The offensive lineman nicknamed “The Finisher” committed to UGA on Wednesday.
Brandon Kublanow, a 6-foot-3, 290-pounder from Walton High School, picked UGA over Vanderbilt, North Carolina and Clemson, among his 20 offers. Kublanow earned his nickname because of his punishing style of play.

“Georgia is the best fit for me,” Kublanow told the AJC. “They have a great combination of academics and football. The program is headed in the right direction.
Why commit now? “I’ve just been thinking about it. I talked to my family about it. I was up there on Saturday. I took a little secret visit to Georgia, and it just felt right.”
Kublanow is commitment No. 17 for UGA’s 2013 recruiting class – and the third for the offensive line. He will play offensive guard or center for the Bulldogs, which may sign around 30 recruits next February.
“Coach Richt was really fired up when I told him I was coming to Georgia,” Kublanow said. “He was glad to have me, and telling me how important it was for the class … We’re going to sign like 30-something in this class, and it’s definitely going to be one of the top classes in the nation.”
“The Finisher” earned his nickname after he was caught on tape by Rivals slamming a defender’s helmet into the ground while finishing a block.
“Along with being big, strong and powerful, Brandon is just a ferocious football player – and I mean that in the best possible way,” Walton coach Rocky Hidalgo said. “He’s just fierce. He’s not trying to hurt anybody. He just plays incredibly hard, and he isn’t matched very often by his opponent. He’s a special player.”
How good in Kublanow? “I think as soon as he gets on campus, he’s going to have the opportunity to play – I don’t care where he goes, he’s that good,” Hidalgo said.
Kublanow’s commitment was positive news on the day after UGA learned that it’s top commitment is looking hard at Alabama (click here on story link).

Sounds like a good pickup. Hopefully he’ll join the ranks and make some noise as projected. Wonder how long this before this too becomes an Alabama blog though, seeing as how there is no newspaper out there…

I watched the state championship game and it looked like he handled RN # 1 in the nation the whole game. He had his way with whoever he blocked. Excited about this one. Maybe now some people will stop barking so much about lack of linemen.

Are you kidding me? Yes to Dallas Lee, Kolton Houston, Zach Dabell, Huey long, Austin Long, Nathan Theus,John Theus, Greg Pyke,Alden Bynum, David Andrews, Nardiello, and now Klubanow. BUT NO to Chance Warmack, JuJuan James, Rokevious Watkins, Jason Peacock,Joe Harris, Brandon Greene, Shamire Devine,Max Garcia, Vadal Alexander, and Joshua Outlaw. THE most backward, backwoods football program in America. It’s soo obvious what’s going on here. Have you people no shame?

It’s because we actually bring some copetetion to the table. It’s more fun going back and forth with UGA fans then say some of their western counter parts.

no, this program needs to take the Erk Russell “GATA” attitude. I was at UGA games when Erk was head-butting the players with their helmets on and he had blood on his head. That is what we need at UGA.

I love this commit. Always can use some more big uglies. Starting to get some depth back on the OL and that’s a great thing considering how many OL’s have been lost the last few years. Need to get them some experience on the field but could be a special group for years to come.
Tunsil, Seymour?? Who else is out there on the OL?

tide roll, how does offering a scholarship and recruiting a player saying “no” to them? Did you ever take a course in logic?
Jujuan James, Brandon Greene, Vadal Alexander, Max Garcia, and Joshua Outlaw were recruited by Mark Richt and staff. Will not try to embarrass the young man by naming him, but I am thankful at least one of the players on your list was said “No” to by UGA considering what happened the last few months.

Tech Roll is a disturbed and bitter Bee, and also a racist. Has no team worth a crap to root for. So he fronts him/her self as a Bama fan, yet all the real Bama fans know he’s phony and laugh at and ridicule his fake allegiance.
Game changer is the exact same thing.
Thomas Brown just needs to get laid, and quit the same long winded crap he posts on every UGA blog.
