Nick Saban has 16 commitments for 2013, including two from Walton High School (Chick-fil-A)
Alabama coach Nick Saban finally landed one of Georgia’s top 2013 quarterbacks.
Parker McLeod, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Walton High School, committed to Alabama on Wednesday and finally went public with it on Friday. He had 10 offers, with Oklahoma State as his second favorite.
“Alabama was my dream school all along,” McLeod said. “I got a firm offer from them on Wednesday and I committed on the spot. They wanted me to wait a little bit, or until Friday, until I went public with it.”
Alabama’s coaches likely wanted to inform other QBs they were courting. The Crimson Tide liked several in Georgia:
Saban had serious flirtations, including a 90-minute Skype call, with Camden County’s Brice Ramsey, who remains committed to UGA. Alabama also offered Marietta’s Anthony Jennings (committed to LSU) and Cedar Grove’s Johnathan McCrary (Vanderbilt).
“It’s a tremendous honor to play for Coach Saban,” McLeod said. “He has a reputation for being a great coach. It’s going to be awesome to tell play that ‘I play for Nick Saban.’ It’s an honor.”
McLeod, a 3-star recruit, committed to Alabama despite the fact that Crimson Tide has another QB in the same recruiting class (Cooper Bateman of Utah) who is ranked among top five in the nation. McLeod said that didn’t dissuade his decision.

Bama-bound QB Parker McLeod (AJC)
“I know there’s going to be competition wherever I go,” McLeod said. “[Bateman] was not much a factor on my choice. The Alabama coaches told me that they would give us both an equal shot to compete. I’m just looking forward to competing and trying to get my spot.”
McLeod is the second Walton senior to commit to Alabama, following in the footsteps of tailback Tyren Jones, who picked the Crimson Tide over UGA. “I know, that’s great. I didn’t choose Alabama because of Tyren. But it’s going to be cool to play with Tyren as a teammate for another four years. I think that should be fun.”
McLeod and Jones helped lead Walton to last year’s Class AAAAA state championship, where it lost to Grayson.

The comments below are some witty comments from Michigan State fans during the Alabama beat down. This is pretty funny stuff.
“Julio takin’ us to schoolio”
“Why are they allowing Alabama to play with 35 players on defense?”
”I think their punter is currently drinking around the world in Epcot.”
”If we played 10 times, they would win 15″
“We need much more to compete against a true BCS team. We need a couple of CBs, safeties that can tackle, and a pass rush. That’s just defense.”
“If Cam Newton costs $200,000 for a season, how much is a 2nd half rental?”
“And now Cousins is dead”
“If I was our QB I would hire an attorney and sue them for negligence or intentional infliction of physical and emotional distress.”
“I’m ready to accept MSU boosters paying for an offensive line. If we get caught I can deal with it.”
“This is getting out of hand…an Alabama d-lineman just popped out of my TV and threw me 10 yards behind my couch.”
“Do you think this is how Custer felt?”
“We’re going to have a wing named after us at Orlando Regional Medical Center by the time this game finishes.”
“Well, we kept it under 50.”
“We brought our band down to Orlando? I had no idea!”
“SO THIS IS WHAT THEY MEAN BY TEAM SPEED”
“If I’m Maxwell, I fake an injury on the way to the huddle”
I can’t believe Saban let the 4th stringers play for a quarter and half and didn’t put in the 5th string. PO ..S
Come on back anytime you want Big Ten. I sincerely felt bad for the Michigan State quarterbacks. Alabama was absolutely dominating them physically.

@all
congratulations to this young man and best of luck in the competition, something we dont have at UGA.
The first game of 2011 Saban played two QB’s hoping one would step up in time and be the starter and leader, this happened and Alabama won another NC. We will have to wait till 2014 to see anything that resembles a winning QB at UGA.
I posted many weeks ago that pulling the trigger so early on Ramsey was fine but that he was not a top 5 QB in GA as a QB. This still stands true.
Alabama has just widened a huge pipeline of top Div 1 players in that geographic area coming the next several years. Awesome get by Bama, will be fun in the year 2016 to see B Ramsey compete against many of these QB’s.

Parker should reconsider this emotional decision made on the first day he got a firm commitment after Bama missed on at least three other GA QB’s. He is at a solid academic school Walton with a 4.0. he will get a mediocre education at Bama with a degree that is meaningless. he should go to Duke or NC and enjoy actually playing (like Pope’sTJ Yates did at NC) and get a degree that he can really do something in life with.

Your talking crap about the most talented Alabama team in years that lost three games in a season. Saban wet his pants against USC and what was that other team he soiled his pants with, oh yeah, Auburn. 24 – 7. Really? and lost at home. Dough boy was too slow and got caught from behind from 30 yards away? And Hightower, beaten by a tight end to the end zone? And to Auburn. Thank god for the plane crash last year, god rest their souls, that got the Plaid Hatters into the You Don’t have to win a conference championship national championship game. Really the series is tied at 1 and 1. Maybe Karma is the reason tornado boy’s father dropped that tainted Crystal Trophy. Didn’t you guys have a case for that or was it still on loan to Wal-Mart?

McLeod vs Ramsey
Neither QB has thrown much in high school and no one knows for sure if they can or not.
McLeod will be at Alabama where he will not be depended on to throw that much
Ramsey will have to pin point passes every series and has yet to throw double digit passes in a game
McLeod has played against the very best high school competition each week that high schools have to offer and is a proven winner.
Ramsey has not played against top high school competition at all and has never beaten a winning team for the most part.

01hawk: McLeod to date is not a total proven passer although I will say, the recruitment by Ok ST is and Louisville tells me he is what every college should want as a QB. Surprised at UGA not pushing for McLeod. .
Tall, good arm, very intelligent, proven winner against top competition, LEADER
I look for great things out of McLeod at Alabama. He fits the Saban QB mold.

All of you guys need to get a life and quit living through the decisions of 17 year old high school kids playing a game. The real test should come in 4 to 5 years or beyong and be based on the success these young men have after college, Are they good family men, fathers, brothers, productive citizens, men of faith, etc. I would much rather my son play for a coach who helps these young men mature and grow into real mean of character than play for a “win at all cost” type of coach.
