Big news: USC player said he’s transferring to Georgia State
USC transfer Curtis Washington said he will have 3 years of eligibility (USC)
USC big man Curtis Washington told the AJC this weekend that he is transferring to Georgia State.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward committed to Georgia State during an official visit this weekend. It was Washington’s first basketball recruiting trip, and he said he also had interest from Western Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas Tech, among others.
“It was really a good fit,” Washington said. “I kind of came down on the visit, not knowing what was going to happen and whether I would like it or not. I just kind of fell in love with the place, the coaches, and my [future] teammates.
“It’s really going to be nice to move closer to home to my family and my grandfather that’s there [in Georgia] … who is not doing too well.”
Washington is from Elizabethtown, Ky., while his grandfather lives around two hours from Atlanta near Macon.
Washington signed with the California school in 2009. He was red-shirted his first season at USC and said he qualified from a medical redshirt last season. Washington said he will have three years of eligibility at Georgia State, and will apply to the NCAA for special waiver to be able to play this season.

Reading blogs reaffirms my belief that most Americans read and write at a 6th grade level or less. Less on AJC blogs for sure.
But….great news for Georgia State. I love the direction the athletic program is taking….to go along with its excellent academics.

Glad ti have Marcus join the Panther Family! Coach Hunter has a loaded class and arguably the best roster top to bottom in the state. With Tech and UGA looking for a .500 season, the Panthers will be going for another 20 win season.

@Paddy….let me explain:
You see,
Nate…..well, he seems to have good inferencing skills. He made an assumption (nearly drawing a conclusion) based on what he read.
Tiger…..well, he sort of guessed. But he at least was thinking and drawing good conclusions based on what he read.
Paddy…..well, he guessed, but seemed to lose comprehension and decided to draw the wrong conclusion (or maybe he was just trying to josh around with us). That would be the conclusion I would draw from the inference I made from what he wrote.
Earnest…..well……he does not seem to understand what he read (”Washington signed with a California school in 2009). Therefore, the Southern Cal or South Carolina question.
Disgruntled……well…..need I say more????
Stang…..well, he needs someone to make an inference and draw a conclusion for him….let me THINK…….oh……
1. Inference: Macon is what, 70 miles from Atlanta. A little over an hour’s drive, I could THINK. But it would be 2 hours driving or more if he left during rush hour. But it would be several days from Southern California, no matter what time he left. Conclusion: He is closer to his ill granddad in Atlanta than in Southern California (not Columbia, SC).
2. Details from story: He was injured. He has an ill grandfather (inference: he seems to care about him a lot). Another inference: he was not a starter at USC….in California (not South Carolina).
Conclusion drawn: He was not going to play much at USC and Georgia State gives him a much better opportunity to play and, by the way, be close to his ill granddad.
NEED I EXPLAIN MORE?????

The conclusion I have drawn over the time I have spent reading blogs on the AJC and posting….is….you are not the only one who thinks “I am full of myself.” I also think I am “full of myself.” But, thankfully, I do not take myself too seriously on these blog sites. I mostly do it to relax and have some fun.

Ben, you are high if you think that’s the best roster in the state. GT’s roster is back to being at full strength next year. The recruiting class was top 15 in the country plus adding Poole from UK. Washington is transferring because he wasn’t even that good, was never gonna play at USC. He barely had any interest out of high school and jumped on a USC offer because they were desperate. He’s 6′10″ and averaged 8ppg in high school, that’s awful. He will be another transfer who does very little at GSU like the one’s Barnes brought in.
Hunter is doing a nice job but acting like GSU is some power now is laughable, the CAA sucked last year and when it came down to it GSU did nothing against the better teams. Racked up wins against sisters of the poor. Even GT beat VCU pretty easily last year and GT had a train wreck of a roster left by Hewitt.

@Josh If Tech’s so loaded, why don’t they schedule Coach Hunter and the Panthers? Tech was one of the worst offensive teams in Division 1 last season. They will be better but will not be better than a .500 team in the ACC and overall.
