I hate Coach Spurrier. I lived in his hometown, and most people from Johnson City Tenn. hate him with a passion. What I’m saying is its not just our players that lose the big games, because we win and lose as a team, but Special teams coaches, CMB and especially CMR should bare a load of the blame.

coaches, CMB and especially CMR are also responsible.

I love my team, I want them back to prominence. I want the Georgia Bulldogs to be relevant again. To do this we have to win some big games. Nothing else will do…”

How do you get the nation’s toughest and most confident high school football players to feel as nervous as the overmatched kids who line up against them?

Have Alabama coach Nick Saban give them a call.

Rivals.com polled about 80 blue-chip high school football recruits about a variety of college football and recruiting issues during last weekend’s Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Atlanta. The prospects were asked to name the most intimidating of all the head coaches who had spoken with them.

Even the nation’s best prospects are intimidated by Nick Saban.
Saban, the head coach of the reigning national champions, was mentioned by 30 players. No other coach received more than five votes.

“He keeps it straight up,” one prospect said. “[There are] not too many games and no smiles with him. It’s all business.”

Players who participated in the survey were granted anonymity in hopes it would allow them to be more open and honest in their responses.

CMR does not strike any fear nto his players, so therefore they basically do as they please. OH, but you just gave SAINT MARK a new contract.

Maybe, UGA needs to start a new conference with VANDERBILT, and DUKE and leave the SEC.

All eyes were on Crowell all the time in Athens. In Tuscaloosa, football players are gods. They are worshipped 365 days a year. Crowell would have been a main attraction. He wouldn’t have been THE main attraction.

It’s easy to say things would have been different for him if he made a different decision, and of course, Alabama also has had players with legal issues. You can’t escape it in college athletics.

If you believe message board rumors, many believed Crowell’s mother was wary of Georgia and its discipline problems.

In a story before national signing day, friend D.J. Jones said Crowell’s family was very comprehensive with their decision.

What if Crowell chose Alabama on Feb. 2, 2011?

Well, here’s what we know about Alabama:

• Crowell wouldn’t have been the featured running back. Trent Richardson, a Heisman finalist, was the Tide’s go-to guy. The freshman could have redshirted or taken his time learning the system.

• Crowell may have competed for the second-string position. Eddie Lacey, now Bama’s presumed go-to guy, was Richardson’s understudy.

• Lacey was sidelined several times throughout the season with a turf toe injury. If Crowell wasn’t the backup, he would have seen time on the field during Lacey’s recovery.

• Alabama won a national championship last season.

Here’s how it was different than Georgia:

• When the Bulldogs were recruiting Crowell, the entire fan base looked at him as the savior of that program. Some even said Richt’s job depended on it. Alabama didn’t have those types of expectations. Crowell could have been one of many stars in the Tide’s backfield.

It’s too late for Richt and discipline at UGA for none of the players actually respect nor fear him but they like him as a coach. It is very much out of character for Mark to get into any of his players face and that will just not get done in college football. These are kids and they have to know right and wrong and their is no place for maybe in 17-24 years old kids.

Many of you UGA fans embarrass yourself with your BS regarding the police and drug test standards while man more of you continue the bashing of Nick Saban but that is normal for losers to attempt to talk folks down to your level.

The good news and this is really big for the UGA program is Mark Richt is history and you will have a chance to hire a great coach and then UGA will be headed in the right path. Mark will coach this year but no way will he be the HC in 2013.

Henry will not play running back in college regardless of where he goes. Coaches may tell him what he wants to hear to sign him but he will play tight end, linebacker, defensive end…something other than RB. He is similar to James Wilder who signed with the semiholes…coaches who were honest with him told him he was a LB. Jimbo Fisher told him what he wanted to hear and signed him. How effective has he been as an RB? Has he now moved to LB? And wasted a year when he could have been learning the position.

If the poodles do not sign Henry, will not be a big loss for them cause he ain’t playing Running Back at the D-1 level.

Without a doubt IC was our best running back but this should have been taken care of the week before florida game last year, but it is very apparent that McQuackity himself chose to allow a dozen or more players that failed a drug test the week before Florida 2011 to play, many who had one or more failures already. Information from the crime database –

UPDATE: (4:27p ET): Here’s the official news release from the Knoxville Police Dept. on the arrest of four Tennessee Volunteer basketball players earlier today. Two of the players arrested, Tyler Smith and Brian Williams, are facing felony charges for being in possession of guns with altered serial numbers.

