The next Stephenson? Georgia HS has a half-dozen with early D1 football offers

Remember when Stephenson High School had all of those seniors sign D1 football scholarships last February?

Well, Lovejoy High School is the candidate to be one of the state’s top producers for major-college prospects for 2013.

Lovejoy, which played for the Class AAAA state championship this past season (losing to Tucker), already has six rising seniors that early hold FBS offers.

Here’s the list, according to Lovejoy coach Al Hughes:

  • RB Travis Custis, 6-0, 210: Committed to Georgia Tech
  • TE-DE AJ Jackson, 6-6, 240: Virginia, Arkansas, Purdue, Louisville, Ole Miss, South Florida, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, UCLA and Tulane
  • DE-LB Zane Fields, 6-1, 235: Indiana.
  • QB Alejandro Bennifield, 6-3, 210: North Carolina and Furman.
  • ATH Nathanial Norwood, 6-1, 220: Georgia Tech and Jacksonville State.
  • WR-DB Jumichael Ramos, 6-4, 200: South Florida and Florida Atlantic.

Keep an eye on LB-DE Veion Robinson, OL-DL Malcolm Johnson, OL-DL Montell Robinson-Beasley, and LB Eugene Fuller (offer from Richmond).

Back to Stephenson: The DeKalb County schools had 11 seniors sign with FBS schools in February.

Hard to compare Lovejoy to Stephenson when Lovejoy has actually played in a state championship game. And with less talent no less.

Any two peoples names alike? Do the parents get together and say “you name him this and spell it this way and I’ll name this one and spell it that way”.
A teachers got to spend half their time figuring out the kids names in these schools!

Do you verify the offers?
I don’t think they are all true offers. Just because a player gets a letter doesn’t mean it is an offer.
This is not a very good comparison.

If you want to stir up the readers just say someling like Georgia Tech girls are prettier than UGA and Alabama girls.

@YO- Lovejoy played in a state championship but look at the region they played in! If im not mistaken they got destroyed by Tucker. Stephenson has played Tucker almost every year in pre-season and only lost 1 time. No disrespect to Lovejoy but they couldn’t beat Stephenson on the field.

And Stephenson is only like 14 years old. I’m pretty sure none of your schools had a state title within the first 14 years of opening. It took Tucker 90 years to win a state title! I guarantee you Stephenson will win state this year…

Oh and one last thing give credit when it’s due. Stephenson has only been open for 14 years but has been leading the nation in D1 offers for the last 3 years!

You could say LoveJoy isn’t as old as Stephenson because they lose their accredidation so often. It’s just like starting over. And over. And over.

Lovejoy lost accredidation one time and that was in like 2007. And if im not mistaken they got it back pretty soon afterwards.
