Alvin Kamara: UGA makes top 10 for 4-star RB

UGA RB target Alvin Kamara (AJC)

UGA RB target Alvin Kamara (AJC)

UGA made the cut with one of the nation’s top college football prospects on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs made the top 10 list from RB Alvin Kamara of Norcross High School. If he wasn’t already, Kamara has rapidly become a top priority for UGA after 5-star RB Derrick Henry de-committed from the Bulldogs recently.

“I was shocked because [Henry has] been committed for so long,” Kamara told the AJC. “But I don’t blame him for it. In the end, you gotta make the  right decision for you … not the coaches, not the fans, not anybody else but you.

“And I would say it helped UGA [with me]. No running back commits for 2013. That’s opportunity.”

Kamara’s other finalists are Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Florida, USC and Auburn.

“As far as visits go, I want to try and make it to each of the schools in my top 10 this summer,” Kamara said. “And my decision will come after I evaluate each option thoroughly. I just want to make sure I make the best choice for me.”

I do believe so, Macon! I live in Norcross, so maybe I should drop in the Kamara place, do a bit more recruiting..LOL!!

No interest at all in Tech,…seems to be their “running” theme! Ha!

Where are we on his list? We need a stud after Lattimore leaves. Doesn’t make sense.

Intersting(missing an e?), yeah that’s GOT to be it!! I mean, he also made several trips down to Statesboro(Georgia Southern)!…they must’ve not offered either, right?…OR..It could be that beginning phase of recruiting where the kids are encouraged to take trips for comparison!…just maybe!

He probably didn’t chop-block good enough either!

SO?……………This sounds like he is trying to get more LOVE form a fan base and coaches.
I hope he makes a CHOICE and sticks to it.
Trying to PUMP UP the attention is just getting to be too much.
TOP 10?
Tell me your Top 3 and slow your roll son.
These players are acting like the Pretty girl telling the Stupid boys trying to date her. Yes, you can call me and spend hours flirting and making your case but you really don’t have a shot.

With Taylor and Lane already committed for 2013 and Mack Brown (soph) and Matt Jones (fresh) on campus this year, it is hard to see him maintaining any interest in the Gators. Same with Georgia’s depth a RB. I see him heading to one of the other schools in his top 10.

Alabama and UGA have more talent at RB stockpiled than UF does. Kamara isn’t scared of competition. He just doens’t like Florida.

Pj not offering because he knows there’s not a snowballs chance of signing him. Quality backs like Kamara don’t want to play in service academy option.

@Pink…..

He visisted Florida not long ago and liked Florida just fine. But Florida is not actively recruiting another RB at this time. Florida has Brown (soph), Jones (Fresh), Johnson (soph)…..and all three are solid RBs on its roster (Gillisee being a senior)…… and have Kelvin Taylor and Adam Lane (two of the top backs in the country) coming in next year to join those three underclassmen. I would say Florida is well stocked at RB. And I didn’t say he was scared…..but I don’t see him going to Florida, Georgia, or Alabama because of the depth those teams have at RB. Just an opinion.

Uga crowded backfield? You have to be kidding. That statement would only apply if Georgia had a history of their backs amounting to squat. This kid would be crazy to go to Georgia to phase himself out in richts offense. Richt couldn’t develop a running back to save his life. Why do we have to hear this garbage every year? Hey kid, if you are out there, Georgia has produced only two 1,000 yard backs in richts 11 seasons. You will be no different.

Auburn is in there because he wants to go to a school that has a history of quality backs. Seems pretty obvious.

Interesting – grades most likely have nothing to do with it. Tech can get any player in who meets NCAA DI standards – same as any major school. Their admittedly high academic admission standards are quickly ignored with any exception they might need. More likely the lack of success at Tech in the past few years is the reason.