On January 01, 2010, at about 1127 hrs., Officer Sakovich stopped a car for speeding on I-129 at Kingston Pk. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car as he spoke with the driver.

The officer requested back up and a K-9 officer. Officer Chadwell walked his dog around the vehicle were it alerted. The driver and 3 passengers were taken out of the vehicle so officers could search the vehicle.

Items and their locations found inside the vehicle:

A. handgun under driver seat , accessible by either the driver or left rear seat passenger.

B. handgun, with altered serial #, under passenger seat, accessible by either the front seat passenger or right rear seat passenger C. baggy of schedule VI drugs D. open container of alcohol

It could not be determined if the driver and passengers were under the influence of marijuana or not although the strong odor indicated that marijuana had been recently smoked in the car.

Because of this, physical arrests were made instead of misdemeanor citations for the misdemeanor charges. Possession of a firearm with an altered serial # is a felony charge. All four individuals were physically arrested.

@noisey

This is the responsiblity of Pres Adams, McQuackity, RICHT, BOD, BOR, other COACHES

The people listed above are TOTALLY responsible for the football players recruited and thier ACTIONS. This is call DISCIPLINE of the players and or football program. Three ways to control the DISCIPLINE in college football:

1) Recruit young men that are academically qualified and possess 100% good character. This is easily done if these men do the job they are so handsomely paid to do.

2) Make sure that you have a stringent policy that these players understand and adhere to once they agree to sign a scholarship. No different that employees having to follow the corporate handbook or risk the behavorial discipline such as dismissal or probation period. This is spelled out in handbooks, McQuackity nor Richt have a corporate handbook. Richt is from FSU days of chaos, when they would recruit you if you could outrun the police after robbing the mini mart. McQuackity has brought the demeanor of Florida to UGA under the head coach U Meyers which is one of the dirtest times regarding Florida football. Muschamp was given the task to clean this up at Florida when hired, to date he is doing a good job. If you NOISEY feel that any one of the people I mentioned at UGA have taken a LEADERSHIP OR ACCOUNTABILITY role in the past 5 years please state who and how. You gotta love bandwagon Alabama fans. They are too dense to realize that since high school football in Alabama is a laughing stock they need to depend on every single bordering state to supply them with talent since they are incapable of producing their own.

A state of 5 million people cannot produce enough talent to fill up a roster of 115? LOL!!!!!!

@ game changer- i agree some accountability needs to be there. but your statement: No different that employees having to follow the corporate handbook or risk the behavorial discipline such as dismissal or probation period.

So if you say, got a DUI or was caught with a gun in your car- does that make your employer look like they have a lack of discipline or no control??

Funny the jealous haters try and rip UGA for kicking off a troubled player. UGA is one of the most, if not the most, disciplinary programs in the country. Athens police take their job seriously and do not provide police escorts home for star players when they are caught doing wrong like most other major programs, namely those boys about 2 hours west of Atlanta.

EVERY corporate handbook states that a employee whom drives under the insurance of the Corporation and receives a DUI, you will be fired from your job. This is no different than an underage scholarship player getting a DUI, a young lady or man studying to be a educator / teacher understands that if they get a DUI even in college that it reflects on thier ability to be hired as a teacher and they would have to change majors. NO SECRET, WAKE UP

Any employee that carried a gun inside thier place of work , ( “WORK” is equal to the whole campus when a student or student athlete at a University based on the laws ) Yes, I truly believe that if any of the other 4 passengers “KNEW” the gun was in the car that they should be immediately DISMISSED BY THE UNIVERSITY, no need to wait on the Athletic Department. The investigation is on going. All occupants were arrested in Tenn. under this similar situation.

Each of the four other members in the vehicle should have been taken into custody, the fact that this was not done proves the police play favoritism to the athletes. Each member of the vehicle face dismissal possibilities at the time from the UNIVERSITY, no exceptions. Serious issues exist for these four. AT SMART, JHC should immediately withdraw from UGA and move to another school as should the other three. They could leave now and have nothing more happen to them, if not the consequences could be devestating.

IF ANY IS FOUND TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE GUN IN THE CAR, NO OTHER COLLEGE WOULD ALLOW THAT INDIVIDUAL INTO THE COLLEGE OR ADMIT AS A STUDENT, IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL BY THE UNIVERSITY TAKES PLACE These four need to run asap from UGA while they know they can get away without this dangerouse situations affecting thier future.

