Nick Saban hasn’t given up on flipping UGA’s QB of the future.

The Alabama coach and Brice Ramsey spent 90 minutes talking over Skype on Wednesday, a family member confirmed.

Ramsey, the rising senior quarterback at Camden County High School, committed to UGA last summer over Florida, Florida State and Clemson, among others.

Alabama, Ohio State, Florida and other schools have continued to recruit Ramsey in hopes of changing his mind.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Ramsey could not be reached for comment on Wednesday by the AJC but has repeatedly told reporters that he remains committed to UGA.

UPDATE: Rivals analyst Keith Niebuhr tweeted this on Thursday:

Sounds like #Alabama is the only real threat to #UGA for QB commit Brice Ramsey, who told me, “If’s it’s not Georgia, it’ll be Alabama.”

So it takes 90 minutes for Saban to explain what an Alabama greyshirt offer is on Skype?

Can’t blame a kid for wanting to do better in life. Equal education but a football program that doesn’t underperform every year. Why would he want to go somewhere that can put out multiple NFL draft picks yet can barely win its awful division every year when he can go play for national titles?

Dunno why a kid would want to spend his college years in the state of Alabama. Even Nick Saban prefers to spend as much time as possible at his lake house in Georgia. Leaving Georgia and heading into the state of Alabama is like going at least a decade back in time. Everyone, even Nick Saban, knows that.

Tea – But you have to think about the kid’s psyche. If you can go to Alabama and play for/win big games, why would you stay in Georgia and play for second place in the SEC East?

It’s not like a Magazines major from UGA and a General Studies major from Alabama are any different. If a kid doesn’t value his education and wants to play SEC football, he’s better off going to Alabama.

I just know if I was a father of a major college football recruit I wouldn’t want him playing in Athens. Between the bad culture (arrests, drugs, etc.) and a football coach who frankly can’t coach up anyone or win any meaningful games, it’s not worth it. Better off sending him to a winner such as Saban, Chizik, Dooley, Miles, CPJ, Swinney, or Beamer.

Maybe we can take up reading blogs late at night … giving ironic life coaching advice … and then calling other people morons .

Are there are any group meetings that we need to attend for that “hobby” or can we just jump right in without any real skills like you did ?

===================================

He will start the player who gives the team the best chances to win . That is the most important thing to Tide fans … and the most important thing to Coach Saban . Lesser programs and fan bases are the only ones who would kill their chance to win just to play an inferior instate player .:-)

Well .. actually I like Dooley .. and I despise the Vols .. but IF I had to make that call I would have to look seriously at replacing him myself . He has allowed his players to actually talk smack to him and his assistants .

Rumor at one point was a player even had the nerve to actually threaten an assistant coach . No leader can function properly if he EVER allows that to happen without immediate and severe punishment …

krazy … Phillip Sims wasn’t that far out from the job talent wise … he just didn’t win it . McCarron had a head start on learning the system and enough skill as a QB to hold him off . The staff were never unhappy with Sims from what I know as a player …

Man thats crazy.Back in my day the coach would have you running windsprints for years doing something like that.I like Dooley but lame kiffin left tennessee in very bad shape.But i still do not think they will be a pushover.I see Florida getting thier act together this year.The SEC is going to be strong this year.Vandys no pushover and the ol ball coach has got S.C looking the best i have seen them since tannyhill played.The biggist problem i see with the dawgs is bobo.But i hope he proves me wrong.

The Stuttering Comic Jody Fuller used to have a funny story posted on Youtube about going by an apparently abandoned fuel dump in Iraq while the invasion was still in it’s early phase . It was out in the middle of nowhere . They didn’t see anyone around but did see an University of Alabama flag flying over the depot . He decides to yell out “War Eaglllle” really loud and claimed they never saw who actually yelled back but someone replied equally loud “Roll Tide MFer”.

According to him it could have been a private … could have been a colonel … for all he knows it was a chaplain . He has since made that video private on Youtube which is a shame because I always liked that one …

I thought head coaches could not make ANY contact with recruits right now. Wouldn’t Saban using Skype be a violation?

Crimson Crush

May 10th, 2012

To answer your question 7576 … It is not a violation . Saban was the first to bust out a teleconference session immediately after they passed that set of rules . He had an assistant drop off a web address to an instate kid … who went to his schools computer lab and used the teleconferencing equipment to connect in Hi-def back to Tuscaloosa . With the continued evolution of Skype it is now even easier to connect :-)

Would any qb in their right mind go to UA if they want a true career in the NFL? Sure Saban’s been pooping out defensive guys left and right in the NFL, but which one of his field generals can say that. Saban niche is defense, developing qbs not so much. On the other hand Georgia can develop a qb. Skype that, tweet that.

Alabama asst coach filmed Anthony Jennings entire sping practice yesterday, every throw, every snap for three hours. Part of the time he filmed just his footwork. Two Missouri coaches and one frm Ok State there. Jennings wide open, but Ramsey is a GA lock. Brice would lose a lot of credibilty if he switched after all his UGA recruiting and he’s got too much integrity to do that.

The conversation was over Saban’s house on Lake Burton. In a couple years when Ramsey becomes another first round QB draft pick out of Georgia, he might be interested in buying the house. Ramsey was all for it until he found out that all the ceilings are only 6′ tall.

Uh oh Georgia, Saban is looking to flip this kid. Would a kid want to go to a school
where he will probably over achieve, win a NC, graduate, stay off the police blotter,
and play for a future College Hall of Fame coach? Or, play for a coach that he is going to get beat
by a lesser opponent and end up making news for the wrong reasons?

“Alabama asst coach filmed Anthony Jennings entire sping practice yesterday”

=========================================

For obvious reasons the Tide HAS to have a quality QB … maybe even two depending on their individual skill sets . (two QBs falls outside the usual recruiting practice for Saban and the position BUT could be an option with a second kid who is versatile enough to play more than one spot )

For one, I don’t think Richt is a better coach than Saban. But Richt has beaten Saban twice — once when he was at LSU and once when Saban was at Alabama. How many other coaches in the SEC can say that?

If he talked to Saban for 45 minutes then he has not completely shut the door. Also Georgia had the 2nd most players in the SEC drafted in last 3 Year and has not even made it to one BCS Game? So at some point you can’t blame the Talent on the team. You have to start looking at Coaching.
