Unlike some Georgia Tech fans, Paul Johnson isn’t panicking over the fact that the Yellow Jackets have one commitment for their 2013 recruiting class.

“I don’t worry about it, I’m not too concerned,” Johnson told the AJC on Thursday. “If we get to October or November and we don’t have any commitments, then I will worry about it.”

“We know where we’re at in recruiting. I think we’re doing just fine. We’ll start to get some kids here in the next month or so. I’ve already had some kids tell me that they’re coming. They just don’t want to announce it yet.

“I’m not too worried about it.”

Actually, Georgia Tech is on nearly the same pace as last year when it had two commitments by May 1 and finished just fine with a class of 17 signees. For the 2013 class, Georgia Tech will likely only sign 14-15 recruits because of low roster attrition. They have to be extremely picky because of limited availability.

One major reason that some Georgia Tech supporters are panicking is because archrival UGA is off to a blistering start with 15 commitments for 2013. However, the Bulldogs also may have twice as many spots. They could sign as many as 30 recruits next February.

Now it’s YOUR TURN. What do you think? Panic or patience? Please post below.

  • Basketball note: Tevin Glass, a 6-8, 200-pound forward from Milton High School, will decide between South Carolina, Memphis and Xavier around May 7, according to his high school coach.

CPJ’s team beat UGA in 2008
—————————————
Indeed he did…With players recruited by Chan Gailey.

———————————————–

It was still CPJ’s team. Gailey didn’t phone the plays in from Buffalo.

Coach Paul Johnson is on the hot seat and THAt is killing our recruiting. If he stays on past 2012, and 2012 is a mediocre year, then certainly in 2013, Coach will really be on the hot seat. THIS fact, is absoutely killing his chances for any All Sub Region type of kids to come to GT. It ain’t good.

Hill was the only GT player to be drafted, so the really good kids view that as an omen. Heck, they can go to App State and possibly be drafted in first round vs going to GT and not ever being heard from again.

CPJ is on the two year hot seat …………….problemo #1. The clock is ticking.

GT changes their football coaches about evey 4.3 years, since and including Dodd, who recruited me.

Maybe Gailey didnt phone in plays in 2008 but maybe he should have in 09,2010 and 2011. Maybe Tech should work out a way for Gailey to coach in Buffalo and recruit for Tech..If the excuses make you feel better by all means keep making them. But count on Tech pulling off a win in Athens this year.

Why would we want Gailey to phone in any plays? His teams never beat UGA. What excuses have I made? Hopefully Tech will pull off a win in Athens this year. What is your excuse for continuing to make factually incorrect statements? Lying may make you feel better, but it also makes you look foolish.

“But count on Tech pulling off a win in Athens this year.”

I’m not counting on it Mr. James, but it would be nice. Have a nice day.

GT’s head recruiter should call Troy and Elon College, U of The Southin Monteagle,Tn., Samford in Birmingham, and Millsaps over in Jackson, MS and Chattanooga U and chat those coaches up, as they are who GT competes with day in and out in recruiting and THEY ARE doing well with their frosh class haul for 2013.

Problem solved Techies.

No need for me lie about anything I know that Tech will lose in Athens next year that your program is light years behind Georgia and that anybody who believes in what CPJ is doing with Tech’s program is making excuses even though you may not have posted any..My apologies

No problem. There is still time to find one commit, which would total the average numeber of pj recruits drafted by the nfl in the last two years.

7 wins over UGA..in the last 32 yrs….i would say that “light years” is fairly accurate

People forget that Paul Johnson is on the hot seat. If he doesn’t win big in 2012, he probably won’t be employed at Georgia Tech for the 2013 season. He absolutely cannot have another season like the last two. If he was running a clean program, perhaps, but combine the below average play of the past two years with the NCAA sanctions that stripped away our 2009 ACC title and it’s clear that he hasn’t had a successful run to this point.