The SEC could lead the way in reining in the entitled kids that are self centered and are ruining college football. The SEC could tighten up on academic requirements closer to the standards expected from the regular student body and stop being the NFL’S minor league. Let the Pro teams spend the money developing kids that have no business in college . They could also have a no tolerance policy on drugs. Require all SEC schools to test for drugs on all athletes on scholarship once a month. Get caught and you are gone. The main thing is the athlete can not transfer to another SEC school ever. You burned all bridges and lose the PRIVILEGED of playing football in the SEC.
The most important thing the SEC could do is set the same STANDARDS for all the schools geared to not only making the Athletes better players but better young men emphasizing better values such as integrity, ethics, morals and being courteous and humble.

It’s common knowledge and an unquestioned fact that UGA head football coach Mark Richt has brought shame on the state of Georgia and made an embarrassing laughingstock of the state’s largest university. Even the most avid UGA fans understand this even when they won’t acknowledge it, bless their hearts. :-)

The most embarrassing thing is the win-at-any-price mentality of Richt, which has effectively made UGA a football f-a-c-t-o-r-y, with cheating, recruiting of low-intelligence dummies who barely graduated from high school, and tolerating immoral and unethical activities by both players and coaches. Even with all this, he still can’t win.

Richt is a product of the lawless environments of the University of Miami and Florida State University, where he learned well how to conduct himself in the most tawdry way, while pretending to the world to be a saint. Make no mistake – Richt is in coaching purely for the millions of dollars that have been wasted on him, and the millions more he will add until someone in Athens has the integrity and intestinal fortitude to run him out of town.

A truly shameful situation, especially since all Georgians, including UGA alumni and fans, have to live under this shadow of infamy.

This is fact: On Thursday evening 4 different men tested two players each from the Atlanta Braves after the game, 8 players in total. The idea that drugs are not being tracked on athletes and discipline being handed out at the highest levels today is false.

UGA is and has been headed down a very dangerous path in football for many years now and it is being examined from many on the outside. Academic fraud is a dangerous game to play in college football with players. Jan Kemp should have been enough to learn a lesson?

I am old and old school but I would really like to see Nick Saban tell Reuben Foster his commitment is no needed at the U of A. The thought of Alabama kissing this guy azz bothers me beside he and Robert N like Crowell will never be the player their 15 minutes of fame suggest. I just might have to eat those words when he’s a star at some other school and if so then I can handle that no problem. Auburn kissed the ash of Mike Dyer and the guy told the court he did drugs the entire time at auburn and not one game did he miss in 2 years. The two ghetto coaches at the barn actually put pressure on the few good coaches left in the game due to how they recruit. Hell even Tom Osborne is going with the ghetto uniform for Nebraska one game each year!!!! Do you think for one moment the UGA uni for the Boise State game was to recruit white players? 99% of you cats are smart and you understand everything in life is based on percentages of good results beating bad but society is losing this game as of today. I don’t mean to bash Mike Shula but I compare to country as to that very situation where the players had reported fried chicken and Ice cream in the meeting rooms VS Nick Saban gives them all the weights they can lift and a schedule just when to start and end. Nick was able to pretty much safe Alabama but I am not sure this country can find a person to whip this country into championship shape. I hope I am way wrong for all of you and your children. I know this is about one football player but it is much damn larger than who and for what college. Sorry for the rant and the spelling. This year will be another big disappointment. The asterisk this year will be that we allowed Missouri to win its first game in the SEC, just like last year’s embarrassment in the Georgia dome against Boise State and the previous year’s choke against OK State.

NO LEADERSHIP OR ACCOUNTABILITY

McQuackity has put the UGA football program on a tight rope with no safety line. When the stadium on several Saturdays this year has the fewest fans ever that can be remembered people will blame the fan base and alums. THIS IS TOTAL BS. Pres Micheal Adams decided to condemn the fans and alums who support the University, travel to the campus 6 weekends a year to celebrate with friends and family only to be harrased and face childest rules, Adams should be forced to resign ASAP. In just over 10 years Adams has taken one of the most beautiful campuses and turned it into concrete, Adams should be forced to resign. As seen by the C Washington facebook post, a UGA football player that could care less about the University, its student body or alums, it is only about them and they dont care what anyone else thinks, IS THIS WHAT OUR CURRENT COACHES ARE TEACHING TO THESE FOOTBALL PLAYERS?

The UGA stadium for many games is going to be the emptiest ever since memory serves anyone, yesterdays situation and the words being spoken by players and the silence of Adams not terminating the enrollment at UGA of the other four football members in the car with a gun is deafening.

The UGA Pres, AD, BOD, BOR, COACHES is 100% proof of a FLAGSHIP UNIVERSITY BEING TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL.

A person smart…. Cops favoritism? My guess is Crowell probably admitted ownership on the scene. If not it is certainly most prudent to charge the person who is sitting in the seat above the weapon. Had they found weed, this likely would have resulted in an ICE case. Feds don’t play.

Gamechanger… Disagree with your 1:42. What’s illegal about riding around in a car at 2am? Crowell was likely the only one in the car who could be charged if all the weed was gone.

So IC is what, 2 yrs removed from high school? And this is the first thing on his criminal record…But I’m sure it’s not the first time he’s been in trouble with the law. Crimes like he’s being charged with are not ones that a “first-timer” commits. They are escalated crimial behaviors.

ANOTHER sad story of a kid who had so much potential, but was raised so poorly…plain & simple!!
He was so good at football that many a blind eye was turned to his wrongdoings. Can’t ignore it now.

Let’s treat these kids like they can do NOTHING wrong, and if they do, then let’s be sure we DON”T punish them for it. They’ll learn the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong.

@blackout

Every player knows IC is a curse and to stay away. Without any doubt these four were involved with whatever was taking place and were a part of the situation at hand. Drugs and a weapon together on campus is a immediate expulsion. No questions asked. These four knew the past history of IC and what they were putting themselves in danger of. No way any of the four could provide me with a good enough excuse for being with IC at any time outside football.

Just on campus as a freshman, do not, I SAY DO NOT BE AROUND IC AT ALL, OK COACH, MOM AND DAD. It is not even the first fall semester of thier college days and this, JUDGEMENT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH CHARACTER, in this case it is total failure by each of the four and no one should be given a second chance as a UGA student or athlete. Go somewhere else, you are done here.

UGA is going hard after Kamara , Dye and Henry will get one to commit to UGA with Crowell out despite what some on here on saying our backfield has gotten thinner we may or may not get them but i think one of those RB’s will commit to UGA .

@ryan Kamara has never had UGA high on his list, regardless of what is being claimed. Yes UGA several weeks ago started putting full press on Kamara, no way he signs. To many RB’s already that are young and trammel terry will be put in the position that Kamara would excel at making it a no way hosea for Kamara as I see it. Kamara will be USC, Tenn and maybe a surprise Clemson

A lot of employers now screen job applicants by reading their posts on Twitter and Facebook. I wonder of Richt or the other coaches ever peruse the posts of guys they’re recruiting. It would give them a good idea of the fellow’s character and intelligence, I think.

Maybe they should also keep tabs on their current players, too. It doesn’t matter anymore for Crowell, but looking at a few days worth of Crowell’s tweets would have convinced anyone that he’s a train wreck ready to happen.

I can safely predict that within a year or two, Mr. Crowell will either be in prison or he’ll be pushing a shopping cart around, looking for a warm place to sleep for the night.

From day one Crowell seemed like a fish out of water . In an environment that was about as foreign as it get’s. An absolute God Send opportunity to learn a better way from his back ground. With proper parental guidance it would have been something he would have realized and been thankful for it. I have no doubt he will be given another chance with someone else because his talent is just too great but whether he go’s to another top program or a much smaller one like Georgia Military College or Georgia Southern I hope this has taught him that maybe he was a GOD in high school but it is all left up to him whether he will be considered great or a punk in College . Time is running out , he only has a couple more years and nobody can change that path but him. I wish him the best. Let’s move on, enough said.

I watch “Cops” on TV, and when they stop a vehicle, if they find drugs, weapons, or stolen items, if no one in the vehicle admits ownership, the cops often arrest all of them. The police were giving those four guys a huge break to let them go. Hopefully Coach Richt won’t be so generous, but who knows, he may just give them cookies and milk and tell them a bedtime story.

But yes, the four guys were complete idiots, and it’s a good bet that a urine sample would show recent marijuana use. The question is, did Richt order a drug test for them?

On a different note about PENN STATE, JOE PATERNO AND SANDUSKY GATE

It is now public knowledge that Joe Paterno lied to the press and the Penn State fans and alums:

Joe Paterno stopped the two university powers at the time from reporting the sexual issues and Sandusky by negotiating the deal with Sandusky himself as follows: Retire from coaching and not persue any other job for continued support and access to the Penn State facilities. The whole cover up and what took place to hide the Sandusky abuses were made by Joe Paterno. It still does not relieve the two primary university members from thier responsiblity on this matter, look for major charges against the two soon. The payouts to these abuse kids should be negotiated out of court and gotten over with, NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY.

Everything at Penn State regarding Joe Paterno name, statue etc. should be removed.

I know I come here and aggravate you good folks but I am just poking fun and there is a LOL behind each post. My wife says “what are you laughing so about”. I tell her I am giving my AJC friends a hardtime and she pointed out that the shoe will be on the other foot one day. I told her to get out of the kitchen and go mop. I said that to myself as Richard Pryor said about Ms Rudolph! We’re really all in this together that is the folks that are trying to do it right but I be damn we’re getting out flanked by the ghetto schools left and right. Did you ever dream the day would come in college football where the Right way would be used against your school! The word is Mark is at the Lake and not out of the pocket by much distance such as real vacation also rumor that the big TE McNeil from NC is leaning toward the puppies over Bama. Have a good weekend.

Game changer… My response was in regards to the legal aspect of the others who were in the vehicle…not moral. If Crowell was such a cancer that no one should be around him out side of football, I’d hope Richt would’ve removed him from the team. I agree with you on Kamara. My money is on UT and the immediate playing time. I saw that the emails for those two Penn State officials were released today. When the one mentioned he had talked to Joe and decided not to go forward with the allegations… I just don’t know how you let this happen to children. Joe Pa is just as responsible as Sandusky in my opinion. I always say…I hope hell has a special place for adults who hurt children and heaven has a special place for children.

Dog Nation knew well in advance that IC would likely be gone by September. Either his grades would have done him in or his high school Columbus buddies and his lifestyle.

At the end of the day, these young men have to realize that they are out of the hood, when they go to college. The problem is that they urge the HOOD TO COME BACK to them while in College and that is where their judgement needs some fine tuning.

It’s too bad that pretty much worthless AJC columnist, along with most of the idiots that frequent these blogs, could not show the same class and intelligence when discussing the Crowell situation as Mr. Henry has.

This bunch of clowns, lead by Bradley and sadly the UGA AD, have already tried, convicted and sentenced this young man without a thought of due process. But then again, half these clowns (yes you UGA fans) wanted Crowell gone anyways. He was always never going to be more than a thug to these people. You got what you wanted so you’re happy.

As a lifelong Bulldog fan and alum, I’m ashamed of what has been said on these blogs and what has been done in the name of pleasing a bunch of jackasses that hated the guy anyways. Going to be real funny to hear these same babies crying when the charges get dropped (they will), and he ends up at LSU and crushes the Dawgs. And I will be one Dawg fan rooting for him, just so people like you who post on this blog will suffer.

I hate to see this happen to Crowell but it was something that Coach Richt could not overlook. The players that are stand-up and doing the right thing should be making the headlines and not the ones that put themselves in stupid situations.

I hope that Derrick Henry will come back into the Georgia program and I hope that this will entice some other quality backs seriously considering Georgia.

You did the correct thing Coach Richt and if a player wants to play where his actions on and off the field will be evaluated then come to Georgia and if not, then there are plenty of schools where his conduct will be overlooked.

I’m proud of the 99.9% of the players that have their head on straight at Georgia and the .01%, well they either have time to comply and show their stuff or get their walking papers and save themselves the embrassment of being kicked off the team!

Best of luck to the DAWGS in 2012. Henry- Come back-play with Malcome, Samuels, Harton, Marshall, Gurley, and the other fine backs at Georgia. Georgia needs you !

Henry says he’s favoring Bummer as his leader but won’t commit for now. Crowell, according sources. has no trial date set yet, but is likely to get probation, as he is a first time offender and has not actually physically harmed anyone. He is expected to transfer to another school and be able to play this year. Looking at LSU and Tennessee in the SEC. Also Ohio State and Urban Meyer is said to be interested. Wish for Crowell to have a change of attitude and have a good life.
